  • This experimental study on high strength lightweight concrete using compound materials has been performed. In which, expanded clay was used as coarse aggregate, and silica fume and fly ash as admixtures varying by 0, 10% and 0, 5, 10, 15, 20% of cement amount respectively were added. Thus, the properties of fresh and hardened concrete have been investigated. The results of this study can be summarized as follows ; Each slump loss of mixtures replaced fly ash has been decreased by increasing replacement rate. The compressive strength have shown 465, 428 and $401kgf/cm^2$ at 30, 40 and 50% of W/B in 28days respectively, all of which have satisfied the criterion $270kgf/cm^2$ of high strength lightweight concrete. The unit volume weight of hardened concrete has been decreased by increasing replacement rate of silica fume and fly ash, values of which have satisfied the criterion $2000kgf/cm^3$of light weight concrete.

  • An experiment was conducted with male broiler chicks to determine the effect of different dietary phosphorus sources and evaluate the biological availability of phosphorus sources. The biological availability of phosphorus from dicalcium phosphate (DCP) was used as a reference standard (100%) compared to defluorinate phosphate (DFP). DCP and DFP was supplemented to a corn-soy basal diet at levels of 0.05, 0.15, 0.25, 0.35%. Each of 24 pens of 10 male broiler chicks with three replications was used for three weeks. The results indicated that weight gain, feed in-take, feed efficiency, nonphytic phosphorus (NPP) and tibia ash were significantly different among treatments. Dietary supplemental phosphorus of DFP improved weight gain, NPP intake and feed efficiency consistently, whereas supplements of DCP did not show consistent increase. Regression equations was used for the availability of DPP compared with DCP when percent bone ash was a function of total phosphorus in the diet. The percent (%) bone ash of DFP groups compared to that of DCP groups showed a value of 59.98% as a slope ratio. DFP indicated lower biological availability compared to DCP, but it's dietary supplementation tended to increase bone ash and maximize the growth of young broiler chicks.

  • This study is to find out how the 4 types of calcium salt such as calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, calcium lactate and calcium citrate in soy protein diet, the vegetable protein source, affect the calcium utilization in the body. To do so, calcium, phosphate and creatinine concentration and ALP activity in blood as well as the content of calcium and ash, the length, weight strength, and the calcium utilization in the bone were measured. Four groups of Sprague-Dawley male rats with the weight of around 180g were fed for 3 weeks with the experimental diet. Each group was fed with the isolated soy protein containing 14% of the diet and the above mentioned 4 types of calcium salt as the calcium source. The results are as follows; 1. There were no differences of the feed intake, weight gain, and feed efficiency among groups. 2. ALP activity in blood was sinificantly high in calcium lactate group(P<0.05), but there were no differences of concentration of calcium, phosphates, and creatinine in blood among groups. 3. The weight, calcium content, calcium ratio in ash and the strength of bone were low when calcium lactate was provided(P<0.05). 4. The content of calcium in the liver was high in calcium lactate group and calcium citrate group(P<.0.05). 5. The exceretion of feces was low in calcium lactate group(P<0.05) and the excretion of urine was also relatively low. In addition, the ratio of absorption and the retention of calcium were high(P<0.05). In summary, out of four types of calcium salt such as calcium carbontate, calcium phosphate, calcium lactate and calcium citrate when calcium lactate was provided the ALP activity in blood was high and the weight, calcium content, calcium ratio in ash and the strength of bone were low. In calcium utilization, the ratio of absorption and retention of calcium were high, however it has lower effect than 3 other calcium types in improving weight, the content of calcium and the strength of bone.

  • Paper sludge ash was assured as material of a sort of pozzolan. For the reason of fluidity decrease caused by the strong absorption of paper stooge ash and the decrease of compressive strength in case of using over30% replacement by the weight of cement, paper sludge ash is not suitable for blending material. Therefore, it is necessary to find proper replacement ratios between paper sludge and blast furnace slag to insure compressive compensation and appropriate slump. Accordingly, as varied the blending ratios of paper sludge and blast furnace slag, testing mortar was made. This study was aimed to investigate the possibility of using blending replacement of paper sludge ash and blast furnace slag throughout compressive test, flow test, SEM(Scanning Eletron Microscope), MIP(Mercury Intrusion Porosity test), and TG-DTA(Thermal analysis).

  • This article presents the flexural behaviour of reinforced fly ash (FA)-based geopolymer concrete (GPC) beams with partial replacement of FA for about 10% by weight with paper sludge ash (PSA). The beams were made of M35 grade concrete and cured under three curing conditions for comparison viz., ambient curing, external exposure curing, and oven curing at $60^{\circ}C$. The beams were experimentally tested at the 28th day of casting after curing by conducting two-point loading flexural test. Performance aspects such as load carrying capacity, first crack load, load-deflection and moment-curvature behaviours of both types of beams were experimentally studied and their results were compared under different curing conditions. To verify the response of reinforced GPC beams numerically, an ANSYS 13.0 finite element program was also used. The result shows that there is a good agreement between computer model failure behaviour with the experimental failure behaviour.

  • In this study the characteristics of adiabatic and lightweight of cement mortar was improved by using porous Bottom ash which was industrial waste. when a foaming agent was added, the characteristics of mortar using sand and Bottom ash were compared. From the empirical results the heat-transfer ratio for the mortar using Bottom ash only was shown the lower values than that for a general mortar, and the lightweight concrete with unit weight of 1.5t/$\textrm{m}^3$ could be made. When the foaming agent of 0.25% and 0.5% in usage of cement was added to that, the compressive strength scould be measured as 5 and 8times of the general mortar respectively. Also, the characteristics of adiabatic for that mortar was great improved so that the heat-transfer ratio was fallen to 0.172kcal/$mh^{\circ}C$.

  • The purpose of this study was to research on compressibility characteristics of waste tire powder-added lightweight soil(TLS) for recycling dredged soil, bottom ash and waste tire. The TLS used in this experiment consists of dredged soil, cement, waste tire powder and bottom ash. Test specimens were prepared with various content of waste tire powder ranged from 0% to 100% at 25% intervals by the dried weight of dredged soil. Several series of one-dimensional consolidation tests were carried out. Based on the experimental results, as the waste tire powder increased, the swelling index of TLS increased. The compression index and swelling index of the TLS with bottom ash content showed lower value than without bottom ash. Then, compressibility characteristics of TLS were strongly influenced by mixing conditions of waste tire powder content and bottom ash content.

  • In this paper, the effect of the volcanic ash dyed on cotton knitted fabrics was studied in various ways. A cationic agent was used to improve the depth of color of the fabric in the dyeing process. K/S values of dyed fabrics were measured to examine the dyeing properties. Cationic agent pretreatment, followed by dyeing with volcanic ash, was tested. In the dyeing experiment, the effects of a wide range of parameters such as the concentration of cationic agent, treatment time, treatment temperature and treatment pH of the dyebath were studied. Experimental results showed that the pretreatment with cationic agent improved the dyeing properties of cotton knitted fabrics with volcanic ash. At this point, concentration of cationic agent was 4%(on weight of fabric), treatment time was 40minutes, treatment temperature was 80 C and treatment pH of the dyebath was a neutral condition.
