In this review, the significance of terrestrial ecosystems in the global sulfur budget has been reviewed based on the currently available databases covering the topic. In the section 1, we describe our current understanding of natural sulfur cycle in relation to most well-known natural reservoir, oceanic environment. The sections 2 and 3 provide the fundamental pictures of the rerrestrial sulfur cycle with respect to the relative importance of its individe the fundamental pictures of the terrestrial sulfur cycle with respect to the section 3, previously reported flux values for several major sulfur gases are presented for each reservoir and are intercompared to derive representative fluxes for the respective environment. In the section 4, source mechanisms for volatile sulfur species are dealt for both microscale and macroscale processes leading to their productions. In the section 5, environmental factors controlling the exchange of biogenic sulfur gases across the air-surface have been discussed. In the section 6, environmental fate of sulfur gases released into the atmosphere has been described. Finally in tie section 7, as concluding remarksm we discuss directions and suggestions to overcome various limitations encountered from previous measurement investigations of natural sulfur cycle in diverse natural ecological systems.

Increase of the greenhouse gases emissions during last century has led remarkable changes in our environment and climate system. Continuous monitoring of atmospheric constituents over the world is positively necessary to understand these changes around us. The concentrations of greenhouse gases ($CO_2,\;CH_4,\;N_2O,\;CFCs$) have been continuously measured at Global Climate Change Monitoring station in Gosan, Jeju since January, 2002. In this study, the variation characteristics of greenhouse gases as well as their annual, seasonal and diurnal trend using the data from January, 2002 to December, 2005 were analyzed. The raw data which was used in the analysis were validated with the methods recommended by WDCGG (World Data Center for Greenhouse Gases). The concentration of $CO_2$ was increasing continuously by 2.1 ppm/year, while $CH_4$ did not show any increasing or decreasing trend clearly for 4 years. The concentration of $N_2O$ was slightly increasing and CFCs were decreasing except CFC-12 which has longer lifetime compared with other CFCs. The variations of the greenhouse gases at Gosan were shown to be consistent with the global trend. But the concentration level of $CO_2$ in Korea was more or less higher than abroad.

It is possible for humans to breathe underwater using dissolved oxygen. However, unlike fish, humans need large amounts of oxygen to breathe underwater. Water generally contains small amounts of dissolved oxygen. To get enough dissolved oxygen from water, great volumes of it should be supplied into a separation device. If exhalation gases are used, the amounts of water supplied into the membrane can be decreased. However, the characteristics of exhalation gases after passage through the separation device need to be investigated. To reuse the exhalation gases, the concentration of carbon dioxide should be decreased. A compressor is needed to supply the exhalation gases because of the high pressure generated in the membrane inlet. However, compressors require a lot of power and are heavy, so it is not proper to get the portable separation device. A system without the compressor is needed. If the pressure of the position mixed from the exhalation is less than atmosphere, the compressor is not needed. In this thesis, characteristics of the gases which are mixed with exhalation gases and separated from water after passing the membrane are investigated. The compositions of carbon dioxide, oxygen, and nitrogen are measured with the gas chromatography. The effects of water and exhalation gas flow rates on characteristics of gases separated from water after the membrane are showed.

It's possible for a human to breathe under water, but the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water is small and a large amount of water is necessary to obtain sufficient dissolved oxygen from water. So, large separation system with large water pumps, having large surface areas, and large battery sources are needed. Exhalation gases are used to solve this problem. Theses gases contain some oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide; they contain less oxygen and more carbon dioxide compared to air. Therefore, reduction of the amount of carbon dioxide is necessary. If exhalation gases are employed appropriately, the separation device can be made more compact. Inlet water mixed with exhalation gases is supplied into the separation device, and dissolved gases are separated from the mixed water as it passes through the device. The inlet part of a typical separation system with a water delivery pump before the membrane module has more than one atmosphere. Hence, a compressor is used to mix the exhalation gases. In this study, the pressure at the inlet due to the use of a suction pump after the membrane module was less than one atmosphere; hence, compressors were not required. Separation characteristics were studied using a separation device without a compressor. The use of exhalation gases led to an increase in the amount of dissolved gases being separated. As the amount of inlet exhalation gases was increased, the separation of dissolved gases was increased as well.

$MoO_3$ thin films were deposited on electrode and heater screen-printed alumina substrates in en atmosphere by RF reactive sputtering. The deposition was performed at $300^{\circ}C$ with 350W of a forward power in an $Ar-O_2$ atmosphere. The working pressure was maintained at $3{\times}10^{-2}$mtorr and all deposited films were annealed at $500^{\circ}C$ for 5hours. The surface morphology of films was observed by using a SEM and crystalline phases were analyzed by XRD. The sensing properties were investigated in term of gas concentration under exposure of reducing gases such as $H_2$, $NH_3$ and CO.
For the purpose of investigating the contributions of various gases to climate change, the thermal radiation associated with greenhouse gases are extracted from AIRS (Atmospheric Infrared Sounder) infrared radiances over the tropical pacific region. AIRS instrument which was launched on the EOS-Aqua satellite in May 2002 covers the spectral range from 650 cm-1 to 2700 cm-1 with a spectral resolution of between 0.4 cm-1 and 1 cm-1. In order to extract the thermal radiation absorbed by individual gases, the interfering background radiances at the top of the atmosphere are simulated using the radiative transfer code MODTRAN (MODerate spectral resolution atmospheric TRANsmittance). The simulations incorporated the temperature and water vapor profiles taken from NCEP (National Centers for Environmental Prediction) reanalyses. The differences between the simulated background radiance and AIRS-measured radiance result in the absorption of upward longwave radiation by atmospheric gases (i.e. greenhouse effect). The extracted absorption bands of individual gases will allow us to quantify the radiative forcing of individual greenhouse gases and thus those data will be useful for climate change studies and for the validation of radiative transfer codes used in general circulation models.
Traditionally, so-called "industrial waste gases", such ad exhaust from boilers at industrial installations and a large quantity of soot discharged from power station, before their release into the atmosphere, have been on occasion subjected to an air cleaning process to remove fine particles that may pollute the atmosphere (such as mist and dust containing various powdery or oily substances and moisture from industrial waste gases). The release of industrial waste gases containing these particles directly into the atmosphere poses a serious threat to the earth environment; and recovery of these noxious substances is required by law in some countries and local governments. in urban areas, air pollution from automobile exhaust and others creates a serious condition. Some homes are equipped with and use indoor air purifiers. In many of the kitchens of restaurants, smoke generated during cooking and otherwise contaminated air are cleansed by air purifiers before being released outside or recycled inside. For the dust collecting devices to recover the fine particles contained in contaminated air, the cause for air pollution and how to purify air, many types based on various principles are known. Specifically, classified based on theories of particle collection, filtration, gravity, inertia, centrifugation, electricity, and cleaning types are cited as available processes. Among them, an appropriate type is selected according to the size or type of fine particles to be collected and conditions for installation. For the efficiency of dust collection, a filtration system (by using bag filters and others) and electric system are particularly outstanding and are therefore used widely in various areas of industry. In this research, rotary type high performance oil mist and smoke collecting system with self auto cleaning device equipped with the cleaning fluid spraying section is investigated.
Background: In 2006, three farmers died at the bottom of an agricultural shallow well where the atmosphere contained only 6% oxygen. This study aimed to document the variability of levels of oxygen and selected hazardous gases in the atmosphere of wells, and to identify ambient conditions associated with the low-oxygen situation. Methods: A cross-sectional survey, conducted in June 2007 and July 2007, measured the levels of oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and explosive gas (percentage of lower explosive limit) at different depths of the atmosphere inside 253 wells in Kamphaengphet and Phitsanulok provinces. Ambient conditions and well use by farmers were recorded. Carbon dioxide was measured in a subset of wells. Variables independently associated with low-oxygen condition (<19.5%) were identified using multivariate logistic regression. Results: One in five agricultural shallow wells had a low-oxygen status, with oxygen concentration decreasing with increasing depth within the well. The deepest-depth oxygen reading ranged from 0.0% to 20.9%. Low levels of other hazardous gases were detected in a small number of wells. The low-oxygen status was independently associated with the depth of the atmosphere column to the water surface [odds ratio (OR) = 13.5 for 8-11 m vs. <6 m], depth of water (OR = 0.17 for 3-<8 m vs. 0-1 m), well cover (OR = 3.95), time elapsed since the last rainfall (OR = 7.44 for >2 days vs. <1 day), and location of well in sandy soil (OR = 3.72). Among 11 wells tested, carbon dioxide was detected in high concentration (>25,000 ppm) in seven wells with a low oxygen level. Conclusion: Oxygen concentrations in the wells vary widely even within a small area and decrease with increasing depth.

Modified atmosphere packagings were designed by combining the respiration characteristics of the enoki mushroom at 10oC and the measured film permeabilities to O2 and CO2 gases to attain the beneficial package atmosphere were fabricated and tested during storage. The packages of 100g size with 30 m low density polyethylene and cast polypropylene showed the good agreement between estimated and experimental package atmospheres. However, polyvinylchloride stretch wrap packs showed the gas composition close to the air, which was due to leaking of stretch wrapping. The CPP package attaining O2 below 1% and CO2 concentration of 15~20% gave the best retention of quality and thus the longest shelf life among the tried packages, and it was superior to the others in the Hunter L value, stipe elongation and sensory qualties.
The oxidation behavior of commercial pure titanium is investigated in the temperature range of $727^{\circ}C{\sim}950^{\circ}C$ in mixed gases. The weight change is measured by TGA during oxidation in mixed gases. The oxidation behavior indicated by weight gain or the growth of oxide layer is based on the linear rate law at high temperatures. The structure of the oxide scale formed during oxidation is analysed by optical microscopy, electron probe microanalyzer, scanning electron microscope and x-ray diffraction. Oxide scales have a $TiO_2$ structure, and are constituted with multi-layered or two layered porous external one and a dense internal one. Ti-O solid solution region is formed at the interface of metal and scale layer. The formation of oxide scale is influenced by the oxidation temperature, time, crystal structure and the condition of atmosphere.
