  • This paper deals with the legal meaning and issues of street performances. The key elements in the legal sense of street performances (or artistic performances) are 'public places' and 'artistic activities'. Therefore, as far as belongs to "artistic activities in public places", we can call them in principle as street performances regardless of its level of art, whether they are paid or not, size of performances or genre of artistic activities. Street performances are a way for anyone to freely participate and enjoy art by being performed on open places. In addition, street performances can be seen as more popular and democratic artistic acts than mainstream art culture in that anyone can become street performers. Although street performances are in vogue and becoming a universal cultural phenomenon, they do not appear to be legally organized yet. However, we don't have to strictly regulate street performances on the grounds that they are something different and special. Instead, they should let their street performances be freely performed and enjoyed in accordance with the constitutional law that guarantees the freedom of art or the freedom of artistic expression. Of course, it is necessary to modify the relevant laws on key issues raised regarding street performances. Finally, for street performances to be well established as cultural phenomenon, it should be harmonized that efforts to observe the law and orders by street performers, mature rituals and cultural tolerances of citizens who enjoy street performances, and efforts to realize the purpose of cultural countries and to promote street performances by governments.

  • The purpose of this study was examine the effects of STEAM(Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-mathematics) activities on young children's scientific process skill ability and problem solving ability. Subjects were 34 five-year-old young children from S and H child care centers located in G city. Subjects were divided into an experimental(n=17) and a control group(n=17). The experimental group took part in the STEAM activities during 8 weeks, while the control group took part in the traditional science activities. The procedure for this study consisted of a pre-study, a pre-test, the treatment, and a post-test schedule. The results of this study were as follows: First, the experimental group showed significantly higher score than the control group in total scientific process skill ability. Second, the experimental group showed significantly higher score than the control group in total problem solving ability. These findings suggest that the experience of STEAM activities for young children can be effective teaching-learning methods for young children's scientific process skill ability and problem solving ability.

After Russian Revolution, the artists like Nadeshda Lamanowa, Ljubow Popowa and Warwara Stepanova decided to devote to practical art area for many People. It's very meaningful for them to jump into real work places like a textile mill and a clothing workshop instead of staying in fine art area. Constructivism is more related to social interest rather than individual thing. The artists tried to apply their modeling principles in fine art to dress making. We can see the geometrical lines and shapes and big differences In colors and material in their dress. The artists had also shown personal tastes to dress works. This idea of togetherness with their time and even to create the style of it. was very renovative at that time and gave an influence on the later styles.

  • The aim of this thesis is to investigate exhibition spaces which are being expanded and transformed concurrently with social phenomena that are also the result of rapid changes, all of which are reflective of a modern society in transition. Such investigation would also include an analysis of changes in the viewing public and artworks themselves, and also an assessment of the public nature of art and its effective aspects. Expansion of exhibition spaces and the increasing connection between art and the public have very important ramifications, in many respects. They present opportunities for the viewing public to immerse themselves in artistic spaces, with some reaching further into other activities - activities that they often share with other individuals. This also leads them to expand their range of activities, turning them into more mobile, proactive audiences. In connection, many corporations have turned their attention to this public aspect of art, which has resulted in a display of art in different types of spaces. The government also began to adopt 'public art' as a matter of policy, using it as a medium of communication between the state and its populace. The public aspect of art, being highlighted as a result of expansion and diversification of exhibition spaces, will have a significant impact not only on the viewing public, but also on the art market. This represents a momentous change for creators of art, which naturally warrants close scrutiny and research.

  • Methods for effective musical score recognition and efficient editing of musical scores are demanded because functions of computers for researches on musical activities become more and more important parts in recent days. In the conventional methods for handling musical scores manually, there are weak points such as incorrect score symbols in input process and requirement of much time to adjust the incorrect symbols. And also there is another weak point that the scores edited by each application program can be remodified by a specific application program only. In this paper, we proposed a method for automatic musical score recognition of printed musical scores in order to make up for the weak points. In the proposed method, staffs in a scanned score image are eliminated by horizontal histogram, noises are removed by 4 directional edge tracking algorithm, and then musical score symbols are extracted by using Grassfire algorithm. The extracted symbols are recognized by hierarchical ART2 algorithm. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we used 100 musical scores for experiment. In the experiment, we verified that the proposed method using hierarchical ART2 algorithm is efficient.

From the end of 19th century, space which was begun to be studied about in architects has continued to be researched by not only scientists but artists. Recently, space Is expressed in free and new forms due to diversity of societies and advancement of technology, As a result, space has become an essential part in art and is used in the titles of many art exhibitions. This study scrutinizes space in Isamu Noguchi's works. No other 20th century artist has as clear and progressive space conception as Noguchi's. His notion of modern art was modified through space in the tradition of cubism and Russian Constructivism and Bauhaus. Combined with his experience in the traditional Japanese houses and gardens, these influences led toward a broadened conception of sculpture as the creation of living space. These modernist's characteristics are found in his early expression of stage sets for choreographer Martha Graham, and they would lead to a wide range of design activities, from gardens and interiors to fountains and furniture. Isamu Noguchi had created a body of work that crossed the boundary between fine and applied art as a sculptor, and as an environmental designer.
