Geoacoustic modeling is used to predict sound transmission through submarine bottom layers of sedimentary strata and acoustic basement. This study reconstructed four geoacoustic models for sediments of 50 m thick at the Jeongdongjin area in the western continental margin of the East Sea. Bottom models were based on the data of the highresolution air-gun seismic and subbottom profiles (SBP) with sediment cores. P-wave speed was measured by the pulse transmission technique, and the resonance frequency of piezoelectric transducers was maintained at 1MHz. Measurements of 42 P-wave speeds and 41 attenuations were fulfilled in three core sediments. For actual modeling, the P-wave speeds of the models were compensated to in situ depth below the sea floor using the Hamilton method. These geoacoustic models of coastal bottom strata will be used for geoacoustic and underwater acoustic experiments reflecting vertical and lateral variability of geoacoustic properties in the Jeongdongjin area of the East Sea.
In order to predict the propagation of road traffic noise over level terrain, this paper presents the model of the simple monopole and dipole source. Excess attenuations by ground acoustic impedance with continuity are investigated by outdoor experiments. In this results, the propagation of road traffic noise is affected by the acoustic impedance properties of the ground surface over which the noise travels, particularly when the receiver position is close to the surface. These results are then used to derive sound pressure level contours for the attenuation with distance of the equivalent energy level received from passing vehicle. The percentage of deep sleep and the number of wakings are studied for continuous traffic noise. The hearing loss and sensitivity threshold shift is investigated by changing the various parameters such as the effects of aging and noise exposure. Evaluation of the response of human to traffic noise is discribed. It is shown that exposure to excessive noise can cause temporary loss of hearing that may become permanent if the exposure is prolonged or intense.

Recently, the medical community has been enthusiastically welcoming robots that are able to provide high-quality medical services across the board, including assisting the surgeons during surgeries. In response, many higher education institutions and research facilities started to conduct various experiments and studies about these robots. During such research, it was discovered that the arm of one particular robot type that is being developed to assist surgeries are prone to vibrate even from the weakest impact, in addition to other residual vibration problems. We attempted to reduce such dynamic response by using a MF-TMD that is produced by adding magnetic fluid to ECD. We verified the MF-TMD's performance by testing it within various frequency bands and attenuations. We then designed a cantilever that was structurally similar to the robot's arm. We attached the MF-TMD to this cantilever and conducted a pilot experiment, which validated our hypothesis that MF-TMD will reduce the robot arm's vibrations through its optimal damping ratio. Henceforth, we attached the MF-TMD to the robot arm in question and conducted a performance experiment in which we tuned the MF-TMD's frequency and damping factor to its optimal level and measured the vibrations of the arm. The experiment demonstrated that the vibrations that occurred whenever the arms rotated were significantly reduced.

In this paper, a triple-band multiplexer using a microstrip transmission line was designed and fabricated to make use of a low power portable base station. This multiplexer was used in the triple-band including the cellular, WCDMA and LTE mobile frequency band, and designed to have an insertion loss of 0.8 dB, low SWR of 1.5 in the passband and a band rejection of 15 dB in the stopband. From the measured results obtained by a confidence test for the fabricated multiplexer samples, the maximum insertion loss and SWR of the fabricated multiplexer samples in all passbands of 824-894MHz, 1920-2170 MHz and 2500-2600 MHz were below 0.71 dB and 1.38, and the attenuations in the stopbands were better than 15 dB. Therefore, the triple-band multiplexer has good performance and satisfies the design specifications.

This paper proposes a design of attenuator based on meta-material structure and its application. The unit-cell attenuator based on the lossy transmission line consists of the CRLH(Composite Right/Left Handed) transmission line and PIN diodes to be controlled internal loss according to diode bias voltage to change resistance of diode. Also, to reduce the initial losses, there is used parallel connection of PIN diodes. To increase attenuations, it is connected a cascade unit-cell of attenuator with periodic structure. The attenuation quantities of unit-cell are about 10dB and phase variations are 15o maximum at 1.5 GHz ~ 2.5 GHz. Also, its application is represented a vector modulator.

Hydrodynamic characteristics of wave propagation through density stratification have not been identified in details. So this study conducted a numerical simulation using LES-WASS-3D ver. 2.0 for analysis of density current due to water temperature and salinity in order to analyze hydraulic characteristics under wave action in a two-layer density stratified fluid. For the validity and effectiveness of numerical wave tank used, it was compared and analyzed with the experiment to show waveform based on $3^{rd}$-order Stoke wave theory at the internal of a density stratification. Using the results obtained from numerical simulation, the surface and internal wave heights are reduced as the wave propagates in a two-layer density stratified water. And the surface or internal wave attenuation became more serious as the vorticities were increased by the velocity difference of wave propagation due to the upper-lower density difference around the interface of a density stratification. As well, the surface and internal wave attenuations became more serious with higher density difference and depth ratio between upper and lower layers when the wave propagates through a density stratification.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the head and tibial acceleration signal magnitudes, and their powers and shock attenuations between flat-footed and normal-footed running. Methods : Ten flat-footed and ten normal-footed subjects ran barefoot on a treadmill with a force plate at 3.22m/s averaged from their preferred running speed using heel-toe running pattern while the head and tibial acceleration in the vertical axis data was collected. The accelerometers were sampled at 2000 Hz and voltage was set at 100 mv, respectively. The peak magnitudes of the head and tibial acceleration signals in time domain were calculated. The power spectral density(PSD) of each signal in the frequency domain was also calculated. In addition to that, shock attenuation was calculated by a transfer function of the head PSD relative to the tibia PSD. A one-way analysis of variance was used to determine the difference in time and frequency domain acceleration variables between the flat-footed and normal-footed groups running. Results : Peaks of the head and tibial acceleration signals were significantly greater during flat-footed group running than normal-footed group running(p<.05). PSDs of the tibial acceleration signal in the lower and higher frequency range were significantly greater during flat-footed running(p<.05), but PSDs of the head acceleration signal were not statistically different between the two groups. Flat-footed group running resulted in significantly greater shock attenuation for the higher frequency ranges compared with normal-footed group running(p<.05). Conclusion : The difference in impact shock magnitude and frequency content between flat-footed and normal-footed group during running suggested that the body had different ability to control impact shock from acceleration. It might be conjectured that flat-footed running was more vulnerable to potential injury than normal-footed running from an impact shock point of view.
The attenuation mechanism of seismic waves in the crust is controlled both by intrinsic absorption and scattering of energy. The amount of scattering and intrinsic energy losses from the total attenuation is separately estimated in this study for the southern Korean Peninsula. The formula to be deduced from the theoretical relationship between single back-scattered coda Q and multiple scattering theory was used to separate the total attenuation into the intrinsic Q and the scattering Q. It was found that the intrinsic Q was considerably lower than that of the scattering Q in the frequency range of 1.5 to 20 Hz. This fact implies that the energy loss caused by the intrinsic absorption is relatively larger than one by the scattering effect within the crust of the southern Korean Peninsula. Both intrinsic and scattering Q values appeared to be comparatively larger than those measured in other seismically active regions except for intrinsic Q in the frequency range of 1.5 to 3 Hz.
Purpose: To evaluate the computed tomography (CT) findings of pulmonary cryptococcosis in immunocompetent patients. Materials and Methods: CT scans of 25 patients with biopsy-proven cryptococcosis [surgery (n=3), percutaneous needle biopsy (n=21), and bronchoscopic biopsy (n=1)] were analyzed. Thirteen patients were men and 12 patients were women, with a mean age of 53.7 years. Presenting symptoms were cough, sputum, and dyspnea and 12 patients presented with incidentally found chest radiographic abnormalities. Results: Nodule or multiple conglomerate nodules (n=10, 40%) and segmental or lobular consolidation (n=9, 36%) were most common, followed by mixed patterns (n=5, 20%). Predilection sites were lower lobe (n=21/37, 57%) and subpleural areas (n=23, 92%). Air bronchograms within consolidations (n=11/14, 79%) with mild volume loss (n=10/14, 71%) were common. While interlobular septal thickening (n=11, 44%) and cavitation or central low-attenuations (n=11, 44%) were relatively common, lymphadenopathy (n=2, 8%) or free pleural effusions (n=1, 4%) were uncommon. Conclusion: Nodules or airspace consolidation with a predilection of lower lobe and subpleural area are the most common appearances of pulmonary cryptococcosis in immunocompetent patients.
In this paper, we propose an algorithm which represents the distance depiction technique of real painting that named "Aerial Perspective" in painterly rendering. It is a painting technique that depicts the attenuations of light in the atmosphere, and the scattering effect is changed by the distance, altitude and density of atmospheres. For the reflection of these natures, we use the depth information corresponding to an input image and user-defined parameters, so that user changes the effect level. We calculate the distance and altitude of every pixel with the depth information and parameters about shot information, and control the scattering effects by expression parameters. Additionally, we accentuate the occluding edges detected by the depth information to clarify the sense of distance between fore and back-ground. We apply our algorithm on various landscape scenes, and generate the distance-emphasized results compared to existing works.
