We shall discuss one of some techniques needed to analyze algorithms. It is called a big-O function technique. The measures of efficiency of an algorithm have two cases. One is the time used by a computer to solve the problem using this algorithm when the input values are of a specified size. The other one is the amount of computer memory required to implement the algorithm when the input values are of a specified size. Mainly, we will restrict our attention to time complexity. To figure out the Time Complexity in nonlinear problems of Numerical Analysis seems to be almost impossible.

Recently much attention has been drawn to meshfree method since conventional methods such as FDM, FVM and FEM have suffered from difficulty with mesh generation for complex geometry and deformable bodies. In this paper, an upwind point collocation meshfree method developed by the authors is applied to two shock wave diffraction problems. One is the shock diffraction over a 90-degree corner and the other is the single Mach reflection on a ramp. The scheme showed stability and the results showed accuracy.

Radiation synovetomy with various radiopharmaceuticals has been used to alleviate pain and swelling of rheumatoid arthritis and related joint diseases for more than 40 years. It is an attractive alternative to the surgical synovectomy for the management of the various joint diseases. Recently, the development of new radiopharmaceuticals labeled with $^{90}Y,\;^{32}P,\;^{186}Re,\;^{188}Re,\;^{153}Sm,\;^{165}Dy$ and $^{166}Ho$, for the effective management of synovial inflammation and related arthritic problems are gaining attention. In this article the general concepts and the clinical application of radiation synovectomy are reviewed.

With the recent advances in information retrieval, cross-media retrieval has been attracting lot of attention, but several issues remain problems such as constructing effective correlations, calculating similarity between different kinds of media objects. To gain better cross-media retrieval performance, it is crucial to mine the semantic correlations among the heterogeneous multimedia data. This paper introduces a new method for cross-media retrieval which uses ontology to organize different media objects. The experiment results show that the proposed method is effective in cross-media retrieval.

Iro-ochi as has been called by Nori (Porphyra) farmers is biologically a bleaching phenomenon and has been one of the serious problems in Nori cultivation in Japan. Especially in the last Nori cultivation season, Iro-ochi gave an extremely serious damage to the Nori production in Ariake Bay, Kyushu, Japan, which attracted considerable socio-economic attention in Japan. As early as in late 1960s, we already made fundamental studies on Iro-ochi of Porphyra. (omitted)

As the effective use of information has gained greater attention over the decade, various conventional AI techniques have been applied to develop expert systems for business applications. Case-based reasoning (CBR) makes data more accessible by organizing it as a set of examples from past experience that can be generalized and applied to current problems. This paper illustrates basic concepts of CBR and addresses the system discussed in this paper can provide a basis for building more flexible and adaptable expert systems for business applications.

As the portion of information systems(IS) budget to the total government budget becomes greater, the cost estimation of IS development and maintenance projects is recognized as one of the most important problems to be resolved for quantitative and efficient management of IS budget. The primary concern in the cost estimation of IS projects is to estimate software development cost. In this paper, we propose a new method to estimate software cost using support vector regression(SVR), which has attracted considerable attention because of its good performance and theoretical clearness. The paper is the first study which apply SVR to software cost estimation.

This paper reports on a study investigating key attributes of service recovery strategies in internet shopping mall. In theses day, service recovery has received important attention in the service operation management literature. Service recovery involves those actions designed to resolve problems, alter negative attitudes of dissatisfied consumers and to ultimately retain these customers. The study examined that service recovery strategies (apology, compensation) impact on the customer satisfaction. And customer satisfaction impacts on customer loyalty with SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). This study can be used a strategic implication for internet shopping mall managers to develop successful service recovery strategies.

This Modeling is a cyclical process of creating and modifying models of empirical situations to understand them better and improve decisions. The role of modeling and teaching mathematical modeling in school mathematics has received increasing attention as generating authentic learning and revealing the ways of thinking that produced it. In this paper and interactive lecture session, we will review a subset of the related literature, discuss benefits and challenges in teaching and learning mathematical modeling, and share our attempts to improve traditional textbook problems so that they can become more authentic modeling activities and implications for instruction and assessment as well as for research.

Random walks as specia Markov stochastic processes have received particular attention in recent years. Not only the applicability of the theory already developed but also its extension within the frame work of probability measures on algebraic-topological structures such as semigroups, groups and linear spaces became a new challenge for research work in the field. At the same time new insights into classical problems were obtained which in various cases lead to a more efficient presentation of the subject. Consequently the teaching of random walks at all levels should profit from the recent development.
