  • Regional evaluations of slope stability by the failure criterion and by environmental geological factors were conducted. The failure criterion is the general conditions for plane failure which consider the geometrical conditions between geological discontinuities and topographical slope planes. The factor focused in this condiction is dip and dip direction. Geostatics, named semivariogram was used for establishing structural domains in slope stability evaluation by the failure criterion. The influential range was calculated to 6 km in the case of dip direction of dominant joint set and 7 km in the case of dip of the same dominant joint set. Then applying this failure criterion to the study area produced a slope stability map using the established domains and slopes generated by TIN module of ARC/INFO GIS. This study considered another regional slope stability analysis. 5 failure-driven factors 9the unstable slope map, geology, engineering soil, groundwater, and lineament density) were selected and used as data coverages for regional slope stability evaluation by geoenvironmental factors. These factors were weighted and overlayed in GIS. From the graph of cumulatave area (%) and instability index, finding critical points classified the instability indices. The most unstable slopes are located in the southern area of Mt. Eorae, Dabul-ri, and the eastern area of Junkok-ri in the first area is plane failure. Also, the expected orientations of failure are 59/338 and 86/090 (dip/dip direction).

  • A power grid is one of the most complex networks and is critical infrastructure for society. To understand the characteristics of a power grid, complex network analysis has been used from the early 2000s mainly for US and European power grids. However, since the power grids of different countries might have different structures, the Korean power grid needs to be examined through complex network analysis. This paper performs the analysis for the Korean power grid, especially for high-voltage transmission networks. In addition, statistical and small-world characteristics for the Korean power grid are analyzed. Generally, the Korean power grid has similar characteristics to other power grids, but some characteristics differ because the Korean power grid is concentrated in the capital area.

  • The object of this study is to investigate the definite method for pitting damaged surfaces. Pitting is a sort of fatigue damages and it is made by a repetitive load. For a judgment between damages or not, sensing vibrations of test equipment is simple. However, it is not only difficult to observe a growth of pitting but also impossible to detect the juncture of initial pitting. Therefore, a method for the pitting damaged area measuring technique was effectively implemented by Two Roller Machine. The change of surface damaged area was measured by an optical microscope in regular time and calculated by the use of dark and bright ratio of test specimens' pictures taken by optical microscope. In conclusion, S - N Curves gained by Failure rate - Cycle graph was led and the curves are able to be chosen as occasion demands for a failure area percentage.

  • The objective of this paper is to apply Extended AND-OR Graph (EAOG)-related techniques to extract knowledge from a specific problem-domain and perform analysis in complicated decision making area. Expert systems use expertise about a specific domain as their primary source of solving problems belonging to that domain. However, such expertise is complicated as well as uncertain, because most knowledge is expressed in causal relationships between concepts or variables. Therefore, if expert systems can be used effectively to provide more intelligent support for decision making in complicated specific problems, it should be equipped with real-time inference mechanism. We develop two kinds of EAOG-driven inference mechanisms(1) EAOG-based forward chaining and (2) EAOG-based backward chaining. and The EAOG method processes the following three characteristics. 1. Real-time inference : The EAOG inference mechanism is suitable for the real-time inference because its computational mechanism is based on matrix computation. 2. Matrix operation : All the subjective knowledge is delineated in a matrix form, so that inference process can proceed based on the matrix operation which is computationally efficient. 3. Bi-directional inference : Traditional inference method of expert systems is based on either forward chaining or backward chaining which is mutually exclusive in terms of logical process and computational efficiency. However, the proposed EAOG inference mechanism is generically bi-directional without loss of both speed and efficiency.

  • In this study, we analyzed the LPG and LNG sensitivity measurement and voltage variation using catalytic type gas sensor characteristics in catalytic combustion type gas detecter sensors. gas detector shall operate as intended when exposed for 24 hours to air having a relative humidity of 0~85 percent at a temperature of $20[{\mu}m]$ and humidity of 45 percent at a temperature of $-10{\sim}40[^{\circ}C]$ the gas detecter sensors are to be subjected to operation for 210 days in an area that has been detemined to be equivalent to a typical residential atmosphere with an air velocity of 50 [cm/sec]. The source of energy for a gas detector sensors employing a supplementary basic circuit is energized from a separate source of supply direct applied voltage 2.1[V], 2.2[V], 2.3[V]. As a result, it was confirmed that the relative humidity and temperature by regression each analysis, compared to the LPG characteristic graph and methane characteristics graph by a relative humidity of 0 ~ 85 [%] at a temperature range of $-10{\sim}40[^{\circ}C]$ show a similar linear pattern on the whore.

  • e-Manufacturing can be referred to as a system methodology enabling the integration of manufacturing operations and IT technologies to achieve objectives of an enterprise. It is recently regarded as a powerful solution to survive in a chaotic marketplace. While conducting an e-Manufacturing project, we first needed to capture collaborative processes conducted by multiple participants in order to define functions of a system supporting them. However, pervasive process modeling techniques including IDEF3, Petri nets, and UML are not sufficient for modeling collaborative processes. Therefore, we first briefly investigate several process modeling methods including aforementioned modeling methods and ARIS focusing on the collaboration point of view. Then, we propose a new modeling method referred to as Collaborative Process Modeling (CPM) to clearly describe collaborative processes. Also, we develop and illustrate a rule for transforming collaborative process models into Marked Graph models to use the analysis power of the Petri nets. Using CPM empowers us to develop collaborative process models with simple notations, understand and facilitate the realization of the collaboration, and verify models before rushing into the development.

  • This paper presents a method which synthesizes asynchronous circuits from free-choice Signal Transition Graphs (STGs) with timing constraints. The proposed method synthesizes asynchronous circuits by analyzing: the relations between signal transitions directly from the STGs without generating state graphs. The synthesis procedure decomposes a free-choice STG into deterministic STGs which do not have choice behavior. Then, a timing analysis extracts the timed concurrency and tamed causality relations between any two signal transitions for each deterministic STG. The synthesis procedure synthesizes circuits for each deterministic STG and synthesizes the final circuit by merging the circuits for each deterministic STG. The experimental results show that our method achieves significant reductions in synthesis time for the circuits which have a large state space, and generates circuits that have nearly the same area as compared to previous methods.

  • In workplaces handling flammable gas such as hydrogen, hazardous area is determined through KS C IEC 60079-10-1 standard. Because this standard determines the hazardous distance based on the release characteristic regardless of the type of gas, indoor/outdoor conditions, and atmospheric conditions, concerns are being raised about the effectiveness. In this study, simulations (PHAST, HyRAM) were performed to calculate the hazardous distance for hydrogen under various release characteristics and atmospheric conditions, and compared these results to IEC standard log-log graph. Also, we performed regression analysis according to each result. we found that the simulation results were 0.6 to 3.8 times less than the IEC standard, presented convenient linear regression equations. In addition, We confirmed that the results of hazardous distance varied based on wind velocity and atmospheric stability at the same release characteristic. In addition, we derived linear regression equations for release characteristics and hazardous distance that can be conveniently utilized. So, when classifying hazardous area in workplaces where they handle the hydrogen, the integrated graph and linear regression equation are helpful for confirming the hazardous area. Moreover, it is expected that the economic burden will be minimized by being able to classify reasonable hazardous area and to greatly reduce the risk of hydrogen explosion.

  • The classification of islands is prerequisite for establishing a development policy to vitalize many-sided function of islands. We try to classify the 440 inhabited islands which exist in Jeon-Nam area and Kyong-Nam area by means of PCA. PCA begins with making correlation matrix of orignal variables. From this matrix we can comprehend the rough relationships between two variables. Next, we look for the eigenvalues which are roots of characteristic equation of correlation matrix. The number of eigenvalues is equal to that of original variables. We choose the largest eigenvalue λ$_1$among them and then look for the eigenvector of correlation matrix corresponding to the largest eigenvalue. Linear combination of eigenvector obtained above and original variables is namely first Principal Component (PC). Using an eigenvalue criterion(λ$\geq$ 1), we choose 3 PCs in Jeon-Nam area and 2 PCs in Kyong-Nam area. But we decide to consider only two PCs in both areas to faciliate a comparative analysis. Now, loss of information is 31.7% in Jeon-Nam area and 26.64% in Kyong-Nam area. PCs extracted by preceding procedure have characteristics as follows. The first PC relates to aggregate size of islands in case of both areas. The second PC relates to income per household, factors of agricultural production and factors of fisheries production in Jeon-Nam area, but in Kyong-Nam area it means distance from island and income per household. A classification of islands can be attained by plotting component scores of each island in graph used two PCs as axes and grouping similiar islands. 6 groups are formed in Jeon-Nam area and 5 groups in Kyong-Nam area. The result of this study in kyong-Nam area accords with prior result of study.
