  • "Gyeonggi-do Memory," established and operated by Gyeonggi-do Cyber Library, is a local digital archive aiming to broaden the access to Gyeonggi-do's cultural resource records. Since 2014, the library has been expanding its digital information service, starting with the said archive. Through cooperation with various cultural institutions in the province, it builds the digital archive by collecting numerous records. In particular, the archive is expected to establish itself as a repository that stores records of production or dealing in Gyeonggi-do and a platform to share with researchers and citizens.

  • Finding aids are descriptive tools for archival materials in order to physically and intellectually understand and control archival collections. For electronic finding aids, encoded archival description has been developed as part of the Online Archive of California project for direct and comprehensive access to a variety of archival materials across the California state. The purpose of this article are: to understand a brief history of EAD development; to examine EAD encoding, format conversion, structure, and representation used in OAC; and to necessarily suggest that a customized EAD model should be developed for Korean contexts.

  • Cyber powers around the world are conducting cyber information-gathering activities in cyberspace, a global domain within the Internet-based information environment. Accordingly, it is imperative to obtain the latest information through the cyber intelligence preparation of the battlefield (IPB) process to prepare for future cyber operations. Research utilizing the cyber battlefield visualization method for effective cyber IPB and situation awareness aims to minimize uncertainty in the cyber battlefield and enable command control and determination by commanders. This paper designed architecture by classifying cyberspace into a physical, logical network layer and cyber persona layer to visualize the cyber battlefield using BGP archive data, which is comprised of BGP connection information data of routers around the world. To implement the architecture, BGP archive data was analyzed and pre-processed, and cyberspace was implemented in the form of a Di-Graph. Information products that can be obtained through visualization were classified for each layer of the cyberspace, and a visualization method was proposed for performing cyber IPB. Through this, we analyzed actual North Korea's BGP and OSINT data to implement North Korea's cyber battlefield centered on the Internet network in the form of a prototype. In the future, we will implement a prototype architecture based on Elastic Stack.

  • Festival records are valuable social records, not only historically but also culturally. Even though festival records are worthy of preservation, many of them are not managed appropriately. In particular, photographs taken by the public are dispersed in various SNS services such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. This study collected festival photographs, taken by the public, from these SNS services and built a participatory archive for Daegu. As such, this study identified and suggested a metadata set through the process of archiving festival photographs. In addition, this study proposed a model of the participatory archive for festival photographs. This model illustrated the institute's collection of festival photographs in the SNS services and the creation of the participatory archive.

  • Performing arts is an intangible arts that disappears immediately at the moment it is presented and remains only in the memory of the performer's body and audience. The same repetition, restoration and reproduction of the disappeared performance is impossible, but artists of all times and places have tried various recording methodology to leave their performances in the tangible form. The performing arts archive is where performing arts are recorded, preserved, and utilized. In the fourth industrial Revolution era, library institutions in developed countries are turning into institutions that support creative activity by not only artists but also the general public. Korea's performing arts archives should also shift from the role of an old archive to a platform to create new cultural contents. This paper summarizes the changes in the Korean performing arts archive and presents the creative application of the performing arts archive in response to the fourth industrial revolution.

  • This study investigates the concentration distribution of aldehydes and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the archive of the National Library in Korea and evaluates the health risks to workers from hazardous chemicals. Acetaldehyde had the highest concentration among the nine species of aldehydes present in the archive and the concentration of toluene was the highest among the six species of VOCs. Most of the detected substances showed that their indoor concentrations were higher than the outdoor ones, suggesting the possibility of indoor sources of aldehydes and VOCs. The evaluation of health risks for workers based on these measurement results showed that not all substances were hazardous to the human body. However, considering the possibility of the presence of indoor sources and the potential limits of our study owing its short period, it is necessary to conduct long-term studies on the concentration distribution of indoor pollutants in the archive environment.

  • This study was conducted to create a digital archive for local cultural contents compiled from the records of westerners who stayed in Korea during the Enlightenment Period of Chosun. The compiled information were gathered from 22 records, and 10 main subjects, 40 sub-subjects and 239 mini-subjects were derived through the subject classification scheme. Item analysis was conducted through 38 metadata and input data types were classified and databased in Excel. Finally, a web-based digital archiving system was developed for searching and providing information through various access points. Suggestions for future research were made to expand archive contents through continuous excavation of westerners' records, to build an integrated information system of Korean digital archives incorporating individual archive systems, to develop standardization of classification schemes and a multidimensional classification system considering facet structure in cultural heritage areas, to keep consistency of contents through standardization of metadata format, and to build ontology using semantic search functions and data mining functions.

  • In this paper, we introduce the performance evaluation of data archive system for saving correlation result of Daejeon correlator with high-data rate. Daejeon correlator supports various correlation modes, but the speed of correlation result is affected by correlator according to the integration time in each mode. Maximum data rate of Daejeon correlator is 1.4GB/s in case of C1 mode with 25.6ms integration time. In this research, the performance evaluation of the proposed data archive system is conducted for saving correlation results connected with 4 10GbE optical cable with VCS (VLBI Correlation Subsystem), which is the core system of Daejeon correlator. For the experiments, the data archive system for 2 benders was selected and benchmark test was performed. In this paper, the developed data generation program of VCS correlation result file for benchmark test and evaluation results are described.
