치과기공사의 직무만족 요인이 이직의사에 미치는 영향 분석 (Analysis of the effect of dental technicians' job satisfaction factor on turnover intention)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to determine dental technicians' job satisfaction levels and to assess its influence on turnover intention. Methods: We included 230 dental technicians who work within Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, the Gyeonggi Province, and the Chungcheongnam-do Province. We carried out a self-reported survey using a structured questionnaire. Results: As a result of assessing the research subjects' job satisfaction level, we found that there was a significant difference in working hours and a dental-work continuing plan sphere (p<0.05). Achievement & self-realization factors, the human relation factor, and growth & development factors were reported to be major job satisfaction indices. The whole average of the job satisfaction level came to 3.11, thereby appearing to be relatively high. In analyzing the research subjects' turnover intention, there was a significant difference in age, task field, dental-work career, working hours, incumbency, and dental-work continuing plan sphere (p<0.05). The question average for turnover intention was 2.88. As a result of assessing a correlation between job satisfaction and turnover intention, a significant negative (-) correlation was found between job satisfaction and turnover intention. Thus, a higher job satisfaction level was observed to lead to a lower turnover intention. Conclusion: As a result of conducting a regression analysis in order to assess the influence of job satisfaction on a turnover intention, a working condition factor, a human relation factor, and a recognition factor each appeared to have a high impact.

Assessment of anterior-posterior jaw relationships in Korean adults using the nasion true vertical plane in cone-beam computed tomography images

  • Objective: The aims of this study were to investigate a simple method for assessing anterior-posterior jaw relationships via cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images taken in the natural head position (NHP) relative to the nasion true vertical plane (NTVP), and measure normative data in Korean adults with normal profiles. Methods: Subjects were selected from patients presenting for third molar extraction and evaluated as having normal profiles by three examiners. The CBCT images of 80 subjects (39 males, 41 females) were taken in the NHP according to Solow and Tallgren's method. Linear measurements of the A-point, B-point, and Pog were calculated relative to the NTVP. Student's t -test was used to assess sexual differences in these measurements. Results: The mean linear measurements of the A-point, B-point, and Pog relative to the NTVP were 0.18 mm (standard deviation [SD], 4.77 mm), -4.00 mm (SD, 6.62 mm), and -2.49 mm (SD, 7.14 mm) respectively in Korean males, and 1.48 mm (SD, 4.21 mm), -4.07 mm (SD, 6.70 mm) and -2.91 mm (SD, 7.25 mm) in Korean females respectively. There were no statistically significant differences between Korean males and females (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Three-dimensional CBCT analysis using the NTVP is a simple and reliable method for assessing anterior-posterior skeletal relationships.

자기공명영상 (Magnetic Resonance Image)을 통한 요통 환자의 다열근 위축에 대한 후향적 연구 (The Retrospective Study on the Correlation between the Multifidus Muscle Atrophy on Low Back Pain Patients and the Magnetic Resonance Images)

  • Objectives : In the assessment of the lumbar spine by magnetic resonance imaging (hereinafter, "MRI"), changes in the paraspinal muscles are overlooked. The purpose of our study is to examine the correlation between the multifidus muscle atrophy on MRI findings and the clinical findings in low back pain (hereinafter, "LBP") patients. Methods : The retrospective study on 38 LBP patients, presenting either with or without associated leg pains, was undertaken. The MRI findings on the patients were visually analysed to find out a lumbar multifidus muscle atrophy, disc herniation, disc degeneration, spinal stenosis and nerve root compressions. The clinical history in each case was obtained from their case notes and pain drawing charts. Results : The lumbar multifidus muscle atrophy has occurred from more than 80% of the patients with LBP. Most of lumbar multifidus muscle atrophies have increased from lower level of lumbar spine. It was bilateral in the majority of the cases. In addition, multifidus muscle atrophy was correlated to the patient's age, disc degenerations and spinal stenosis. On the contrary, gender, the duration of LBP, referred leg pain, disc herniation and nerve root compressions had no relevance to multifidus muscle atrophies. Therefore, when assessing the MRIs of the lumbar spine, we should have more attetion on multifidus muscle, because it has lot's of information about spinal neuropathy problems. Conclusions : Therefore, the examination of multifidus muscle atrophies should be considered when assessing the MRIs of the lumbar spine. In addition, it helps to evaluate and plan the treatment modalities of LBP. Moreover, it prevents from LBP by discovering the importance between the multifidus muscle and the spine stabilization exercise.

Assessing changes of peri-implant bone using digital subtraction radiography

  • Digital subtraction radiography may be one of the most precise and noninvasive methods for assessing subtle density changes in peri-implant bone, providing additional diagnostic information on implant tissue integration in overall maintenance. The aims of this study were to evaluate density changes after first, second surgery of dental implant and to measure the amount of marginal bone loss 9 months after second surgery using digital subtraction radiography. Bone change around 30 screw-shaped implants in 16 patients were assessed on radiographs. 17 Branemark implants of 3.75mm in diameter(Nobel Biocare, Goteborg, Sweden), 2 Branemark implants of 5.0mm in diameter, 11 $Replace^{TM}$ implants of 4.3mm in diameter(Nobel Biocare, Goteborg, Sweden) were used. To standardize the projection geometry of serial radiographs of implants, customized bite block was fabricated using XCP film holder(Rinn Corporation, Elgin, IL.) with polyether impression material of Impregum(ESPE, Germany) and direct digital image was obtained. Qualitative and quantitative changes on radiographs were measured with Emago software(The Oral Diagnostic System, Amsterdam, Netherlands). The results were as follows: 1. The peri-implant bone density of 69.2% implants did not change and the peri-implant bone density of 30.8% implants decreased after 3 months following first surgery. 2. The crestal bone density of 53.9% implants decreased first 3 months after second surgery. The crestal bone density of 58.8% implants increased 9 months after second surgery. No density change was observed around the midportion of the implants after second surgery, 3. The amount of marginal bone loss between different kinds of implants showed no statistically significant differences (p>0.05). 4. More than 90% of total marginal bone loss recorded in a 9-month period occurred during the first 3 months.

직접간호중재로서 부항요법이 욕창에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Bu-Hang Therapy on Sore as Immediate Nursing Intervention)

  • This study was experienced study of one group pretest-posttest design to confirm the effects of Bu-Hang therapy on sore and the study of subjects were high-danger group of developing sore that were instituted in Chung-Book A area. The data collection was conducted 11 subjects of high-danger group on developing sore as participants agreed in study after assessing sore danger-degree of 30 subjects with institute administrator. The duration of study was carried out between March, 1999 and September, 2000. The instrumental tool of study was assessing tool of modified sore danger-degree that was based on Braden Scale(1985) by developing of Bergstorm. The subjects of study were applied on sore site or easily developing site by Geon-Hang technique, one time for one day. The assess of sore duration treatment period were measured area of sore, assessed state of skin by Bergstrom, Braden, Lanquzza & Holman(1987). The analysis of collected data were showed by frequency, percentage on demographic characteristics. And effects of Bu-Hang therapy on sore were confirmed by contrast comparison of signal-test or case studies. The results of study were described below. 1. Bu-Hang therapy effected to inhibit of developing sore and decrease of sign and symptom on sore in 11 subjects, all(P=.010). 2. Bu-Hang therapy decrease of sign and symptom on sore in 6 subjects of case studies, all(P=.031). Conclusively, Bu-Hang therapy will facilitate for nursing intervention on sore. But this study was difficult to confirm effects of Bu-Hang therapy pretest-posttest design. Therefore, Bu-Hang therapy is high enable to decrease for sore but, yet is needed to monitor affectively for nursing intervention.

치조골 높이 측정시 표준촬영과 교익촬영의 비교 (RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN BITEWING AND PERIAPICAL RADIOGRAPHS IN ASSESSING CRESTAL ALVEOLAR BONE LEVELS)

  • Bitewing and periapical radiographic techniques are used in clinical and epidemiological studies to assess crestal alveolar bone levels. The purpose of the present study investigated relationships between these techniques by assessing alveolar crest location at the same site. Bitewing and periapical radiographs were available from posterior quadrants of 120 subjects. The distance from cemento-enamel junction to the alveolar crest (CEJ -CR) was measured for each proximal surface from the distal of the cuspid to the distal of the second molar. Data were arranged according to the proximal surface examined, and bitewing and periapical measurements were compared using paired tests. The obtained results were as follows; 1. In maxilla, a significant t ratio with a P value of 0.05 or less was reached for 78% and in mandible reached for 39%. 2. Pearson correlations were calculated 32 surfaces (89%) had values below 0.70 and so, data obtained by these techniques can not be used interchangeably on an individual or group basis. 3. In situations where the periapical measure was greater than the bitewing, it ranged up to 20.7% greater with a mean 9.8%. Where the bitewing was greater than periapical, it ranged up to 51. 9% greater, with a mean 18.2%. 4. The percentage difference was greater in maxillary posterior areas than in mandibular molar, premolar areas. A lower prevalence of significant differences was attributed to relatively more simple root and favorable radiographic conditions in mandibular molar and premolar areas. 5. The anatomical limitations imposed on periapical radiographic technique, most often result in somewhat foreshortened radiographic images. This situation would tend to be accentuated by the anatomical restrictions of the hard palate. 6. Consequently, since the significant differences frequently exist between measurements obtained from bitewing and periapical techniques, it is important to define which technique is used.

가임기 여성을 위한 엽산섭취빈도조사지 개발 및 평가 (Development and Evaluation of the Semi-quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire to Assess Folate Intake in Women of Child-bearing Age)

  • The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate the simple semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) for assessing folate intake in women of reproductive age. We developed a 30-item FFQ, and tested the reliability and validity in 97 women aged between 20 and 39 yrs using the FFQs and 24-h recalls, which were carried out twice, respectively. Assessing the reliability, the correlation coefficients were 0.53 (Spearman's) and 0.49 (Pearson's) for folate. There was no significant difference of folate intake between FFQ1 and FFQ2. 36.1% subjects were classified into the same quartile and 83.5% into the same or adjacent quartile divided by folate intake. On determining the validity, the mean folate intake obtained from the FFQ (FFQ1) and 24h-recalls (2-d) were $306.6{\pm}167.2{\mu}g/d$ and $326.9{\pm}103.3{\mu}g/d$, respectively. There was no significant difference between folate intakes from the two methods. The correlation coefficients for folate were 0.24 (Spearman's) and 0.26 (Pearson's). 39.2% of the subjects were categorized into the same quartile and 70.1% were into the same or adjacent quartile. In addition, sensitivity (64.3%) and specificity (62.3%) were estimated to evaluate the adequacy of folate intake. These results suggest that this FFQ would be a useful and a valuable instrument to assess the intake of folate among the Korean women of child-bearing age.

지역사회획득폐렴 환자의 중증도 평가에서 Procalcitonin 유용성 (Usefulness of Procalcitonin in the Assessing the Severity of Community-Acquired Pneumonia Patient)

  • Background: Thus far, research studies on community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) have focused on its clinical severity. Recently, it has been determined that procalcitonin (PCT) level is correlated with severity of CAP. A retrospective study conducted at our hospital used risk predictability and PCT to determine whether or no PCT is useful in assessing the severity of CAP. Methods: This study covered 92 CAP cases that were admitted to the respiratory department at Changwon Fatima Hospital between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009. All enrolled subjects were measured for infection markers and risk predictability. Results: Based on hospital admission data, enrolled subjects had Pneumonia Severity Index (PSI) scores serving as risk predictors showed that both PCT and white blood cell (WBC) were statistically significant as infection markers (p=0.001, 0.037). Thus, this study used ROC curves in PSI for data analysis. As a result, it was determined that the area under curve (AUC) of PCT and WBC was 0.694 and 0.593 respectively, indicating that PCT has a higher test value for WBC, when PCT was higher than 0.745 ng/mL. In addition, it was found that PCT levels higher than 0.745 ng/mL had higher PSI scores than the group with PCT lower than 0.745 ng/mL (p=0.032). Conclusion: In order to predict risk of pneumonia cases admitted due to symptoms of CAP, it is important to consider PCT as well as PSI, and follow-up monitoring of PCT cases.

Assessment of ASP-PMIS Quality in Korea

  • Web-based PMIS (Project Management Information System) has played significant role in construction management processes in Korea. As the use of web-based PMIS increases, regular quality assessment to identify user's requirements is necessary. However, there have been rare research efforts for quality assessment of web-based PMIS. This study aims to assess the quality of web-based PMIS, especially ASP-PMIS (Application Service Provider based PMIS) that is widely used in Korean construction industry. The assessment factors of ASP-PMIS quality were adopted from previous research and empirically confirmed using exploratory factor analysis. ISA (Importance-Satisfaction Analysis), which is a variation of original IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis), were selected for the assessment and analysis method in this research. A total of 253 completed questionnaires, composed of 23 assessment items, were collected from the ASP-PMIS users in Korea (construction managers and constructors), and they were used to analyse the quality of the systems. Some possible contributions of this research are: it introduces a simple and easy-to-use tool for assessing the quality of ASP-PMIS with a set of quality assessment factors that are selected from previous researches and empirically tested; it provides the quality assessment results of ASP-PMIS in Korea so that ASP-PMIS providers in Korea can understand the users' opinion on their systems; it also identified that the urgent factors that require immediate attention to improvement. However, further researches are to be required on the following areas: enhancing the quality assessment factors in terms of their relation to the success of ASP-PMIS and to the users' performance; assessing and analyzing the quality of individual ASP-PMIS; establishing continuous improvement systems institutionally and instrumentally.

건설 프로젝트 효율적 성과관리를 위한 핵심 지표 체계 구축 (Developing Measurement System for Key Performance Indicators on Building Construction Projects)

  • 건설산업의 핵심성과는 프로젝트가 추구하는 목표, 즉, 비용, 시간, 품질, 안전, 환경 등의 기준을 어느 정도 달성했는지로 평가할수 있다. 그러나, 프로젝트 기반산업이라고 할 수 있는 건설산업의 경우, 성과에 대한 명확한 정의체계가 부재하고, 성과측정에 대한 표준화된 절차와 관리 방식이 구축되어 있지 않아서 프로젝트의 성과를 객관적이고 합리적으로 평가하기가 매우 어려운 것이 현실이다. 본 연구에서는 프로젝트 차원의 성과에 대한 정의 및 기준을 설정하고, 각 성과기준 댈 지표 산출 방식을 개발한 후, 이들 지표를 통해 정량적으로 프로젝트의 성과를 산출할 수 있는 방법론을 제안하고자 한다. 제안된 성과측정 방법론에 입각하여, 실제 사례 프로젝트를 수집하고, 이들을 비교 분석해 봄으로써, 향후 건설 프로젝트에 적용가능 한지에 대한 평가를 실시하였다. 이를 통해 특정한 건설 프로젝트는 상호 비교가능한 지표의 형태로 변환될 수 있으며, 개별프로젝트의 성과를 종합적으로 분석하는 것이 가능해진다. 또한, 건설 프로젝트 관련자로 하여금 성과에 입각한 관리를 가능하도록 유도하여 건설 프로젝트의 효율성을 진작시키는데 큰 역할을 담당할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
