Since the rock fragmentation by blasting can affect the subsequent processes including loading, hauling and secondary crushing, its control is essential for the assessment of blasting efficiency as well as production cost. In this study, we were analyzed the rock fragmentation by the direction of artificial joint. The underground blasting experiments were performed after forming the vertical and horizontal artificial joints. The blast fragmentation was conducted by the split-desktop which is a 2D image processing program. As a result, it was found that the horizontal artificial joint was evaluated to have lower overall the size of muck pile than the vertical artificial joint and the distribution of the size of muck pile was varied. It is possible that the direction of artificial joint could suppress the occur of oversize muck pile and control to a certain size or less.
Background: Artificial light at night has recently been identified as a major factor adversely affecting global insect diversity. Here, we compared the insect diversity in Gwangneung Forest Biosphere Reserve, specifically in the Korea National Arboretum (with no artificial light at night), with that of three nearby urban sites with a gradient of artificial light at night (five locations at each site). We analyzed the effects of the artificial night lighting index, mean annual temperature, and field light intensity (lux) at night on the insect community structure. Results: The urban sites generally exhibited higher species richness and abundance as well as clear indicator species compared with the control site. The size distribution of the collected insects markedly differed between the control and the three urban sites. The abundance of herbivorous and omnivorous insects increased and decreased, respectively, with the increase in light intensity. Species richness of herbivorous and omnivorous insects was likely correlated with the field light intensity at night and artificial night lighting index, respectively. Conclusions: This study demonstrates the association between nighttime environment and marked changes in insect community structure and revealed consequent transition of ecosystem services by changes in trophic group composition.

New optical transmission links technique for compensating of the distorted wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) signals due to group velocity dispersion (GVD) and self phase modulation (SPM) in single mode fiber (SMF) are proposed. The proposed optical links have optical phase conjugator (OPC) placed at nearby WDM transmitter or receiver and repeater spans with artificial distribution of SMF length and residual dispersion per span (RDPS). It is confirmed that optimal link configuration expanding effective launching power range and effective net residual dispersion (NRD) by improving system performance is that having OPC closely placed at WDM receiver and the gradually descended distribution of SMF length and RDPS of each repeater spans, related with the gradually increased optical link length. And, it is also confirmed that NRD is controlled by postcompensation in optimal optical link with OPC closely placed at WDM receiver.

The optimal distribution pattern is induced in the optical link with an artificial distributions of single mode fiber (SMF) lengths and residual dispersion per span (RDPS). It is confirmed that the descending distribution of SMF length and ascending distribution of RDPS are most suitable to compensate for the distorted WDM signals, as the fiber span number is more increased. in the optical link with 10 ps/nm or -10 ps/nm the optimal net residual dispersion (NRD).
To effectively monitor the variety of distributions of neutron flux, fuel power or temperatures in the reactor core, usually the ex-core and in-core neutron detectors are employed. The thermocouples for temperature measurement are installed in the coolant inlet or outlet of the respective fuel assemblies. It is necessary to reconstruct the measurement information of the whole reactor position. However, the reading of different types of detector in the core reflects different aspects of the 3D power distribution. The feasibility of reconstruction the core three-dimension power distribution by using different combinations of in-core, ex-core and thermocouples detectors is analyzed in this paper to synthesize the useful information of various detectors. A comparison of multilayer perceptron (MLP) network and radial basis function (RBF) network is performed. RBF results are more extreme precision but also more sensitivity to detector failure and uncertainty, compare to MLP networks. This is because that localized neural network could offer conservative regression in RBF. Adding random disturbance in training dataset is helpful to reduce the influence of detector failure and uncertainty. Some convolution neural networks seem to be helpful to get more accurate results by use more spatial layout information, though relative researches are still under way.

As a method to understand the ecological habits around the artificial reef, various reports such as fishing gear survey, diving, sound survey, underwater CCTV and camera, etc. are reported. Among them, the sound survey method is carried out by installing an acoustic system on the ship and can be investigated regardless of the marine environment such as time constraints and turbidity. Such method, however, takes a lot of manpower and time as the ship travels at a constant speed. Investigations around artificial reefs are being conducted in an artificial way, and a lot of time and labor are consumed as such. Maritime buoys have been operated for various purposes such as route signs, weather observation, marine environment monitoring and defense monitoring for navigation safety in the past, but studies on monitoring systems for ecological habits and distribution of fish using marine buoys are remarkably insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to develop a system that allows users to directly monitor fish group detector data by estimating the distribution of fish groups around artificial reefs and using wireless communication at sea. In order to confirm the suitability of the maritime buoy used in this study, it was operated to compare data using LTE-equipped buoys capable of wireless communication and a data logger-type system buoy. Data transmission of buoys capable of LTE communication was carried out in a 10-minute ON, 10-minute OFF method due to the limitation of the power supply capacity, and data of the data logger-type buoy received full data. We compared and analyzed the data received from the two fish detectors. It is expected that real-time monitoring of the wireless buoy detection device using LTE will be possible through future research.

The Classification of defected oil-seals using a vision system with the artificial neural network is presented. The artificial neural network fur classification consists of 27 input nodes, 10 hidden nodes, and one output node. The selection of the number of the input nodes is based on an observation that the difference among the defected, non-defected, and smeared oil-seals is greatly pronounced in the 26 step gray-scale level thresholding. The number of the hidden nodes is chosen as a result of a trade-off between accuracy and computing time. The back-propagation algorithm is used for teaching the network. The proposed network is capable of successfully classifying the defected from the smeared oil-seals which tend to be classified as the defected ones using the binary thresholding. It is envisaged that the proposed method improves the reliability and productivity of the automotive vision inspection system.

This study purposes to increase the energy-saving effects by reducing excessive intensity of radiation of artificial lighting through analyzing daylight incident A photosensor sends amounts of detected luminous flux to digital control unit(DCU) as a signal and then, it can decide dimming ratios, received a proper dimming signal from DCU. Generally it Is effective to control artificial lighting with the different control ratio of each row by setting a photosensor as same numbers and rows as artificial lighting. However, it is ineffective to do in initial costs of systems aspect in offices. As a result of grasping the distribution of daylight previously, we can dim different dimming ratios to each row of artificial lighting by a single photosensor.

This paper indicate that phase resolved partial discharge patterns are investigated on PET films containing artificial void of varing dimensions. In this study, we measured phase-resolved PD patterns and statistical parameter from PET specimens with IGT(insulation/airgap/insulation) structure by IEC 270 standard. Measurement system is the conventional PD detector using digital signal processing technique. The relationship of diameter and location of artificial void was discussed through the difference of $\pi$-q-n distribution and statistical analysis.
