  • Gunpowder was invented as a result of discovering the fact that potassium nitrate acts as an oxygen carrier in the process of manufacturing traditional medicine by heating the mixture of potassium nitrate and sulfur. Rapid progress was made in dynamite manufactring technology as a result of development of basic chemistry in Europe. However, recently the demand for dynamite has decreased in favor of the ANFO explosive which is improved production technology. This study was attempted to clear the historical facts concerned with the developing process of European eaplosive technology, and intended to submitt the reference materials for researchers.

  • The new measuring method of micro-stickies considering both the effects of charge neutralization and evaporation of process water was developed by KRICT PPRC. By the new KRICT method, the contamination of metal dryer surface and other machine clothes could be estimated quickly and simultaneously. According to this study, it could be confirmed that the novel method is a useful one for the evaluation of several treatments regarding the reduction of stickies troubles.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the direction and the actual state of environmental behavior of domestic enterprises. This study focused on strategies of environmental management, manufacturing process, product distribution, and waste collection of a enterprise with regard to environmental behavior. the survey was conducted on 30 enterprises, using open type questionnaires. Results of the study were as follows : 1. Enterprises recognized the importance of environmental behavior. their environmental strategies were great, but the actual behavior was poor. 2. In the manufacturing process, environmental behavior was not practised well. 3. In the product distribution and the waste collection phase, they made little efforts for the environmental preservation.

  • Since 1996, like other countries the PSM(Process Safety Management) System has been applied into chemical plant in Korea in accordance with the Occupational Safety & Health Law section 49 paragraph 2. This report is to point out the status and the area of concern, further suggest alternative measures along with the wide and in-depth idea of improvement and recommendation to prevent from industrial accident.

  • Consumer satisfaction.dissatisfaction is a important concept which composes the quality of life. By minimizing consumer dissatisfaction and maximizing consumer satisfaction, the standard of living can increase. Considering consumer satisfaction.dissatisfaction as an outcome of decision-making process, consumer satisfaction.dissatisfaction is measured and the forces of determinant are analysed. Major results are; 1. The housewives are dissaisfied with their clothes particularily with ordinary clothes. 2. There is significant difference in consumer dissatisfaction according to the situational variables such as demographics and value types. 3. There is significant difference in consumer dissatisfaction according to the process variable such as disconfirmation. 4. Consumer dissatisfaction is influenced by demographics, vale types, and disconfirmation.

  • Multivariate data analysis tools were used to improve the understanding of the wet end chemistry and white water system of the Papermill at NorskeCanada Crofton Division. Specifically, the analysis was aimed at identifying what variables were contributing to increased retention aid use and wet end instability. Several models were developed using data sets with up to 88 process variables and over 3000 observations. It was found that increased retention aid use was driven primarily by PCC and TMP usage as well as the addition of Alaskan White Spruce to the TMP furnish.

  • This study attempts to apply process drama in teaching Korean speaking. For that goal, the first part of the study introduces the main features of process drama exploring the possible use of teaching Korean speaking, and the second part presents a concrete example of developing a unit of the Sejong intermediate Korean conversation coursebook which was designed using a process drama method. Process drama is a process-oriented drama activity which progresses only with the teacher and students' spontaneous participation. With its unique meaning-oriented interaction paradigm, it has been suggested as an effective way of teaching and learning a foreign language. Since it emphasizes students' spontaneity, cooperation, and authentic communication, it commonly provides plenty of opportunities for students to interact in a meaningful context. Despite its effectiveness in teaching speaking, it has rarely been used in KFL contexts. Considering the limited opportunities to practice speaking in KFL classrooms, using a communication-rich activity such as process drama would be an optimal solution. This study, therefore, examines possible application of process drama in teaching Korean speaking, and introduces sample speaking materials designed for KFL intermediate learners.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Practices and Firm Performance: Empirical Evidence from Hotel Industry in Thailand

  • The main purposes of this study are (1) to investigate the extent and level of corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices of the hotel in Thailand, (2) to test the different level of CSR practices of the hotel between CSR-in-process and CSR-after-process, and (3) to examine the effect of CSR practices on hotel's performance measured by balanced scorecard (BSC). This study employs survey data collected from 402 owners and executives of hotels in Thailand. Descriptive analysis, paired sample t-test, correlation matrix, and multiple regression were used to analyze the data from the mailed questionnaire. The results show that both CSR-in-process and CSR-after-process practices of hotels were at a high level. However, the level of CSR-in-process practice of hotels was significantly higher than CSR-after-process practice. Moreover, the study found the positive effect of both CSR-in-process and CSR-after-process practices on hotel performance measured by BSC. The results of sensitivity analysis also show the positive effect of CSR-in-process and CSR-after-process practices on each of all six perspectives of BSC. The findings of this study can point to the reasonable reason why hotels should implement CSR practices into their business strategies. In addition, the study demonstrates that stakeholder theory can explain the effect of CSR practices on corporate performance.

The Generating Processes of Scientific Emotion in the Generation of Biological Hypotheses (생물학 가설의 생성에서 나타난 과학적 감성의 생성 과정)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the generating processes of scientific emotion, that appears during the generation of biological hypotheses. To perform the study, a tentative model was set up through pilot test, a think-aloud training procedure was planned and a standardized interview instrument was developed before getting protocols. In this study, 8 college students were selected to bring out protocol through the method of think-aloud, retrospective debriefing, focused interview and observing. As the result of analysis of the collected protocol through coding scheme, 4 types of process for scientific emotion-generating were sorted out. First type was a basic process which was a feeling process in prior to recognition. Second type was a retrospective process that explains the process of retrospect for emotional memory based on the past. Third type was a cognitive process and it explains emotion that occurs during thinking process to achieve cognitive goal. Fourth type was an attribution process and it explains that emotion is generated in the process of attribution for cognitive goal's achievement. These types of process of scientific emotion-generating can contribute the basis for developing cognitive model of EBL (Emotional Brain-based Learning) strategy.
