There are no way of collection, preservation and utilization for web resources after the service is terminated and is gone. However, these Web resources, regardless of the importance of periodically or aperiodically updated or have been destroyed. Therefore, to collect and preserve Web resources Web archive is being emphasized. Web resources collected periodically in order to develop Web archiving crawlers only was required. In this study, from the collection of Web resources to be used for archiving existing web crawlers to analyze the strengths and weaknesses. We have developed web archiving systems for the best collection of web resources.

The historical, social, and cultural value of Internet resources is indisputable, therefore many national institutions have created Web archiving projects to hand down this heritage to future generations. The selection guidelines are the most crucial aspect of these projects because they aid in differentiating which resources are worth collecting and preserving from the large number of web resources available. The purpose of this study was to suggest improvements for the OASIS Selection Guidelines by analyzing the selection guidelines of other domestic and international Web archiving projects. First, based on the results of Web archiving projects abroad, we proposed improvements for the definition of Web data and other terms, the basic principles of the collection, collection methods, and collection cycle. Second, we proposed substantial improvements in the target resources for archiving, and also stated what kind of web resources must be excluded from Web archiving. Finally, we discussed the relationship between data collection methods and the legal deposit of online resources, the necessity of constructing a database for selected target materials, and the necessity of cooperative archiving policies.

The National Library of Korea is administering a legal deposit system for the printedpublications. Whereas, OASIS(Online Archiving & Searching Internet Sources) has to design a system to collect, manage and preserve web sites and web resources for Web Archiving. The purpose of this study is to develop a digital deposit process for digital resources. As a result, this study defines the subjects and objects for digital deposits, and describes the definitions and the functions according to digital deposit steps. Also, this study designs the data flow diagram and proposes the function definitions on unit works and the structure for the flow of information.

The purpose of this study is to review what we have done and to identify what we have to do to be successful with Web archiving which is important to preserve our cultural heritage for the next generation. Some characteristics of Web resources as information sources were identified and some difficulties with Web archiving were discussed. The outcome of national and/or international Web archiving projects including Kurturarw3, PANDORA and Internet Archive were reviewed. Policy issues and technological problems of Web archiving we have to solve were listed.

This study is to develope the structures and the elements of the metadata for harvesting, management and preservation of a valuable web resources in the web archiving. For this study, we investigated the available metadata in the web archiving and surveyed the requirements of web archiving process. And we analyzed the characteristics of web resources. Also, this study was used a based on the ISO 14721 OAIS Reference Model. Finally, to share the metadata elements among the web archiving system, this study considered the interoperability for the exchange of the metadata. Based on the result, this study designed four structures of the metadata and defined the 28 core metadata elements for the web archiving.

This study aims at discussing development of web archiving policies in South Korea. The study is based on the understanding of that the institutional environment and efforts for keeping Web information resources are insufficient, compared to the value and importance of them. For the study, Web archiving practices are analyzed into three aspects: scope, method, and quality. Futhermore, they are graphically schematized as a comparative analysis model. Based on the model, the study classifies national Web archiving practices into seven unique types and diagnoses their cons and pros. In this context, a combined Web archiving policy is discussed as an optimal Web archiving approach. As a case study, the France National Library's Web archiving is discussed in depth and the Korean National Library's Web archiving project, OASIS, is critically analyzed. As a result, the study proposes two alternative plans for the development of Web archiving policy in South Korea.

Although the important information are significantly increasing in the Web, it is easily disappeared because of the Web's characteristics. The purpose of this paper is researching and developing of base technology for archiving web records. First developing about the workflow which is the procedure of web archiving, and developing about metadata elements, the essential condition of preserving web records and accessing archived resources. In terms of archiving. an importance of the Web is more increasing. Since the Internet has been popularized. many archivists have made efforts to preserve informational. cultural. and evidential values of the Web. Information resources on the Web raise archival issues that are significantly different from issues of preservation for tangible materials, because they are based on unique characteristics of the Web. One of issues is about a technical aspect which is based on technical architecture of Web. Another important issue is related to legal problems including copyright, authenticity and so on. In this context. it is essential to understand technical and legal characteristics of the Web. A purpose of this article is to review technical and legal aspects of Web archiving and to find an agenda for development of Web archiving.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the directions for building national digital archiving strategies. This present paper begins with surveying S&T information resources especially in public sector, and analyse the priority criteria for appraising and selecting the resources for long-term preservation. Emphasis is placed on identifying the critical tasks for each type of resources including scientific data, technical reports, theses, journal, web, e-prints, etc. and some levels of organizations in the national digital archiving framework. Based on the analysis, it suggests some strategic agenda for developing national digital archiving system.

The need for and importance of preserving various information resources on the web is constantly increasing. In addition to traditional types of records, the web contains communication records displaying various people's diverse viewpoints and connecting an event to its context. In particular, information resources produced during a disaster must be collected for long-term preservation. The "OASIS Disaster Archive" is a service provided through OASIS, which was developed and is managed by the National Library of Korea, to collect and preserve online information resources related to the recent disaster events in Korea. This study examines the characteristics and current status of the contents of the Disaster Archive to make suggestions for its improvements.
