  • Cityschumers experience the urban with the visual perception while walking an average speed of 4km per hour. At this time, recognition of the color field accounts for more than 70%. Therefore, in this paper the environmental color of urban street is examined by dividing the pedestrian visual field area. In the urban street, the area of the visual field area of the pedestrian is divided into Ground Plane, Roadside, Canopy and Building Wall. In addition, we observe and color survey the environmental color of Exhibition Road, which is the northern side space of South Kensington in London, which adopted the world's first shared space. The color of the visual filed area was dominated as YR, GY, Y, PB. The Ground Pland was dominated by the YR. The reason for this is that the color of the floor has changed due to the shadows of surrounding architecture and facilities. Roadside was dominated in various ways such as GY, BG, PB, B and P. Canopy was mainly composed of PB, GY, etc. It was found that the material color of the lower part of the architecture was reflected. The architecture wall was affected by the reflectance and absorption rate of the transparent material. The first image that comes to mind when thinking about the urban is the street where pedestrians walk, feel and enjoy themselves. Therefore, it is suggested that various policy frameworks for managing and managing urban planning professionals may be different from the perceptions of pedestrians active in mega cities.

  • The process of selecting a small number of representative colors from an image of higher color resolution is called color image quantization. In a color quantization process, it is vet important to determine what colors should be preserve and the others not. In our study, by the idea of an image can be divided into interesting area and uninteresting area, we propose a color quantization method that preserves more colors in the interesting area of an image. We evaluated correctness of extracting interesting area and compared the quality of our method with the others.

  • The purpose of the research is to estimate the amount of a color image reaction variation by changing areas in order to design the method to reduce an error about the color sample when it is applied in the real situation. The summary of the results acquired in this research is as followed. (1) With fixed observing distance of 1m, we observed that the value and chroma of each color object became higher as sight angle was increased as $2^{\circ},\;10^{\circ},\;and\;30^{\circ}$, even though the variation ratio was different. (2) With fixed sight angle of 10, we observed that the value and chroma of each color object becane higher as observing distance was changed from 1m to 3.3m, even though the variation ratio was different. (3) With same area, we observed that the values and chromas of each color object in the conditions of $1m-30^{\circ}\;and\;3.3m-10^{\circ}$ were almost same. (4) When the area became larger, the subjects tended to feel that colors were bright and clear with the increase of tone. In all the colors, the variation of a color reaction in chroma is higher than those in value. In future, we can observe the limit in applying to colors in the architecture by identifying the tendency of the color change according to the area change qualitatively.

  • This study proposed a method of detecting the facial area by calculating Euclidian distances among skin color elements and extracting the characteristics of the face. The proposed algorithm is composed of light calibration and face detection. The light calibration process performs calibration for the change of light. The face detection process extracts the area of skin color by calculating Euclidian distances to the input images using as characteristic vectors color and chroma in 20 skin color sample images. From the extracted facial area candidate, the eyes were detected in space C of color model CMY, and the mouth was detected in space Q of color model YIQ. From the extracted facial area candidate, the facial area was detected based on the knowledge of an ordinary face. When an experiment was conducted with 40 color images of face as input images, the method showed a face detection rate of 100%.

  • In this paper, we propose a discriminative color quantization algorithm depending on the degree of focus of the regions. When we take pictures, we usually focus the object that we want to emphasize. This means that focused area on the photograph contains important information. If the focused area is displayed with more colors, we can express the important information in more detail. This paper proposes a color quantization method that determines the focused area and assigns more colors for the area.

  • The number of basic color names and the corresponding hues used in Korea were investigated. First, we did a field study about the color terms in Korean. Our results identify the color term inventory in Korean and permit a further test of Berlin and Kay's(1969) theory of color universals. Second, 36 subjets performed a color matching task. The matching task allows the referents and the best examplars of each color names to be determined. The hue area and the central hue corresponding to the basic color names were represented in the two dimensional color space. This study provides not only basic materials of Korean color term to psychology and linguistics but also bases for further study to the internal structure of Korean color categories.

  • Color is a sense signal for human to perceive being through light, and the color is divided into chromatic color and achromatic color. Chromatic color has hue, intensity, and saturation, but achromatic color has only intensity among the properties of chromatic color and doesn't have hue and saturation. Therefore it is important to split colors of image into area for human to perceive colors and not to perceive ones based on vision of human being. In this paper, we find a function to split colors of image into chromatic region of chromatic color region and achromatic region of achromatic color region. First, the input image of RGB color space is converted into the image of HSI color space in consideration of human vision and get a binary image from the converted image. After then, a function to split colors into ROC(ROC: Region of chromatic.) and ROA(ROA:Region of achromatic) is yield. It is difficult to split color of a general image into ROC and ROA. Therefore, to get the chromatic area and achromatic area, we make gradient images to have all range of intensity and range of saturation and to have a little range of hue and yield the function. The evaluation is tested using subjective-quality by 50 non-experts for result images of test images and general images. The results of the proposed method get better 27.5~32.96% than these of the conventional method
