  • Advances in information technology (IT) are becoming one of the most significant driving forces changing the structure of global financial management. This phenomenon is occurring in all industries ; the hotel industry is no exception and must quickly adapt to this new trend. This study discusses IT investment in the hospitality industry with a particular emphasis on assessing the value of IT investment and its investment strategy.

  • This article tries to develop an instrument for assessing the quality of housing environment by using 67 housing environment variables. The method of factor analysis is used to explore the dimension of the quality of housing. As the result, 5 dimensions of housing environment are extracted. They are, according to the order of their importances, house structure and indoor environment, outdoor facilities and natural environment, indoor facilities and economy, public facilities and social relationship, and convenient facilities and residential feasibility.

  • The cytokinesis-block micronucleus assay have been emerged as one of the preferred method for assessing chromosome damage. Micronucleus are small, extranuclear bodies that are formed in mitosis from acentric chromosomal fragments or chromosome that are not included in each daughter nuclei.(omitted)

  • This paper presents a valuation methodology for optional calling plan contracts on free-phone calls in the telephone industry. Utilization of the model is not limited to valuation and consequent decision making for the subscribers; it provides a useful guideline for telephone companies in designing calling plans and assessing subscribers' behavior.

  • This paper suggests the“infinite-retailer model”to approximate expected backorders per cycle of the One-warehouse N-retailer distribution system where the warehouse holds back some of the replenishment quantity to satisfy retailer backorders at the end of the cycle through direct shipping to customers. The main objective is to show the functional relationship between the warehouse inventory and the expected backorders per cycle. We illustrate the relationship using a uniform demand case.

  • Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), a non-parametric productivity analysis tool, has become an accepted approach for assessing efficiency in a wide range of fields. Despite of its extensive applications and merits, some features of DEA remain bothersome. DEA offers no guideline about to which direction relatively inefficient DMUs improve since a reference set of an inefficient DMU, several efficient DMUs, hardly provides a stepwise path for improving the efficiency of the inefficient DMU.In this paper, we aim to show that DEA can be used to evaluate the efficiency of life insurance companies while overcoming its limitation with the aids of machine learning methods.

  • An attempt has been made to summarize the research and development on the topic of assessing the status of composite Insulators used for outdoor power delivery. Advances made in the evaluation of the electrical performance are discussed. The findings are applicable to other composite insultaing systems, as well. Aspects that have been understood well enough to be of practical use, and those needing further research are outlined.
