In this paper, the fire extinguisher maintenance system using smart NFC communication and the real-time pressure measurement is proposed. The proposed system consists of three steps in the flow of information. The first step is to identify the fire extinguisher through NFC tagging in the fire extinguisher module using the smart device. The fire extinguisher appearance check and the real-time pressure measurement is performed in the second step, and the last step sends the check status information to the management server. In particular, the actual pressure value is calculated based on the angle of the green area and the indicating needle. Some experiments are conducted so as to verify the proposed system, and as a result, the proposed system shows that the administrator can effectively control the status information of fire safety check.

Face recognition of face images is an active subject in the area of computer pattern recognition, which has a wide range of potential. Automatic extraction of face image of the feature points is an important step during automatic face recognition. Whether correctly extract the facial feature has a direct influence to the face recognition. In this paper, a new method of facial feature extraction based on Discrete Wavelet Transform is proposed. Firstly, get the face image by using PC Camera. Secondly, decompose the face image using discrete wavelet transform. Finally, we use the horizontal direction, vertical direction projection method to extract the features of human face. According to the results of the features of human face, we can achieve face recognition. The result show that this method could extract feature points of human face quickly and accurately. This system not only can detect the face feature points with great accuracy, but also more robust than the tradition method to locate facial feature image.

The video surveillance system is adopted in many places due to its efficiency and constancy in monitoring a specific area over a long period of time. However, many surveillance systems composed of a single static camera often produce unsatisfactory results due to their lack of field of view. In this paper, we present a video surveillance system based on wide baseline stereo cameras to overcome the limitation. We adopt the codebook algorithm and mathematical morphology to robustly model the foreground pixels of the moving object in the scene and calculate the trajectory of the moving object via 3D reconstruction. The experimental results show that the proposed system detects a moving object and generates a top view trajectory successfully to track the location of the object in the world coordinates.

UTIS(Urban Traffic Information System) directly collects link travel time in urban area by using probe vehicles. Therefore it can estimate more accurate link travel speed compared to other traffic detection systems. However, UTIS includes some missing data caused by the lack of probe vehicles and RSEs on road network, system failures, and other factors. In this study, we suggest a new model, based on k-NN algorithm, for imputing missing data to provide more accurate travel time information. New imputation model is an adaptive k-NN which can flexibly adjust the number of nearest neighbors(NN) depending on the distribution of candidate objects. The evaluation result indicates that the new model successfully imputed missing speed data and significantly reduced the imputation error as compared with other models(ARIMA and etc). We have a plan to use the new imputation model improving traffic information service by applying UTIS Central Traffic Information Center.
In this study, quantitative and pattern recognition analyses for the quality evaluation of Herba Epimedii using HPLC was developed. For quantitative analysis, five major bioactive constituents, hyperin, epimedin A, epimedin B, epimedin C, and icariin were determined. Analysis was carried out on Capcell pak $C_{18}$ column ($250{\time}4.6$ mm, 5 ${\mu}m$) with a mobile phase of mixture of acetonitrile and 0.1% formic acid, using UV detection at 270 nm. The linear behavior was observed over the investigated concentration range (2-50 ${\mu}g/mL;\;r_2\;>$ 0.99) for all analytes. The intraand inter-day precisions were lower than 4.3% (as a relative standard deviation, RSD) and accuracies between 95.1% and 104.4%. The HPLC analytical method for pattern recognition analysis was validated by repeated analysis of one reference sample. The RSD of intra- and inter-day variation of relative retention time (RRT) and relative peak area (RPA) of the 12 selected common peaks were below 0.8% and 4.7%, respectively. The developed methods were applied to analysis of twenty Herba Epimedii extract samples. Contents of hyperin, epimedin A, epimedin B, epimedin C, and icariin were calculated to be 0$\sim$0.79, 0.69$\sim$1.91, 0.93$\sim$9.58, 0.65$\sim$3.05, and 2.43$\sim$11.8 mg/g dried plant. Principal component analysis (PCA) showed that most samples were clustered together with the reference samples but several apart from the main cluster in the PC score plot, indicating differences in overall chemical composition between two clusters. The present study suggests that quantitative determination of marker compounds combined with pattern-recognition method can provide a comprehensive approach for the quality assessment of herbal medicines.
In this study, a real-time crop recognition system was developed for an unmanned farm machine for upland farming. The crop recognition system was developed based on a stereo camera, and an image processing framework was proposed that consists of disparity matching, localization of crop area, and estimation of crop height with coordinate transformations. The performance was evaluated by attaching the crop recognition system to a tractor for five representative crops (cabbage, potato, sesame, radish, and soybean). The test condition was set at 3 levels of distances to the crop (100, 150, and 200 cm) and 5 levels of camera height (42, 44, 46, 48, and 50 cm). The mean relative error (MRE) was used to compare the height between the measured and estimated results. As a result, the MRE of Chinese cabbage was the lowest at 1.70%, and the MRE of soybean was the highest at 4.97%. It is considered that the MRE of the crop which has more similar distribution lower. the results showed that all crop height was estimated with less than 5% MRE. The developed crop recognition system can be applied to various agricultural machinery which enhances the accuracy of crop detection and its performance in various illumination conditions.

The existing research on the damage detection method for building structures has considered the damages from the excessive loadings such as the earthquake. However, the structural performance of building structures could be reduced due to the deterioration based on the chloride, carbonation during the long-term time. Thus, to effectively manage the healthiness of structures, the deterioration influences on the structures should be checked. In this study, the corrosion of rebars by the chloride is considered as the deterioration factor. To consider the structural performance reduction of the corroded rebars, the yield strength, cross-sectional area, rupture strain of rebars and the compressive strength of cover concrete based on the corrosion level are estimated. These properties of rebars and cover concrete are used for the procedure to evaluate the structural performance reduction of structural member level and the building level. The moment-curvature analysis is performed to evaluate the structural performance reduction of structural member level. Also, the eigenvalue analysis and the pushover analysis are performed to investigate the natural period and mode shape and the strength and deformation performance of buildings, respectively.
GRB100205A is a Gamma Ray Burst (GRB) which is suspected to be at redshift z=11-13 due to its very red H-K color($(H-K)_{vega}=2.1{\pm}0.5$). We observed a field centered at GRB100205A with Wide Field Camera (WFCAM) at United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT) in Hawaii, in order to search a quasar that could be located around the GRB. The images were obtained in J, H, and K filters covering a square area of $0.78deg^2$. Our J-, H-, and K-band data reach the depths of 22.5, 22.1, and 21.0 mag (Vega) at $5{\sigma}$, respectively. Also using z-band image observed by CFHT, we find 8 candidates that have colors consistent with a quasar at z=11-13(non-detection in z-, J-band and $(H-K)_{vega}$ > 1.6). However, the shallow depths of J-, H-band are not enough to verify their true nature. Instead, we identify many red objects to be old or dusty galaxies at $z{\geq}3$. The number density of such objects appears about twice or more than that of the field of Cosmological Evolution Survey (COSMOS) and Ultra Deep Survey (UDS) of UKIRT Infrared deep sky survey (UKIDSS). On scales between 0.18' and 15' the correlation function is well described by a power law with an exponent of ${\approx}-0.9$ and this implies that those objects are like galaxies. It is interesting that many red galaxies exist in the region where the GRB was detected.

We present a modeling of constraint satisfaction problems and provide heuristic algorithms of backtracking search to optimize the frequency assignment. Our research objective is to find a frequency assignment that satisfies all the constraints using minimum number of frequencies while maximizing the number of community radio stations served for a given area. In order to get a effective solution, some ordering heuristics such as variable orderings and value orderings are provided to minimize the backtracking in finding all solutions within a limited time. To complement the late detection of inconsistency in the backtracking, we provide the consistency enforcing technique or constraint propagation to eliminate the values that are inconsistent with some constraints. By integrating backtracking search algorithms with consistency enforcing techniques, it is possible to obtain more powerful and effective algorithms of constraint satisfaction problems. We also provide the performance evaluation of proposed algorithms by comparing the theoretical lower bound and our computed solution.
A high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) assay has been developed for the determination of ketorolac in human serum using a new extraction method with a good recovery. Human serum samples (1.0 ml) spiked with known concentrations of ketorolac tromethamine and 10${\mu}g$ of ketoprofen as the internal standard (IS) were acidified with 200${\mu}l$ of 1 N HCl and extracted with 7 ml of n-hexane-ether (7:3 v/v). Extracts were centrifuged and organic layer was back-extracted with 400${\mu}l$ of 0.1% tromethamine solution. Twenty .mu.l of centrifuged aqueous layer was injected onto a reversed-phase octyl column and eluted with a mixture of acetonitrile, water, methanol, and triethylamine [35:55:10:0.1 (v/v), pH 3.0] at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min. Ultraviolet detection of ketorolac and IS was carried out at 300 nm. The calibration curve obtained using peak area ratios showed a good linearity (in concentration range 10-150 ng/ml $r^2$=O.9944; in range 50-2000 ng/ml, r$^{2}$=0.9998). The mean intra-day accuracy and precision for this HPLC method were found to be 3.6 and 3.7%, respectively. The mean inter-day accuracy and precision were found to be 4.0 and 3.7%, respectively, in the concentration range 50-2000 ng/ml. The recovery of ketorolac from serum was 92.0 $({\pm}5.7)$ % at the concentration of 100 ng/ml. This method proved to be readily applicable to the assay of ketorolac in human serum.
