Sulfur Tolerance Effects on Sr0.92Y0.08Ti0.5Fe0.5O3-δ as an Alternative Anode in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

  • $Sr_{0.92}Y_{0.08}Ti_{0.5}Fe_{0.5}O_{3-{\delta}}$ (SYTF0.5) is investigated as an alternative anode in $H_2$ fuels containing $H_2S$ (0-200 ppm). Although additional ionic conductivity is introduced by aliovalent substitution of $Ti^{4+}$ by $Fe^{3+}$ in the B-site, the SYTF0.5 has lower electrical conductivity than that of the $Sr_{0.92}Y_{0.08}TiO_{3-{\delta}}$. Due to the mixed ionic and electronic conductive (MIEC) property exhibited in the SYTF0.5 anode, the electrochemical performance of the SYTF0.5 anode is improved, as well as the sulfur tolerance. The maximum power densities in $H_2$ at $900^{\circ}C$ for the SYT anode and the SYTF0.5 anode were 56.9 and $98.6mW/cm^2$, respectively. The maximum power density in the SYTF0.5 anode at 200 ppm of $H_2S$ concentration decreased by only 12.9% (86.3 to $75.2mW/cm^2$).

  • Dispersion stability of the $Sm_xCe_{1-x}O_{2-2/x}$ nanoparticles, which was produced by hydrothermal process, was studied in aqueous suspension using ESA (Eletrokinetic Sonic Amplitude). The average particle size of the synthesized $Sm_xCe_{1-x}O_{2-2/x}$ at nanoparticles was about $5{\pm}2nm$. The dispersion and rheological behavior of the $Sm_xCe_{1-x}O_{2-2/x}$ nanoparticles aqueous suspension was investigated using $NH_4OH\;and\;HNO_3$ as a disperse agent. The colloidal stability of aqueous suspensions with $Sm_xCe_{1-x}O_{2-2/x}$ nanoparticles at different pH values has been investigated by means of zeta potential, average particle size, and the distribution of synthesized $Sm_xCe_{1-x}O_{2-2/x}$ nanoparticles. The isoelectric point of the $Sm_xCe_{1-x}O_{2-2/x}$ nanoparticles was at pH around 11 and the value of zeta potential was at its maximum near pH 6.5.

  • $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ nanoparticles (0.3 mol%) have been successfully synthesized by the co-precipitation process. The samples, adjusted to pH7 with ammonia solution as catalyst and calcined at $700{\sim}900^{\circ}C$, exhibit very fine particles with close to spherical shape and average size of 10-30 nm. It was possible to control the size of the synthesized $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ particles by manipulating the conditions. The $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ nanoparticles were coated on a glass substrate by a dipping coating process with inorganic binder. The $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ solution coated on the glass substrate had excellent adhesion of 5B; pencil hardness test results indicated an excellent hardness of 6H. The thickness of the thick film was about $30{\mu}m$. Decomposition of MB on the $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ thin film shows that the photocatalytic properties were excellent.

  • Non-Alkali multicomponent $La_2O_3-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ glasses has been designed and analyzed on the basis of a mixture design experiment with constraints. 나노 MgO-CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 glass 첨가제를 가진 AlN의 소결거동 및 열전도도 (Sintering Behavior and Thermal Conductivity of Aluminum Nitride Ceramics with MgO-CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 Nano-glass Additive)

  • In this study, $MgO-CaO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ (MCAS) nanocomposite glass powder having a mean particle size of 50 nm and a specific surface area of $40m^2/g$ is used as a sintering additive for AlN ceramics. Densification behaviors and thermal properties of AlN with 5 wt% MCAS nano-glass additive are investigated. Dilatometric analysis and isothermal sintering of AlN-5wt% MCAS compact demonstrates that the shrinkage of the AlN specimen increases significantly above $1,300^{\circ}C$ via liquid phase sintering of MCAS additive, and complete densification could be achieved after sintering at $1,600^{\circ}C$, which is a reduction in sintering temperature by $200^{\circ}C$ compared to conventional $AlN-Y_2O_3$ systems. The MCAS glass phase is satisfactorily distributed between AlN particles after sintering at $1,600^{\circ}C$, existing as an amorphous secondary phase. The AlN specimen attained a thermal conductivity of $82.6W/m{\cdot}K$ at $1,600^{\circ}C$.

  • $La(NO_3)_3{\cdot}xH_2O$, $Sr(NO_3)_2$, $Co(NO_3)_2{\cdot}6H_2O$, $Fe(NO_3)_3{\cdot}9H_2O$를 출발물질로 하고 La와 Sr의 몰비를 변화시켜 perovskite형 산화물인 $La_{1-x}Sr_xCo_{1-y}Fe_yO_{3-{\delta}}$ 졸을 제조하였다. 또한, 여러 조건에서 합성된 졸의 특성을 확인하기 위해 viscometer, FT-IR, TG-DTA, XRD 등을 사용하여 분석을 행하였다. 제조된 perovskite형 산화물 졸은 1.16 cp의 평균점도를 나타내었으며 조성에 관계없이 pH 0.5 정도의 강산성을 나타내었다. 용액 중의 La 함량이 많아질수록 동일 부피에서의 용액의 점도가 낮았고, 점도가 급격하게 증가하는 겔화시간이 증가하였다.

반응성 스퍼터링으로 제작된 SixOy-SixNy 적층구조의 반사방지 코팅 응용 (Anti-Reflection Coating Application of SixOy-SixNy Stacked-Layer Fabricated by Reactive Sputtering)

  • 본 논문에서는 반응성 스퍼터링(Reactive Sputtering) 공정으로 $Si_xO_y$ 박막과 $Si_xN_y$ 박막을 4층 구조로 적층하고 400~700 [nm]의 가시광 영역에서 빛의 반사를 줄이기 위한 반사방지 코팅(Anti-Reflection Coating)으로의 응용 가능성을 조사하였다. 스퍼터링 타겟으로 6 [inch] 직경의 Si 단결정을 사용하였고, 반응성 스퍼터링 가스는 $Si_xO_y$ 박막 증착에서 Ar과 $O_2$를, $Si_xN_y$ 박막 증착에서는 Ar과 $N_2$를 사용하였으며, 스퍼터링 파워로는 DC pulse를 사용하였다. 1,900 [W] DC pulse power에서 Ar:$O_2$=70:13 [sccm]의 반응성 스퍼터링으로 2.3 [nm/sec]의 증착률과 1.50의 굴절률을 보이는 $Si_xO_y$ 박막을 제작하였고, Ar:$N_2$=70:15 [sccm]의 반응성 스퍼터링으로 1.8 [nm/sec]의 증착률과 1.94의 굴절률을 보이는 $Si_xN_y$ 박막을 제작하였다. 이 두 종류의 박막을 이용해서 시뮬레이션을 통해 4층 구조의 반사방지 코팅 구조를 설계한 후, 설계결과에 따라 각 박막의 두께를 순차적으로 변화시켜 증착하였다. 4층 구조 $Si_xO_y-Si_xN_y$의 반사도 측정 결과 550 [nm] 대역에서 1.7 [%]의 반사와 400 [nm]와 650 [nm] 영역에서 1 [%]의 반사를 보였으며, 가시광 영역에서 성공적인 "W" 형태의 반사방지 코팅 특성을 보였다.

Study of molecular motion by 1H NMR relaxation in ferroelectric LiH3(SeO3)2, Li2SO4·H2O, and LiN2H5SO4 single crystals

  • The proton NMR line widths and spin-lattice relaxation rates, $T_1^{-1}$, of ferroelectric $LiH_3(SeO_3)_2$, $Li_2SO_4{\cdot}H_2O$, and $LiN_2H_5SO_4$ single crystals were measured as a function of temperature. The line width measurements reveal rigid lattice behavior of all the crystals at low temperatures and line narrowing due to molecular motion at higher temperatures. The temperature dependences of the proton $T_1^{-1}$ for these crystals exhibit maxima, which are attributed to the effects of molecular motion by the Bloembergen - Purcell - Pound theory. The activation energies for the molecular motions of $^1H$ in these crystals were obtained. From these analysis, $^1H$ in $LiH_3(SeO_3)_2$ undergoes molecular motion more easily than $^1H$ in $LiN_2H_5SO_4$ and $Li_2SO_4{\cdot}H_2O$ crystals.

Preparation of Porous Mullite-Corundum Ceramics Via Organic Foam Impregnation

  • Porous mullite-corundum ceramics were prepared using organic foam impregnation method with alumina and silica as raw materials. The influence of alkaline treatment and surfactant modification on polyurethane foam were studied. Effects of sintering process and material composition on porous mullite-corundum ceramics were investigated. The results show that the hang-pulp quantity of polyurethane foam increases with alkaline treatment. After treatment with 3 wt% SDS solution, the hang-pulp quantity of polyurethane foam further improved. Open porosity of sample decreased with elevation of sintering temperature and holding time, and compressive strength of sample showed a trend opposite to the change of porosity. The open porosity of the sample was enhanced by the increase of m(Al2O3/SiO2); the compressive strength decreased with increase of m(Al2O3/SiO2). However, when m(Al2O3/SiO2) was 2.5, the compressive strength of the sample reached 6.23 MPa, and the open porosity of the sample was 80.7 %.
