  • The dominant effect of the interaction between vortices, generated by the addition of the Leading Edge Extension(LEX) in front of the wing, was well observed in this experiment. In this study, systematic approach by PIV experimental method within a circulating water channel was adopted to study the fundamental characteristics of induced vertex generation, development and its breakdown appearing on a delta wing model with or without LEX in terms of four angles of attack($15^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$, $25^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$) and six measuring sections(30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%) of chord length. Distributions of time-averaged velocity vectors and vortices over the delta wing model were compared along the chord length direction. High-speed CCD camera which made it possible to acquire serial images is able to get the detailed information about the flow characteristics occurred on the delta wing. Especially quantitative comparison of the maximum vorticity featuring the induced pressure distribution were also conducted to clarity the significance of the LEX existence.

  • Fingerprint authentication identifies individuals based on user specific information. It is widely used as it is convenient, secure and has no risk of leakage, loss, or forgotten. However, the latent fingerprints remaining on the smart device's surface are vulnerable to smudge attacks. We analyze the usage patterns of individuals using smart device and propose methods to reconstruct damaged fingerprint images using fingerprint smudges. We examine the feasibility of smudge attacks with frequent usage situations by reconstructing fingerprint smudges collected from touch screens. Finally, we empirically verify the vulnerability of fingerprint authentication systems by showing high attack rates.

  • Medical images are being managed more by PACS in general medical institutions. It is important to protect patients from being invaded their privacy related to the images. It is also necessary to confirm the ownership, the right of property of the medical images and notice whether the data are modified. In this paper, we propose a robust watermarking against RST attacks in medical images on the PACS. The proposed scheme modifies and improves Log-Polar Mapping and Fourier Mellin Transform in order to realize and recover serious image degradation and watermark data loss caused by the conversion between cartesian coordinate and log-polar coordinate. We used the radius and theta Look Up Table to solve the realization of the Fourier Mellin Transform, and inserted a watermark into 2D-DFT magnitudes using Spread Spectrum. Experimental results shows that this method are robust to rotation attack.

  • This study proposes how to insert a strong watermark creating a big change in the areas of edge and texture. While conversion by existing Fourier transformation can acquire information for all ranges of frequency domain from the image, Wavelet transformation can manipulate edge and texture area selectively. Therefore, through wavelet transformation concerned area may be selected and watermarks in copyright formation are inserted. Our proposed algorithm was compared to Xia's watermarking technique using wavelet transformation. Its fidelity and robustness were tested with attack methods used in existing papers and it turns out that the proposed algorithm using HVS properties is more superior to Xia's techniques.

  • A set of experiments was carried out for obtaining the velocity field around the hydrofoil of finite span, using a wing of the NACA 0012 section in a circulating water channel. DPIV technique was used to measure the velocity field, and the velocity measurements along the span were done for 3 speeds, 3 submerged depths, and 4 angles of attack. Experimental data are compared with the theoretical assumptions, as well as the numerical findings by Lee and Lee(2004). Special care is given to the flow near the tips and in the region close to the leading edge. Though indirect, using the measured data of the velocity, it is now possible to compare the aerodynamic and the hydrodynamic strength of the circulation distribution of a wing in the framework of the lifting-line theory.

  • CCTV video recording system is recognized as evidence value of video data, and is widely used in real life for the purpose of security of facilities or security control, and it is developing in order to process high-resolution and high-capacity data in real time through network. However, there is no description of redundancy to prevent the loss of image data due to defects of unexpected equipment or external attack, and even if the redundancy is implemented, a high-capacity video stream is transmitted through the network, network overload can not avoided. In this paper, we propose and verify a failover method based on rules that can operate the redundancy scheme without inducing network overload in CCTV network video recording environment.

  • With the Russia-Ukraine war ongoing, the war broke out due to a surprise attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023. Israel and Hamas had a conflict with similar causes and aspects in 2021, which was immediately resolved with a peace agreement. It is no exaggeration to say that 'human history is the history of war.' War accounts for a significant portion of human history. According to Kenneth Waltz, the violent and selfish nature of humans, the nature of nations pursuing their own interests, and the international system act simultaneously as causes of war. The purpose of this study is to analyze the causes of the Israel-Hamas war using Kenneth Waltz's three image theories to derive implications and provide implications for Korea's military strategy.

  • Infarct size is a major determinant of prognosis after acute myocardial infarction. Up to date, however, clinically available tests to estimate this size have not been sufficiently accurate. Twelve lead electrocardiogram and wall motion abnormality measurement are not quantitative, and creatine phophokinase (CPK) measurement is inaccurate in the presence of reperfusion or right ventricular infarction. Methods have been developed to localize and size acute myocardial infarcts with agents that are selectively sequestered in areas of myocardial damage, but previously used agents have lacked sufficient specificity. Antibodies that bind specifically only to damaged myocardial cells may resolve this problem and provide an accurate method for noninvasively measuring infarct size. We determined the accuracy with which infarcted myocardial mass can be measured using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and radiolabeled antimyosin antibodies. Seven patients with acute myocardial infarction and one stable angina patient were injected with 2 mCi of Indium-111 labeled antimyosin antibodies. Planar image and SPECT was performed 24 hours later. None of the patients had history of prior infarcts, and none had undergone reperfusion techniques prior to the study, which was done within 4 days of the attack. Planar image showed all infarct patients to have postive uptakes in the cardiac region. The location of this uptake correlated to the infarct site as indicated by electrocardiography in most of the cases. The angina patient, however, showed no such abnormal uptake. Infarct size was determined from transverse slices of the SPECT image using a 45% threshold value obtained from a phantom study. Measured infarct size ranged from 40 to 192 gr. There was significant correlation between the infarct size measured by SPECT and that estimated from serial measurements of CPK (r=0.73, p<0.05). These date suggest that acute myocardial infarct size can be accurately measured from SPECT Indium-111 antimyosin imaging. This method may be especially valuable in situations where other methods are unreliable, such as early reperfusion technique, right ventricular infarct or presence of prior infarcts.

  • This paper proposes a systematic methodology that could be used to decide which one shows the best performance among space filling curves (SFCs) in applying lower-dimensional transformations to histogram sequences. A histogram sequence represents a time-series converted from an image by the given SFC. Due to the high-dimensionality nature, histogram sequences are very difficult to be stored and searched in their original form. To solve this problem, we generally use lower-dimensional transformations, which produce lower bounds among high dimensional sequences, but the tightness of those lower-bounds is highly affected by the types of SFC. In this paper, we attack a challenging problem of evaluating which SFC shows the better performance when we apply the lower-dimensional transformation to histogram sequences. For this, we first present a concept of spatial locality, which comes from an intuition of "if the entries are adjacent in a histogram sequence, their corresponding cells should also be adjacent in its original image." We also propose spatial locality preservation metric (slpm in short) that quantitatively evaluates spatial locality and present its formal computation method. We then evaluate five SFCs from the perspective of slpm and verify that this evaluation result concurs with the performance evaluation of lower-dimensional transformations in real image matching. Finally, we perform k-NN (k-nearest neighbors) search based on lower-dimensional transformations and validate accuracy of the proposed slpm by providing that the Hilbert-order with the highest slpm also shows the best performance in k-NN search.
