The aim of this study is to detect landslide using digital aerial photography and apply the landslide to landslide susceptibility mapping by artificial neural network (ANN) and geographic information system (GIS) at Jinbu area where many landslides have occurred in 2006 by typhoon Ewiniar, Bilis and Kaemi. Landslide locations were identified by visual interpretation of aerial photography taken before and after landslide occurrence, and checked in field. For landslide susceptibility mapping, maps of the topography, geology, soil, forest, lineament, and landuse were constructed from the spatial data sets. Using the factors and landslide location and artificial neural network, the relative weight for the each factors was determinated by back-propagation algorithm. As the result, the aspect and slope factor showed higher weight in 1.2-1.5 times than other factors. Then, landslide susceptibility map was drawn using the weights and finally, the map was validated by comparing with landslide locations that were not used directly in the analysis. As the validation result, the prediction accuracy showed 81.44%.
In case of using image sequence taken from a moving camera along a road in an urban area, general video mosaicing technique based on a single baseline cannot create 2-D image mosaics. To solve the drawback, this paper proposed a new image mosaicing technique through 3-D multi-baselines that can create image mosaics in 3-D space. The core of the proposed method is that each image frame has a dependent baseline, an equation of first order, calculated by using ground control point (GCP) of optical flows. The proposed algorithm consists of 4 steps: calculation of optical flows using hierarchical strategy, calculation of camera exterior orientation, determination of multi-baselines, and seamless image mosaics. This paper realized and showed the proposed algorithm that can create efficient image mosaics in 3-D space from real image sequence.

We examined the possibility of developing an early monitoring system using the shell valve movement activity of Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas) for early detection of low salinity water in coastal areas. At salinity levels of 30 psu and 20 psu, SVMs were detected $7.32{\pm}3.21times/hr$ and $7.11{\pm}3.90times/hr$, respectively, The patterns and times of SVMs were not significantly different between the two experiment phases. However, at 10 psu and 5 psu, shell valves were observed to be permanently closed in all experiments. Under combined condition (Group 1: temperature $15^{\circ}C$${\times}$ salinity 15 psu), SVMs were observed from 20 psu to 30 psu over a 2 - 3 hr period, and then remained closed. In Group 2 (temperature $30^{\circ}C$${\times}$ salinity 15 psu), SVMs were observed, which indicated that the physiological condition of the oysters reached a critical point. Thus, it may be possible to utilize SVMs as an early warning signal for low salinity water.
The government of South Korea has made great efforts in the area of railway safety management by means of a railway safety law and an integrated railway safety plan established in 2004 after the Daegu subway fire accident. However, after certain railway incidents, a reactive railway safety management system has been implemented that has led to fatal accidents caused by the collision, derailment, and fire every year. Hence, this study is intended to propose a framework that integrates data from distributed detection devices into a real-time railway safety monitoring and control system for proactive safety management. Furthermore, we will provide a future development direction for safety performance monitoring indicators to determine whether the railway safety monitoring and control system works effectively. The proposed framework is expected to be a cornerstone for the real-time railway safety monitoring and control system to be implemented in the future.

This study is for developing an algorithm to detect defects of manufactured textile fiber. We used CCD Video Input Equipments in order to capture fiber textile images. Though most of the fiber manufacturing procedures consist of automatic systems, present textile detecting systems are depending on manual inspection system. However this method is not very economical. Therefore we can expect high production rate in the fiber manufacturing area if we could develop and utilize an image processing algorithm to inspect defects of textile fiber. The study was aimed at and achieved development of an detecting algorithm using image processing methods and related mechanical system which enable to detect missing of threads, mixing of unnecessary materials, polluted areas, scars, and colour differences in the textile. Through this study we could devise a manless system for detection of fiber textile and Provide possibilities which apply the image Processing techniques to the other manufacturing inspection systems.
If gas is leaking out of gas pipelines, it could cause a huge explosion. Accordingly, it is important to ensure the integrity of gas pipelines. Traditionally, over the years, gas-operating companies have used the ILI system, which is based on axial magnetic flux leakage (MFL), to inspect the gas pipelines. Relatively, there is a low probability of detection (POD) for the axial defects with the axial MFL-based ILI. To prevent the buried pipeline from corrosion, it requires a protective coating. In addition to the potential damage to the coating by environmental factors and external forces, there could be defects on the damaged coating area. Thus, it is essential that nondestructive evaluation methods for detecting axial defects (axial cracks, axial groove) and damaged coating be developed. In this study, an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) sensor was designed and fabricated for detecting axial defects and coating disbondment. In order to validate the performances of the developed EMAT sensor, experiments were performed with specimens from axial cracks, axial grooves, and coating disbondment. The experimental results showed that the developed EMAT sensor could detect not only the axial cracks (minimum 5% depth of wall thickness) and axial grooves (minimum 10% depth of wall thickness), but also the coating disbondment.

Postabsorptive serum iron level was determined after oral administration of the compounds to human. In serum and whole blood, $Fe^{3+}$ was measured by ion chromatography (IC) using a pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (PDCA) as an eluent. The serum sample solutions were pretreated with I N HCI and 50% TCA. The whole blood sample solutions were treated with 3 N HCI for 30 min at $125^{\circ}C$. The limit of detection (LOD) of the IC technique is $0.2 {\mu}M$ for$Fe^{2+}$and 0.1 $\mu$M for $Fe^{3+}$. The area under concentration (AUC) can be obtained by the above analytical condition. In addition, to compare the stability of $Fe^{2+}$ to that of $Fe^{3+}$ in pharamaceutical preparations, accelerated stability test was carried out. After storing the samples under $40^{\circ}C$, 75%RH in light-resistant container for various time intervals, the contents of iron of different valencies were determined separately by the IC technique and the change and/or the interchange of among those iron species in preparations was investigated. Iron raw materials are stable, but $Fe^{2+}$ in$Fe^{3+}$ source materials was slightly converted to $Fe^{3+}$ by oxidation. $Fe^{2+}$ in$Fe^{3+}$ source raw materials and $Fe^{3+}$ in $Fe^{2+}$ raw materials are determined as impurities. Therefore, IC technique is found to be an appropriate method for comparative evaluation of dissimilar bioavailability of $Fe^{2+}$ and $Fe^{3+}$, stability of $Fe^{2+}$ and $Fe^{3+}$ raw materials and preparations.
In this paper, an electrochemical sensor for epinephrine (EP), a neurotransmitter was developed by anchoring molecularly imprinted polymeric matrix (MIP) on the surface of gold-coated quartz crystal electrode of electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) using starch nanoparticles (Starch NP) - reduced graphene oxide (RGO) nanocomposite as polymeric format for the first time. Use of EP in therapeutic treatment requires proper dose and route of administration. Proper follow-up of neurological disorders and timely diagnosis of them has been found to depend on EP level. The MIP sensor was developed by electrodeposition of starch NP-RGO composite on EQCM electrode in presence of template EP. As the imprinted sites are located on the surface, high specific surface area enables good accessibility and high binding affinity to template molecule. Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and piezoelectrogravimmetry were used for monitoring binding/release, rebinding of template to imprinted cavities. MIP-coated EQCM electrode were characterized by contact angle measurements, AFM images, piezoelectric responses including viscoelasticity of imprinted films, and other voltammetric measurements including direct (DPV) and indirect (using a redox probe) measurements. Selectivity was assessed by imprinting factor (IF) as high as 3.26 (DPV) and 3.88 (EQCM). Sensor was rigorously checked for selectivity in presence of other structurally close analogues, real matrix (blood plasma), reproducibility, repeatability, etc. Under optimized conditions, the EQCM-MIP sensor showed linear dynamic ranges ($1-10{\mu}M$). The limit of detection 40 ppb (DPV) and 290 ppb (EQCM) was achieved without any cross reactivity and matrix effect indicating high sensitivity and selectivity for EP. Hence, an eco-friendly MIP-sensor with high sensitivity and good selectivity was fabricated which could be applied in "real" matrices in a facile manner.
