  • This paper is application of System Assurance(SA) for the rolling stock. As railway systems become more complex, design teams are increasingly under pressure to deliver, design solutions, which integrate both technical and Systems Assurance(SA). Systems Assurance is the application of management methods and analysis techniques to ensure that a design meets Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) criteria. It should be clearly understood that the intent of System Assurance is not just to provide analytical techniques as a metric on performance, but more importantly it should provide a management tool with which to co-ordinate and assure the whole design. System Assurance encompasses the ongoing requirement to consider safety, and RAM through each stage of a Project, from feasibility study through to commissioning and operation. If System Assurance is undertaken properly at feasibility study at the design stages of a Project, the benefits of such analyses can be significant in identifying potential problems early enough for action to be taken before manufacture or installation. At commissioning, RAMS demonstration activities are undertaken to validate the predictive and analytical techniques undertaken during the design.

  • Positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) provides both functional and anatomical images of high quality non-invasively with better precision in localization than PET alone. Increase in the use of PET/CT, coupled with increasing concerns about the quality of medical services accrued the demands for accurate evaluation of system performance and quality assurance. Thus, well designed programs for performance evaluation and quality assurance are needed. Widely used protocols for performance evaluation of PET are the methods proposed by National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) in 1994 and 2001. In addition, in order to maintain high quality of PET/CT images, quality assurance programs including periodic (daily, monthly, and yearly). Therefore, in this article, the methods and present state of performance evaluation and quality assurance of PET/CT are reviewed.

전자상거래 인증서비스에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Electronic Commerce Assurance Service)

  • In December 1999, the AICPA introduced WebTrust, a electronic commerce assurance service of ensuring safe trading on the web, in order to effect consumer confidence into electronic commerce. Shortly afterwards, CPA associations of other advanced nations, such as Canada, Australia, also adopted this service. This study focuses on introduction of electronic commerce assurance service of ensuring safe trading on the web. WebTrust assurance service expected to be the international standard in electronic commerce in the near future and not only as a source of income for domestic accounting firms, which have simpler income structure than the international counterparts, but also as catalyst for stimulating electronic commerce. The findings of the study are expected to contribute to accounting practice, academy of accounting and electronic commerce firms in the following ways. Domestically, as Korea is considering using the electronic commerce assurance service, this study will help promote adoption of WebTrust assurance service. This study has shown, in the midst of declining income of accounting firms by audit, a way to increase their audit boundary.

Visualized Assurance Approach for Enterprise Architecture

  • In software engineering, to ensure reliability between systems, describing both system architecture and assurance arguments between system elements is considered necessary. There are proposals for system architecture assurance, but use of these traditional methods often requires development of different diagrams using different editors. Because the visual sense of the traditional methods is inadequate, errors readily occur when manipulating different diagrams. Therefore, it is essential that the assurance of dependability between components and systems is visualized and easy to understand. In this paper, an integrated approach to describe the relationship between system actors and system architecture is proposed, and this approach is clarified using an enterprise architecture modeling language. A case study is carried out and comparison to the traditional approach $d^*$ framework is explained. The comparison results show that the proposed approach is more suitable for ensuring dependability in system architecture.

공급자 부품품질 향상을 위한 품질보증시스템 개선방안 (Enhancement of Quality Assurance System for Improving the Quality of Suppliers' Product)

  • A prerequisite for improving the quality of a product is to enhance the quality of its parts supplied from outsourced enterprises. An enterprise certified by ISO 9001 Quality Management System is expected to develop their effective quality assurance system and maintain it through continuous control and improvement, thereby ensuring the good quality of products that they produce. However, it is reported that small and medium-sized enterprises certified by ISO 9001 have difficulty establishing an effective quality assurance system. This study aims to propose a new method of improving a quality assurance system that can be more effective in small and medium-sized enterprises. This study collectively considered requirements specified in several international standards on quality system and the results of expert group brainstorming to identify evaluation areas and items for assessing a quality assurance system. Based on these evaluation areas and items, a set of checklists for diagnosing and improving a quality assurance system was developed. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed method, this study applied it to ten small and medium-sized enterprises and could identify four approaches for improving their current quality assurance system. The presented improvement method, which consists of establishment of quality goals and quality innovation plan, defective products corrective activities, 4M and design change process, improvement of customer quality information management, is expected to be utilized as a useful tool for the enhancement of the quality assurance system of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Kano 모델과 PCSI 지수 이용한 국방품질보증 서비스품질에 관한 연구 (A study on Service Quality of Defence Quality Assurance Activites using Kano Model & PCSI Index)

  • Purpose: Classify quality assurance work for munitions as service quality attributes. And to derive service elements that need improvement to improve customer satisfaction through calculation of customer satisfaction coefficient. Methods: The quality assurance service for munitions is classified as service quality based on the Kano model through a questionnaire survey of workers in military service companies located in Busan and Kyung-nam areas. Investigate current customer satisfaction with service quality of defense quality assurance activites, and calculate customer satisfaction coefficient and potential customer satisfaction improvement index. Results: Identify current satisfaction levels for service quality of defense quality assurance activites and suggest service quality factors that should be improved to improve customer satisfaction. Conclusion: The service quality factor for the defense quality assurance service was classified into 13, and the customer satisfaction coefficient was lower than the satisfaction coefficient. When looking at the current level of customer satisfaction through the Potential Customer Satisfaction Index, attractive quality factors with PCSI indices were found to be necessary for service improvement.

  • Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is believed to be one of the best radiation treatment techniques. IMRT is able to deliver fatal doses of radiation to the tumor region with minimal exposure of critical organs. It is essential to have a comprehensive quality assurance program to assure precision and accuracy in treatment, due to the character of IMRT. We applied quality assurance technique to the Eclipse treatment planning system and sought to determine its effectiveness in patient treatment planning. An acrylic phantom, film, and an ionization chamber were used in this study.

In this paper, we tried to develop the fundamental quality assurance procedures that can be applicable to the new-product design stage, to the production stage and to the after-sales stage of the production system.
