Characteristics of ZnO Thin Films by Means of ALD for the Application of Transparent TFT

  • Zinc oxide thin films were grown at the t emperature of $100^{\circ}C$ and $150^{\circ}C$ by means of plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) and conventional atomic layer deposition for applying to the transparent thin film transistor (TTFT). The growth rate of $1.9{\AA}/cycle$ with oxygen plasma is similar to that of film grown with water. While the sheet resistivity of ZnO grown with water is 1233 ohm/sq, that of film grown with oxygen plasma was too high to measure with 4 point probe and hall measurement system. The resistivity of the films grown with oxygen plasma estimated to be $10^6$ times larger than that of the films grown with water. The difference of electrical property between two films was caused by the O/Zn atomic ratio. We fabricated ZnO-TFT by means of ALD for the first time and the ZnO channel fabricated with water showed saturation mobility of $0.398cm^2/V{\cdot}s$ with bottom gate configuration.

  • 레이놀드 수에 따른 색소 젯트의 공간적인 편평도를 마이켈슨 간섭계를 이용하여 분석하였다. 레이놀드 수 600(유속 12m/s)일 때 색소 젯트의 편평도는 최적 조건을 보였다. 이러한 색소 젯트의 최적 조건하에서 종펌핑 Littman형 색소레이저 빔은 펌프 에너지 0.5-1.0mJ/pulse의 범위에서 단일 종모우드로 발진되었다. 이 때의 선폭은 470MHz이었고, 변환 효율과 빔 발산각은 각각 4.7%, 3mrad이었다.

Calibration of digital wide-range neutron power measurement channel for open-pool type research reactor

  • As the modernization of the nuclear instrumentation system progresses, research reactors have adopted digital wide-range neutron power measurement (DWRNPM) systems. These systems typically monitor the neutron flux across a range of over 10 decades. Because neutron detectors only measure the local neutron flux at their position, the local neutron flux must be converted to total reactor power through calibration, which involves mapping the local neutron flux level to a reference reactor power. Conventionally, the neutron power range is divided into smaller subranges because the neutron detector signal characteristics and the reference reactor power estimation methods are different for each subrange. Therefore, many factors should be considered when preparing the calibration procedure for DWRNPM channels. The main purpose of this work is to serve as a reference for performing the calibration of DWRNPM systems in research reactors. This work provides a comprehensive overview of the calibration of DWRNPM channels by describing the configuration of the DWRNPM system and by summarizing the theories of operation and the reference power estimation methods with their associated calibration procedure. The calibration procedure was actually performed during the commissioning of an open-pool type research reactor, and the results and experience are documented herein.

Sodium Flame Encapsulation 방법에 의한 초미립 Ti 분말 합성 및 공정개발 (Synthesis and Process Development of Ultrafine Ti Powder by Sodium Flame Encapsulation Method)

  • Synthesis and process development of nano-size Ti powder by SFE(Sodium/halide Flame Encapsulation) method were investigated. Four concentric coflow burner was used and its flame configuration was $TiCl_4/Ar/Na/Ar$ in order from the center. Flame has been controlled by the various processing parameters such as temperature of burner and flow rates of both $TiCl_4$(g) precursor and Na(g). It was found that yellow-colored flame was shown in the flow rates of 70cc/min of $TiCl_4$(g) precursor and 2 $\ell$ /min of Na(g) which were regarded as optimum flame condition. The powders encapsuled by NaCl were produced having the average powder size of 250nm. The results of X-ray diffraction showed that powders from the optimized condition consisted of pure Ti and NaCl. TEM analysis confirmed that the several Ti powders of 20-100nm were encapsulated with NaCl. After removing sodium chloride by heat treatment, the spherical Ti powders with the size range of 80 to 150nm were obtained.

이동 형 산업용 단층측정 장치를 위한 감마선 검출시스템 개발 (Development of Measurement System for Industrial Transportable Gamma Ray CT)

  • This paper introduces a gamma-ray measurement system for a transportable tomography which is applicable for an industrial process diagnosis. The gamma-ray measurement system consists of pulse mode operating 72 channel CsI detectors, main AMP-pulse shaper, single channel analyzer, counter and control PC. The CsI crystal is coupled with a PIN diode which is connected to an amplifier and pulse shaper. For a compact design, the amplifier and pulse shaping circuit are included in a single package. 36 sets of CsI detectors are connected to a multi-channel counter through single channel analyzers. A computer controls and collects data from two multi-channel counters. This configuration results in 72 channel counting system in total. The CT rotator and radiation measurement system are controlled by a PC with LabVIEW program. Tomographic data were measured for a phantom by the measurement system and transportable gamma-ray CT. From the experimental data image reconstructions were performed by ML-EM algorithm. The result showed that the CsI detector system can be a suitable component for transportable gamma-ray CT system.

붕규산유리 매질 내에서의$Eu^{3+}$이온의 형광특성 (Optical Spectroscopy of$Eu^{3+}$in Borosilicate Glasses)

  • 유로퓸의 조성을 2~33% $Eu_2O_3$ 범위에서 변화시키면서 제조한 붕규산유리 매질에서의 $Eu^{3+}$ 이온에 대한 형광 및 형광붕괴시간을 측정하였다. 붕규산유리 매질 내에서 $Eu^{3+}$ 이온의 형광은 $f^b$ 전자구조내의 SL 결합에 의해 이루어진 준위간의 $5D0{\rightarrow}7FJ$(J=0, 1, 2, 3, 4) 전이들이고, 스펙트럼에서 양자수 J에 따른 Stark 부준위의 수로부터 $Eu^{3+}$ 이온 주변결정장의 대칭성 위수가 $n{\leq}2$ 인 낮은 대칭성을 갖고 있음을 알았다. 붕규산유리 매질 내의 음이온성 산소와 $Eu^{3+}$ 이온의 상대적 비에 따라 형광수명들의 종류 및 분률이 달라졌으며, 이로부터 붕규산유리 매질 내의 $Eu^{3+}$ 이온에 대한 주변의 결합조건을 추정하였다.

스테레오 기반 감마선원 탐지 및 가시화에 관한 연구 (Study of the Radioactive Source Detection and the Visualization with the Stereo Radiation Detector)

  • 본 논문에서는 스테레오 기반 감마선원 탐지장치를 통해 감마선원을 포함하는 공간을 래스터 스캔방식으로 스캔하여 가시광영상과 감마선영상을 획득하고, 스테레오 감마선 탐지장치로부터 선원까지의 거리와 방향에 대한 3차원 정보 획득 및 가시화를 수행하였다. 탐지장치의 구성은 감마선원 탐지를 위한 방사선 검출부, 선원탐지를 위해 래스터스캔방식의 스캔을 위한 팬틸트 그리고 가시광영상을 위한 CCD 카메라로 이루어진다. 선원에 대한 공간분포를 측정하기 위해 스테레오 구조의 장치를 구현하였으며 스테레오 영상획득을 위해 CCD 카메라와 감마선 탐지장치는 각각 2대로 구성하였다. 탐지선원에 대한 분포를 나타내기 위해 감마선 탐지 장치와 가시광 카메라에 대한 보정을 수행하였고, 각각의 카메라에 대한 스테레오 보정을 수행한 후 가시광영상과 감마선영상 중첩을 통해 감마선원에 대한 분포를 나타내었다. 좌, 우 분포영상에 대한 정류화처리 후 스테레오 영상에 대한 가시화결과를 도출하였다.

AFM을 이용한 수직배향막 폴리머 표면위의 액정배향에 관한 연구 (Study on the LC Alignment on Vertical Alignment Polymer Surface using the AFM)

  • We have studied the alignment of liquid crystals (LCs) on homeotropic polymeric surface that is scanned using an atomic force microscope (AFM) tip by optical polarizing microscopy and computer simulation. The scanned areas on one substrate are 5 $\mu\textrm{m}$ ${\times}$ 5 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 10 $\mu\textrm{m}$ ${\times}$ 10 $\mu\textrm{m}$, and 20 $\mu\textrm{m}$ ${\times}$ 20 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and this substrate is assembled to another substrate coated. with homeotropic polymer. The fabricated micro-LC cell using two substrates does not show any hysteresis and disclination lines inside the nano-rubbing areas, while changing voltage up and down. This indicates that the pretilt angle exists in the areas, thereby forming a hybrid LC configuration. From the experimental and computer simulation results, we can understand that the AFM rubbing clearly changes surface status of homeotropic alignment layer and causes the pretilt angle to an initial scanning direction.

First-principle investigations of the binding between carbon nanotubes and poly(acrylonitrile)

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been widely accepted and used as the enhancer for polymer nano-composites due to their remarkable mechanical properties. Understandably, the CNT fiber-polymer matrix interface plays a major role in determining the properties of the CNT-polymer nano-composites. Here, using the LCAODFT Lab tool available on the EDISON Nano-Physics site, we performed first-principles density-functional theory calculations to determine the atomic configurations and binding energies of the CNTs in contact with polymers. For the polymer matrixes, we chose poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN), which is one of the most well-known polymer matrixes for the carbon nanofiber nanocomposites. Different chiralities and diameters of pristine CNTs were considered, and several PAN-CNT configurations were prepared based on the atomistic positions and directions of cyano group in PAN. The most favorable configuration of PAN was obtained when the PAN bound parallel to the surface of CNT. Our finding indicates the binding configurations are determined by the direction of the cyano group dominantly rather than the atomistic position of PAN, or the symmetry of CNTs. The result of increasing the length of CNT diameter suggests that PAN is inclinable to align evenly on the surface of relatively large size of CNT with the configuration parallel to the surface. These results obtained in this study will provide the starting point for the design of improved PAN-CNT composites for the next-generation ultra-strong and ultra-light carbon nanofibers.

  • A crystallographic unit cell can be transformed into another one by a 3×3 transformantion matrix. If the determinant of the transformation matrix has a negative value, the newly transformed unit cell becomes a left-handed cell. The best way of transforming the left-handed cell to the right-handed one is to multiply each element of the transformation matrix by-1, and its corresponding transformation matrix must be applied tot he atomic coordinates of a noncentrosymmetric crystal so as to maintain the absolute configuration unchanged. The behaviour of absolute configuration caused by transforming the crystallographic unit cell was examined theoretically and experimentally on the compound (S)-(+)-4-phenyl-1-[4-aminobenzoyl) indoline-5-sulfonyl]-4,5-dihydro-2-imidazolone hydrochloride.
