  • In order to develop an indoor assistive mobility equipment, we paid attention to the mechanism of locomotion in a snail, or a terrestrial gastropod molluscs. It is known that the snail moves by propagation of a pedal wave generating on a pedal surface of the snail and a pedal locomotion has flexibility far ground condition. An air mattress with a function of a pedal-like locomotion mechanism was developed and the performance of the pedal locomotory air mattress as mobility equipment was discussed.

  • Recently the exoskeletal power assistive equipment which is a kind of wearable robot has been widely developed to help the human body motion. For the elderly people and patients, however, some limits exist due to the weight and volume of the equipments. As a feasible solution, a tendon-driven exoskeletal power assistive device fur the lower body, and caster walker are proposed in this research. Since the caster walker carries the heavy items, the weight and volume of the wearable exoskeleton are minimized. The key control is used to generate the joint torque required to assist motions such as sitting, standing and walking. Experiments were performed for several motions and the EMG sensors were used to measure the magnitude of assistance. When the motion of sitting down and standing up was compared with and without wearing the proposed device, the $25\%$ assistance was acquired.

Besides, the preceding study offers proper noun dictionary so, henceforward study has problem to innumerable proper noun processing. This paper suggests a method of proper noun processing using a mobile smart equipment. And via the button with virtual keyboard input method and the errors that can occur is also proposing a complementary way. AAC system to check availability for application on Android has been implemented. Experimental results, depending on user location and selection of proper nouns in the around could produce a sentence is derived.

  • In this study, we propose a non-contact circular eddy current load brake using permanent magnet that can be applied to the rehabilitation exercise equipment. The circular eddy current load brake is manufactured and is evaluated for performance. This has the torque value of 49% compared to a "ㄷ" type eddy current load brake having a fixed load. And we confirmed that load is regulated due to the conductivity and air gap. Proposed load brake is adjustable according to the user's condition and can be applied to the equipment having advantages such as miniaturization and cost reduction.

  • In previous studies, the dynamic exercise equipment just focused on the trunk stabilization exercise. However, our study is targeted at evaluation for the impact on the postural balance of those researches. Twelve male and twelve female subjects were volunteered for the balance training using this system. They had no medical history of backpain for the past six months. Trunk Stability and postural balance training was performed for 15 minutes a day, three times a week duing four weeks. To evaluate characterization of the postural balance using Balance System SD, Evaluation consist of the postural stability test and the postural limit test. As a result, this training with 3D dynamic exercise equipment help subjects improve the postural balance. These results are expected for using basic materials to the elderly with a high risk of falling and trained athletes needed to be a postural control.

  • Korea's long-term care insurance for the elderly, which started in 2008, is a borrowed one from gaeho insurance, which started eight years earlier. Both countries have a policy of welfare equipment benefit systems to support the lives of the elderly who are intellectually and mentally weakened. In this study, we attempted to compare and examine the welfare equipment items in Korea with those in Japan and find out the characteristics of the items in Korea and Japan. In Korea, loitering-detection device, posture changing devices, and incontinence underwears were registered as welfare devices before Japan, and in Japan, automatic urine disposal systems, wheelchair electric assist device, position converters, and lifts for handicapped person were designated as welfare devices before Korea. In addition, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has announced the designation of the excretion prediction support device as a welfare device. If Korea and Japan cooperate to develop welfare equipment items together, it will be of great help in improving the quality of life of the elderly in both countries in a super-aged society.

  • This is a pilot study to survey the general demand of senior-assistive necessities before a standardization system for senior-assistive necessities is developed as well as to describe health professionals' opinions about the demand and quality of Oriental medical aids and necessities for daily living for the elderly. This is a descriptive survey in which 29 health professionals are questioned, using structured questionnaires based on ISO 9999. The questionnaires were developed by 7 expert conduction standardization system of senior-assistive products in Korea. The data is analyzed by descriptive statistics. The result is as follows : First, with regard to the demand for all of the items in Oriental medical aids for the elderly, the demand of cupping glasses is the highest, followed by instrument used to apply heat treatment, massage equipment, thermo-therapeutic mattress, and heat or ice packs. With regard to the demand for all of the items for the necessities for daily living for the elderly, chairs are the highest, followed by rolling chairs, beds for health, and heigh adjustable beds. Second, with regard to quality of Oriental medical aids, ${\ulcorner}$aids for hair care${\lrcorner}$ are the best, whereas ${\ulcorner}$aids for boiling Oriental medicine${\lrcorner}$ are the worst. In quality of the necessities for daily living, ${\ulcorner}$chairs${\lrcorner}$ are the best, whereas ${\ulcorner}$beds${\lrcorner}$ are the worst. Above all, this result shows that with ${\ulcorner}$aids for heat or cold treatment${\lrcorner}$, there is relatively high demand and low quaily of Oriental medical aids, and with ${\ulcorner}$Beds${\lrcorner}$, there is relatively high demand and low quality. Therefore, aids for heat or cold treatment and beds in th necessities for daily living are required to be developed for standardization of senior-assistive necessities.

  • Objective: The objective this paper is to introduce the agricultural ergonomics and to show the importance of it in improving the agricultural works. Background: Despite of rapid advancement of technologies and adoption of modern mechanical equipments at farms in Korea, most of agricultural works have still remained manual and thus have regarded as one of the hardest works. With aging and feminization in rural areas, the need to improve agricultural works has grown quite much. Agricultural ergonomics have been known as a good tool in improving agricultural works around the world. Recently Korean government initiated a national program of providing assistive equipments to help farmers and a few ergonomists started to apply agricultural ergonomics in our rural villages as a part of this program. Method: This study reviewed how Ergonomics was used for the agricultural work. Results: Methods of Ergonomics which are used for the agricultural ergonomics and the simple procedure of the agricultural ergonomics were presented. Conclusion: It was found that agricultural works can be improved quite much using the agricultural ergonomics principle and the musculoskeletal stress of farmers can be reduced significantly.
