  • The objective of this research was to study the optical illusion effect and the difference of image of textile pattern design. This research also tried to show the more useful method to make stimulus by computer simulation and to present quantitative data. For the experiment, 3 design variable were selected from design principal book as follows : size, arrangement and value harmony of motive. Size of motive variable was divided into 3 level so by use of check & dot pattern, arrangement of motive variable was manipulated to vias direction for check pattern and value harmony between motive & base color was classified into similar value harmony and contrasting value harmony. Visual stimuli which same model was wearing each design were created by ENVISION program. This photographs were given to evaluating panels, Then panels compared experiment design by slim effect and evaluated for 5-sementic differential scale expressing clothing image. The results were as follows : 1) There were significant difference is slim effect, clothing image as simplicity and boldness according to size of Motive. 2) Arrangement of motive for check pattern had significant effects on slim , clothing images as activity and attractiveness. 3) Case of low value base color and high value dot color has significant high score on slim effect, activity, attractiveness, boldness and youthful image.

  • We have used the secondary-step immobilization methods based on the chip pattern of hydrophobic self-assembly layers to assemble microfabricated particles onto the chip pattern. Immobilization of DNA, fabrication of the particles and the chip pattern, arrangement of the particles on the chip pattern, and recognition of each using DNA fluorescence measurement were carried out. Establishing the walls, the arrangement stability of the particles was improved. Each DNA is able to distinguish by using the lithography process on the particles. Advantages of this method are process simplicity, wide applicability and stability. It is thought that this method can be applicable as a new fabrication technology to develop a minute integration type biosensor microarray.

  • In the present study, we measured the performance (accuracy and reaction time) of the user in the virtual environment with see-through Head-Mounted Display system that includes 3D sound generated through Head-Related Transfer Function (HRTF) to investigate the feasibility of auditory display for a certain object's spatial information. To sum up the results of two experiments, when presenting location information of the object with 3D sound, it is desirable that information arrangement from the user should be an orthogonal pattern which is located with right angle, not a diagonal pattern. Like these results propose that spatial information presentation with 3D sound make the optimal object arrangement of virtual environment possible.

  • A parametric body model generation system has been developed. Using various mathematic and geometric algorithms of this system, a three-dimensionally scanned human body can be converted into a resizable body model. Once a parametric body model is formed, its size and shape can be modified instantaneously by providing appropriate anthropometric data. To facilitate the subsequent pattern arrangement process for garment drape simulation, a bounding box generation algorithm has been developed in this study. Also the model can be converted into a set of parametric surfaces that it can also be used for three-dimensional garment pattern design system.

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate used patterns in Hanbok and to find out a classification and a characteristic of motifs. The data made use of 111 pictures constituted Gegory(a Korean jacket) and Chima(a skirt) in photographs collected in wedding magazine(Wedding 21'). The data was analyzed by frequency, contents analysis. Pattern's use or not in Hanbok and a sort, a arrangement, a way of expression of patterns using frequency Classified and characteristics of motifs were analyzed contents analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, a sort of patterns was lots of flower motifs of the plant pattern. An arrangement of and expression of patterns used mainly a partial arrangement and embroidery expression. Second, the subjects classified using criterion of classification of a external feature, forms of expression, and simplicity/complexity of line. Third, the motifs classified into plants, an animal, geometry, abstraction, and a natural object. The plant motifs were perceived the focus of flower, a combination of a flower and a stem in the plant motifs. The subjects perceived as a simplicity/complexity of flower and a drawing line of a flower and a stem.

  • The purpose of this study is to categorize the typs of fabrics and to analyze weaving method and pattern design on the silk fabrics from Jang-Gi Jung s tomb. The conclusions of this research are as follows. 1) Among the 32 pieces of excavated clothes, 90% of them were made of silk fabric and 65% used patterned silk. I would assume, therefore, that the tomb was owned by a person of higher society who could afford the best clothes of the time. 2) The weaving methods of silk include tabby, twill damask with different direction (2/1 warp faced ground, 1/3$\cdot$1/4 weft faced pathern), self-patterned satin damask (4/1 warp faces ground, 1/4 weft faced pattern), and brocaded satin damask. 3) The arrangement of the motifs and the kinds of patterns on these silk fabric can be divided into two categories: first group is allover arrangement of peony or lotus and second group is the scattered arrangement of omen of luck. 4) Two pieces of fabric was stamped and the letters of the stamp make me to think about the possibility that the fabrics are from China. But to make this paint clear more relics of this kind should be excavated so that further research can be done.

  • The distributional pattern of the bast fibres strands or bundles in the stems of Sida species represented in Nigeria is studied. Three major patterns of arrangement are recognized, namely aggregation of fibre strands into units with wedge-shaped, or triangular, rectangular, rhomboidal, square and trapezoid outlines; serial arrangement of fibre strands into rings or circular, ovoid, semi-circular or crescentic rows; and intermediate pattern in which both fibre strands-aggregates and serial rows of strands patterns are combined. The first pattern is found in S. linifolia, S. urens and S. scabrida, the second in S. cordifolia, S. pilosa, S. ovata, S. rhombifolia and S. spinosa, and the third in S. garckeana, and S. acuta. A dichotomous key based on these features is presented. Dimensional characteristics of the bast fibre cells are also given.

  • Fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) structural shapes are readily available in civil engineering applications. Among many manufacturing techniques used for FRP structural shapes, pultrusion process is one of the most widely used techniques in civil engineering applications. Pultrusion is a manufacturing process for producing continuous lengths of reinforced polymeric plastic structural shapes with constant cross-section. Pultruded composites are attractive for structural applications because of their continuous mass production with excellent mechanical properties. This paper presents the results of investigations pertaining to the bolted connection with two bolts for the pultruded FRP (PFRP) structural members. PFRP bolted connection tests were conducted with end distance to bolt diameter ratio ($e_1/d_b$) and two types of bolt pattern such as horizontal (Pattern A) and vertical arrangement (Pattern B). As a result, it is found that the $e_1/d_b$ is recommended as the ratio of 4. In addition, it is also found that the bearing strengths at failure of the Pattern A and Pattern B have a similar value.

  • The DNA chips are devices associating the specific recognition properties of two DNA single strands through hybridization process with the performances of the microtechnology. In the literature, the "Gene chip" or "DNA chip" terminology is employed in a wide way and includes macroarrays and microarrays. Standard definitions are not yet clearly exposed. Generally, the difference between macro and microarray concerns the number of active areas and their size, Macroarrays correspond to devices containing some tens spots of 500$\mu$m or larger in diameter. microarrays concern devices containing thousnads spots of size less than 500$\mu$m. The key technical parameters for evaluating microarray-manufacturing technologies include microarray density and design, biochemical composition and versatility, repreducibility, throughput, quality, cost and ease of prototyping. Here we report, a new method in which minute particles are arranged in a random fashion on a chip pattern using random fluidic self-assembly (RFSA) method by hydrophobic interaction. We intend to improve the stability of the particles at the time of arrangement by establishing a wall on the chip pattern, besides distinction of an individual particle is enabled by giving a tag structure. This study demonstrates the fabrication of a chip pattern, immobilization of DNA to the particles and arrangement of the minute particle groups on the chip pattern by hydrophobic interaction.ophobic interaction.
