  • This study aimed to guide the practice of group art therapy among Korean college students through a systematic review. Therefore, 164 studies relevant to group art therapy for Korean undergraduate students published in Korea from January 2001 to June 2021 were selected. This systematic review included 46 publications based on the PICO standards. The author systematically reviewed the included studies, summarized the characteristics and therapy effectiveness, and analyzed the overall research trends. The primary findings were as follows: First, the number of publications on group art therapy among Korean college students has significantly increased. According to a review of group art therapy characteristics, the majority of studies enrolled 6-10 participants (32 studies, 66.7%), applied 6-10 sessions (23 studies, 47.9%), and had an intervention time for each session of 90 minutes (25 studies, 53.2%). Second, research outcomes of group art therapy among Korean college students were grouped into self-related, society-related, emotion-related, and career-related outcomes. Regarding career-related outcomes, all studies found that group art therapy had a statistically significant impact on career-related outcomes, particularly on the levels of career decision-making and maturity. Most studies suggested that group art therapy had a positive effect on self-related, society-related, and emotion-related outcomes, with 6 studies finding no statistically significant effect of group art therapy on college students. Third, the most effective intervention for college students was the media-based group art therapy. In particular, college students had the most effective performance in career-related outcomes. This study is significant in that it uses a systematic review to integrate and summarize research results on group art therapy among college students over the last 20 years. This study revealed that group art therapy could positively and effectively affect Korean college students. Based on this systematic review, we expect to practice and develop group art therapy in Chinese college students with comprehensive guidance and convincing data.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the vivid realities of important technical and relational aspects of visual art that were emphasised during training by art therapy supervisors and educators. Max van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenological methodology was incorporated into the study. Summarising their main experiences, art therapy supervisors enabled experiences of reproducibility and immediacy in their supervision, and allowed visual art to be used as a tool to foster inner contact with their supervisees. To enable this experience, art therapy supervisors provided a creative foundation and a receptive environment that promoted creativity for supervisees to use and experience art beyond the role of passive viewers. The results of this research clarified how the participating supervisors interpreted the value of art therapy as a method to nurture the professional growth of trainees. Their contributions suggest experiences and methods that may effectuate future advancements in the field of art therapy supervision.

  • Nowadays, the issues of comprehensive formation of a person capable of self-education, self-development and creative self-realization in the conditions of distance education are relevant. There is a need to solve this problem, which is due to social, cultural, and pedagogical factors. This makes it necessary to find effective means of personality formation. In this matter, great importance is attached to the modern method of forming a creative personality - art therapy. Various approaches to the definition of art therapy have been clarified. They consider various forms of art therapy when working with children, adolescents and adults in the context of distance education. The most relevant are the two main forms of work - individual and group art therapy. Art therapy develops the individual's creativity. Therefore, during art therapy, attention is focused on the inner world, experiences, and feelings. Therefore, we believe that in the context of distance education, art therapy has everything for the powerful potential of personality formation. Scientists consider this therapy as therapy by means of art, which is based on experiences, conflicts that can be expressed in the visual arts and music. Art therapy helps to get rid of conflicts and experiences. This happens in the context of distance education through the development of attention to feelings, strengthening one's own personal value and increasing artistic competence. The article describes the signs that characterize art therapy. Art-therapeutic technologies in the context of distance education, which are now actively used by psychologists, teachers and art therapists themselves, are highlighted. • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of art therapy to control fatigue in cancer patients during course of radiotherapy and its impact on quality of life (QoL). Materials and Methods: Fifty cancer patients receiving radiotherapy received weekly art therapy sessions using famous painting appreciation. Fatigue and QoL were assessed using the Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI) Scale and the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-F) at baseline before starting radiotherapy, every week for 4 weeks during radiotherapy, and at the end of radiotherapy. Mean changes of scores over time were analyzed using a generalized linear mixed model. Results: Of the 50 patients, 34 (68%) participated in 4 sessions of art therapy. Generalized linear mixed models testing for the effect of time on mean score changes showed no significant changes in scores from baseline for the BFI and FACIT-F. The mean BFI score and FACIT-F total score changed from 3.1 to 2.7 and from 110.7 to 109.2, respectively. Art therapy based on the appreciation of famous paintings led to increases in self-esteem by increasing self-realization and forming social relationships. Conclusion: Fatigue and QoL in cancer patients with art therapy do not deteriorate during a period of radiotherapy. Despite the single-arm small number of participants and pilot design, this study provides a strong initial demonstration that art therapy of appreciation for famous painting is worthy of further study for fatigue and QoL improvement. Further, it can play an important role in routine practice in cancer patients during radiotherapy.
