  • This study focuses on the adoption of Healthcare Information System (HIS) in India's healthcare services, which has led to an increased use of HIS software for managing patient information in hospitals. The study aims to evaluate the factors that influence hospital workers' satisfaction with HIS usage and its impact on their intention to continue in the use of HIS. Primary data was collected through a survey questionnaire from 265 hospital workers. A new framework was developed, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used for analysis. Sensitivity analysis was also conducted on demographic data using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) approach. The results indicated that all hypotheses were significant (p < 0.05). Effort expectancy was the most significant factor influencing hospital workers' satisfaction (p < 0.01). Sensitivity analysis showed that education (Model-A) and experience in use of HIS (Model-B) were the most important factors. The study contributes by proposing a new theoretical framework and extending the previous research on HIS usage satisfaction. Overall, the study highlights the importance of easiness and usefulness in predicting HIS usage satisfaction.

  • The need for advanced high strength steel (AHSS) forming technology is increasing as interest in light weight and safe automobiles increases. Multipoint dieless forming (MDF) is a novel sheet metal forming technology that can create any desired longitudinal and transverse curvature in sheet metal. However, since the springback phenomenon becomes larger with high strength metal such as AHSS, predicting the required MDF to produce the exact desired curvature in two directions is more difficult. In this study, a prediction model using artificial neural network (ANN) was developed to predict the springback that occurs during AHSS forming through MDF. In order to verify the validity of model, a fit test was performed and the results were compared with the conventional regression model. The data required for training was obtained through simulation, then further random sample data was created to verify the prediction performance. The predicted results were compared with the simulation results. As a result of this comparison, it was found that the prediction of our ANN based model was more accurate than regression analysis. If a sufficient amount of data is used in training, the ANN model can play a major role in reducing the forming cost of high-strength steels.

  • Optimal mount position of a front pillar trim considering heat resistant characteristics can be determined by two methods. One is conventional approximate optimization method which uses the statistical design of experiments (DOE) and response surface method (RSM). Generally, approximated optimum results are obtained through the iterative process by a trial and error. The quality of results depends seriously on the factors and levels assigned by a designer. The other is a methodology derived from previous work by the authors, which is called sequential design of experiments (SDOE), to reduce a trial and error procedure and to find an appropriate condition for using artificial neural network (ANN) systematically. An appropriate condition is determined from the iterative process based on the analysis of means. With this new technique and ANN, it is possible to find an optimum design accurately and efficiently.

  • This study investigated and predicted the Marshall stability of glass-fiber asphalt mix, carbon-fiber asphalt mix and glass-carbon-fiber asphalt (hybrid) mix by using machine learning techniques such as Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Random Forest(RF), The data was obtained from the experiments and the research articles. Assessment of results indicated that performance of the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based model outperformed applied models in training and testing datasets with values of indices as; coefficient of correlation (CC) 0.8492 and 0.8234, mean absolute error (MAE) 2.0999 and 2.5408, root mean squared error (RMSE) 2.8541 and 3.3165, relative absolute error (RAE) 48.16% and 54.05%, relative squared error (RRSE) 53.14% and 57.39%, Willmott's index (WI) 0.7490 and 0.7011, Scattering index (SI) 0.4134 and 0.3702 and BIAS 0.3020 and 0.4300 for both training and testing stages respectively. The Taylor diagram also confirms that the ANN-based model outperforms the other models. Results of sensitivity analysis show that Carbon fiber has a major influence in predicting the Marshall stability. However, the carbon fiber (CF) followed by glass-carbon fiber (50GF:50CF) and the optimal combination CF + (50GF:50CF) are found to be most sensitive in predicting the Marshall stability of fibrous asphalt concrete.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a model for selecting the best contractor in the Gaza Strip using the Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The contractor's selection methods and criteria were identified using a field survey. Fifty four engineers were asked to fill a questionnaire that covers factors related to the selection criteria of contractors practiced in Gaza Strip. The results shows that the dominant part of respondents (91%) confirmed that the current awarding method "the lowest bid price" is considered one of the major problems of the construction sector, "award the bid to the highest weight after combination of the technical and financial scores" represented 50% of the respondents. The criteria weights were determined based on Relative Importance Index (RII. Ninety-one tenders(13 projects) were used to train and test the ANN model after re-evaluating the contractors depend on the weights of factors to select the best contractor who achieves the highest score. Neurosolution software was used to train the models. The results of the trained models indicated that neural network reasonably succeeded in selection the best contractor with 95.96% accuracy. The performed sensitivity analysis showed that the profitability and capital of company are the most influential parameters in selection contractors. This model gives chance to the owner to be more accurate in selecting the most appropriate contractor.

  • Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is a computational model inspired by the structure and operations of the brain. It is massively parallel system consisting of a large number of highly interconnected and simple processing units. The purpose of this paper is to verify the applicability of ANN to predict experimental results through the use of measured experimental data. Although there have been accumulated data based on hysteretic characteristics of structural element with cyclic loading tests, it is difficult to directly apply them for the analysis of elastic and plastic response. Thus, simple models with mathematical formula such as Bi-Linear Model, Ramberg-Osgood Model, Degrading Tri Model, Takeda Model, Slip type Model, and etc, have been used. To verify the practicality and capability of this study, ANN is adapted to several models with mathematical formula using numerical data To show the efficiency of ANN in nonlinear analysis, it is important to determine the adequate input and output variables of hysteretic models and to minimize an error in ANN process. The application example is Beam-Column joint test using the ANN in modeling of the linear and nonlinear hysteretic behavior of structure.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to predict missing absolute out-of-plane displacements and failure limits of infill walls by artificial neural network (ANN) models. For this purpose, two shake table experiments are performed. These experiments are conducted on a 1:1 scale one-bay one-story reinforced concrete frame (RCF) with an infill wall. One of the experimental models is composed of unreinforced brick model (URB) enclosures with an RCF and other is composed of an infill wall with bed joint reinforcement (BJR) enclosures with an RCF. An artificial earthquake load is applied with four acceleration levels to the URB model and with five acceleration levels to the BJR model. After a certain acceleration level, the accelerometers are detached from the wall to prevent damage to them. The removal of these instruments results in missing data. The missing absolute maximum out-of-plane displacements are predicted with ANN models. Failure of the infill wall in the out-of-plane direction is also predicted at the 0.79 g acceleration level. An accuracy of 99% is obtained for the available data. In addition, a benchmark analysis with multiple regression is performed. This study validates that the ANN-based procedure estimates missing experimental data more accurately than multiple regression models.

  • Artificial neural networks (ANNs) play an important role in the fields of function approximation, prediction, and classification. ANN performance is critically dependent on the input parameters, including the number of neurons in each layer, and the optimal values of weights and biases assigned to each neuron. In this study, we apply the particle swarm optimization method, a popular optimization algorithm for determining the optimal values of weights and biases for every neuron in different layers of the ANN. Several regression models, including general linear regression, Fourier regression, smoothing spline, and polynomial regression, are conducted to evaluate the proposed method's prediction power compared to multiple linear regression (MLR) methods. In addition, residual analysis is conducted to evaluate the optimized ANN accuracy for both training and test datasets. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively determine optimal values for neuron weights and biases, and high accuracy results are obtained for prediction applications. Evaluations of the proposed method reveal that it can be used for prediction and estimation purposes, with a high accuracy ratio, and the designed model provides a reliable technique for optimization. The simulation results show that the optimized ANN exhibits superior performance to MLR for prediction purposes.

  • Analysis of runoff is substantial for effective water management in the watershed. Runoff occurs by reaction of a watershed to the rainfall and has non-linearity and uncertainty due to the complex relation of weather and watershed factors. ANN (Artificial Neural Network), which learns from the data, is one of the machine learning technique known as a proper model to interpret non-linear data. The performance of ANN is affected by the ANN's structure, the number of hidden layer nodes, learning rate, and activation function. Especially, the activation function has a role to deliver the information entered and decides the way of making output. Therefore, It is important to apply appropriate activation functions according to the problem to solve. In this paper, ANN models were constructed to estimate runoff with different activation functions and each model was compared and evaluated. Sigmoid, Hyperbolic tangent, ReLU (Rectified Linear Unit), ELU (Exponential Linear Unit) functions were applied to the hidden layer, and Identity, ReLU, Softplus functions applied to the output layer. The statistical parameters including coefficient of determination, NSE (Nash and Sutcliffe Efficiency), NSEln (modified NSE), and PBIAS (Percent BIAS) were utilized to evaluate the ANN models. From the result, applications of Hyperbolic tangent function and ELU function to the hidden layer and Identity function to the output layer show competent performance rather than other functions which demonstrated the function selection in the ANN structure can affect the performance of ANN.

  • This paper presents the prediction and evaluation of landslide using LRA(logistic regression analysis) and ANN (Artificial Neural Network) methods. In order to assess the landslide, we selected Sarabong, Byeoldobong area and Mt. Song-ak in Jeju Island. Five factors which affect the landslide were selected as: slope angle, elevation, porosity, dry density, permeability. So as to predict and evaluate the landslide, firstly the weight value of each factor was analyzed by LRA(logistic regression analysis) and ANN(Artificial Neural Network) methods. Then we got two prediction maps using AcrView software through GIS(Geographic Information System) method. The comparative analysis reveals that the slope angle and porosity play important roles in landslide. Prediction map generated by LRA method is more accurate than ANN method in Jeju. From the prediction map, we found that the most dangerous area is distributed around the road and path.
