In this paper, it is described about the tri-band mobile antenna system design to provide broadband multimedia and direct broadcasting services using goo-stationary Koreasat 3, simultaneously operated in Ka/K/Ku band. The radiating part of the antenna system with a fan beam characteristic in the elevation plane is composed of the quasi-offset dual shaped reflector and the tri-band feeder. The tri-band feeder is also composed of the Ka/K dual band feeder with the protruding dielectric rod, the circular polarizer, the ortho-mode transducer and the circular-polarized Ku band feed array. Especially, the Ka/K dual band circular polarizer was realized firstly using the comb-type structure. For fast satellite-tracking on the movement, the Ku band feed array has the structure of the $2{\times}2$ active phased array which can make electrical beams. And, the circular-polarized characteristic in the feed array was improved by $90^{\circ}$ rotating arrangement of four radiating elements polarized circularly by a $90^{\circ}$ hybrid coupler, respectively. Four beam forming channels to make electrical beams at Ku band are divided into the main beam channel and the tracking beam channel in the output, and noise temperature characteristics of each channel were analyzed on the basis of the contributions of internal sub_units. From the fabricated antenna system, the output power at $P_{1dBc}$ of Ka_Tx channel was measured more than 34.1 dBm and the measured noise figures of K/Ku_Rx channels were less than 2.4 dB and 1.5 dB, respectively, over the operating band. The radiation patterns with co- and cross-polarization in the tri-band were measured using a near-field measurement in the anechoic chamber. Especially, Ku radiation patterns were measured after correcting each initial phase of active channels with partial radiation patterns obtained from the independent excitation of each channel. The antenna gains measured in Ka/K/Ku band of the antenna system were more than 39.6 dBi, 37.5 dBi, 29.6 dBi, respectively. And, the antenna system showed good system performances such as Ka_Tx EIRP more than 43.7 dBW and K/Ku_Rx G/T more than 13.2 dB/K and 7.12 dB/K, respectively.

In this paper, we described about methods and results to verify the Tx/Rx beam characteristics of a planar active phased array antenna as using a near-field measurement. The near-field system can effectively measure multiple beams and predict the performance degradation due to the partial failure of individual elements. Also, it can accurately predict the EIRP relating to detection performance of the active phased array radar. We briefly described the near-field measurement method to verify the Tx/Rx beam characteristics, and then verified the effectiveness of measurement method by analyzing the measured results.

Many short range weather radars with the low elevation search capability are needed for analysis and prediction of unusual weather changes or rainfall phenomena which occurs regionally. However, due to the characteristics of low elevation electromagnetic wave beam, it is highly probable that the received weather signals of these radars are contaminated by the ground and sea clutter. Since most of ground clutter appears around the very narrow low Doppler frequency region, it is somewhat easy to separate. However, the sea clutter removal is very difficult since it can occupy the broad Doppler frequency region according to weather conditions. Therefore, in this paper, the sea clutter removal capability is analyzed for a phased array weather radar which use vertical array elements for electronic elevation beam steering. Also, it is shown that the sea clutter removal can be achieved appropriately using the receiver beam forming technology in a phased array antenna.

Wireless Power Transfer(WPT) of array antenna applied to beam-forming techniques enables highly efficient WPT when transmitters and receivers are not contacting and even when they are separated. However, this WPT method is possible to use only when human safety restriction by distance between the transmitters and the receivers is satisfied. In the paper, a $4{\times}8$ array antenna for 2.4 GHz is modeled by simulation, then electric field intensity and 10 gram average head SAR(Specific Absorption Rate) by distance away from the array antenna inputted 1 W of 2.4 GHz sinusoidal wave at each single antenna of the array antenna for 2.4 GHz were obtained. And they were compared with human safety restriction of draft of 2018 ICNIRP(International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) guidelines. As the result, power density of far field derived from the electric field intensity was $33.257W/m^2$, which satisfied with occupational human safety restriction but exceeded public's. In addition, the 10 gram average head SAR exceeded the human safety restriction.

GPS (global positioning system) is a popular system that provides location information by measuring arrival time difference at the receiver between several GPS satellite signals. GPS is widely used in commercial area as well as military systems. Reliable GPS signal reception is more important in the military applications such as guided missiles. However, since the carrier frequencies of the GPS signals are well known and the received power is extremely low, the GPS systems are vulnerable to intentional jamming attacks. To remove jammers while maintaining GPS signals at the received signals, a popular technique is an adaptive beam steering method based on array antenna. Among adaptive beam steering techniques, this paper considers MVDR (minimum variance distortionless response) algorithm, and proposes a new adaptive technique that preserves the received signals at desired directions, but removes the unknown jamming signals adaptively. The performance of the proposed method is verified through computer simulation.

This paper deals with the estimation performance DoA (Direction of Arrival) using the 3D adaptive array antenna in W-CDMA signal. For this, we proposed the 5 types of 3D array antenna, and appied for the MUSIC in order to the estimation of DoA algorithm for that antenna, commonly, then the DoA estimation error was used for the estimation performance. In the mobile communication and radio positioning service, performing the spatial filtering after the DoA estimation in array antenna, the quality of receiving signal can improve by the nulling or minimization of interfering signal which is from the undesired direction and the forming of beam which is from the desired direction. The result of DoA estimation and the DoA estimation error by varying the signal to noise ration and the number of interfering signal and power of each type antenna was calculated by computer simulation. As a result of simulation, the other propose antenna has good performance excluding the stack 3D antenna in DoA estimation and the Curved-B type antenna has more superior performance when increasing the number of interfering signal and power in the DoA estimation error.

This paper presents a basic characteristics of 4-element circular array dipole antennas for 4-sector beam steering. The coupled integral equations for the unknown current distributions on dipole elements are derived and solved by applying Galerkin's method of moments. The parasitic elements have been used to increase the directional gain and the beam is steered electronically either by sswitching between the parasitic elements or switching the position of the active element. The parasitic elements are switched short-circuited or open-circuited as required to steer a directional beam. In order to verify the theoretical analysis, the radiation pattern was compared with experiments.

The effectiveness of the phased array antenna in wireless power transfer systems is due to its ability to form a beam pattern towards the desired direction. To maximize the efficiency of wireless power transfer through beamforming, the transmitter must recognize the information on the optimal transmission path. To achieve this, the transmitter usually transmits pilot signals periodically and the receiver extracts the optimal beamforming weights using the pilot signals. The receiver then feeds the beamforming weights back to the transmitter. In general, the amount of feedback increases with the number of antennas, which causes feedback overhead when there is a large number of antennas. In this paper, we propose a feedback simplification scheme based on the far-field approximation method. The simulation results are provided to validate the impact of the simplified feedback on the beam pattern.

The signal intelligence (SIGINT) technology is actively used for collecting various data, in a number of fields, including a military industry. In order to collect the signal information and data and to transmit/receive the collected data efficiently, the accurate angle-of-arrival (AOA) information is required and communication disturbance from the interference or jamming signal should be minimized. In this paper, we present the structure of an adaptive beam-forming satellite system based on the planar array antenna, for collecting and transmitting/receiving the signal information and data efficiently. The presented adaptive beam-forming system consists of an antenna in the form of a planar array, an AOA estimator based on the Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm, an adaptive Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) interference canceler, a signal processing and D/B unit, and a transmission beamformer based on Minimum mean Square Error (MMSE). In addition, through the computer simulation, we evaluate and analyze the performance of the proposed system.

Wireless channel exists interference by multipath a component. Adaptation array antenna that remove this interference a component forms null point about interference signal and maximizes gains about target signal. If target signal and correlative coherent interference signal are received, there is problem that is removed from arrangement output to target signal. And, adaptation array antenna is shortcoming that is sensitive in directivity error. Therefore, in this paper, introduce each existing algorithm to solve directivity error about coherent interference, and proposed beam forming technique that minimize degree of freedom loss and damage because analyzes the problem and reduces coherent interference and directivity error.
