  • It is necessary to develop a next generation location referencing method with higher accuracy as advanced technologies such as autonomous vehicles require higher accuracy of location data. Thus, we proposed a framework for a lane-level location referencing method (L-LRM) based on high-precision digital road network map, and developed a tool which is capable of analyzing and evaluating the proposed method. Firstly, the necessity and definition of location referencing method was presented, followed by the proposal of an L-LRM framework with a fundamental structure of high-precision digital road network map for the method. Secondly, an architecture of the analysis and evaluation tool was described and then the Windows application program was developed using C/C++ programming language. Finally, we demonstrated the performance of the proposed framework and the application program using two different high precision digital maps with randomly generated road event data.

  • In this study, a framework for optimizing the opening in an outrigger wall is proposed. To solve a constrained bounded optimization problem, an in-house finite element program and SQP algorithm in Python SciPy library are utilized. The openings of the outrigger wall are located according to the strut-tie behavior of the outrigger wall deep beam. A linear interpolation method is used to obtain differentiable continuous functions required for optimization, whereas a database is used for the efficiency of the optimization program. By comparing the result of the two-variable optimization through the moving path of the search algorithm, it is confirmed that the algorithm efficiently determines the optimized result. When the size of each opening is set to individual variables rather than the same width of all openings, the value of the objective function is minimized to obtain better optimization results. It was confirmed that the optimization time can be effectively reduced when using the database in the optimization process.

  • Although steel-reinforced concrete(SRC) is widely used in a high-rise building, a methods used to predict the column shortening of SRC structural members has many problems in applying a theoretical equation which considers only the material characteristics of reinforced concrete. In this study, the degree of accuracy of the existing method calculating the column shortening of a high-rise building is examined. For this, first, the actual measurement data are chosen about the column shortening of a high-rise building established with SRC structural members. Then the column shortening of a SRC structural member is calculated through computer program. Finally, the comparison between the measurement data and the analytical ones is executed. According to this study, it can be concluded that there is little difference between the former and the latter. Therefore, the existing method can be used to evaluate the column shortening of a high-rise building using a SRC structural members.

  • As many countries have been raising awareness of environmental issues, greater efforts for eco-friendly construction have been made in both governmental and private sectors. However, assessment circumstances for building energy performance and green building standard of legislation are still based on two dimension and handwork. This takes time, cost and labor, and makes assessment inaccurate and inefficient. Therefore, this study suggests methods to improve eco-friendly construction permission process and to automatize open BIM-based assessment of Energy Performance Index (EPI) among several eco-friendly construction certification standards. First, it analyzes the relations between assessment criteria and IFC data, and provides solutions to problems and limitations. Second, it applies the solutions to assessment program in order to automatize open BIM-based assessment for EPI. The eco-friendly construction permission process with these solutions applied will reduce time, cost, and labor by simplifying and automatizing the tasks. Also, the simplified process of design revision will improve not only productivity and efficiency but also accuracy and reliability.

  • In this study, observations of oil leakage samples taken from the actual site were performed to identify the causes of the oil leakage phenomenon. As a result, the separation of the material components was determined as the main cause of the oil leakage phenomenon based on the changes in the surface conditions, and verification of this was conducted. The evaluation results confirmed that the filler component of the asphalt mastic subsided with the lapse of the settling time, and that the difference ratio of the filler contents of the upper and lower specimens was up to 23.8% after day 28. Based on these results, a hypothesis on the oil leakage mechanism of asphalt mastic was established, and then modeling of the entire process of oil leakage was performed.

  • Purpose: Quasi-steady state simulations have played a pivoting role to expand the user group of simulation to design engineers and architects in Korea. Initially they are introduced in the market as a building energy performance rating tool. In domestic practice, however, quasi-steady state simulations seem to be regarded as a de facto simulation only available for energy retrofit. Selection of ECMs and economic feasibility analysis are being decided through these tools, which implies that running these tools has become a norm step of the Investment-grade Audit. Method: This study aims at identifying issues and problems with the current practice via test cases, analyzing the reasons and opportunities, and then eventually suggesting proper uses of quasi-steady state and dynamic simulations. Result: The functionality of quasi-steady state simulations is more optimized to the rating. If they are to used for energy retrofits, their off-the-shelf functions also need to be expanded for customization and detailed reports. Yet their roles may be limited only to the go/no go decision; because their algorithms are still weak at precisely estimating energy and load savings that are required for making investment decisions compared to detailed simulations.

  • This study focus on shaft box facade, special form of box window construction. It consists of a system of box window with continuous vertical shafts that extend over a number of stories to create a stack effect. The subject building was decided by analyzing various types of exiting apartments. Shaft box type balcony was devised by setting up shaft space at a part of balcony. Air flow and indoor air temperature were simulated, performance of shaft box type balcony was compared with existing types using VE computer simulation program. Research consequence can be summarized as follow: 1) In the case of existing types, the change of window opening rate has only a little effect on the improvement of indoor temperature. But, air flow rate increased two times in the case that changed opening rate 20% to 40% 2) In the case of existing types, the growth of air flow rate has little effect on the improvement of indoor temperature. But, shaft box type represented the remarkable effect on the improvement of indoor temperature as well as the growth of air flow rate.

  • The majority of fixed shading devices are installed in the exterior of a building in order to dissipate the heat absorbing from the sun and to prevent the direct sunlight. In designing external shading devices for windows, many requirements must be considered simultaneously; solar geometry, optimum energy performance, multi-purpose usage and design factors etc.. In order Lo satisfy these requirements, we suggests the folding shading device and its optimum design methodology. Also we analyzed the thermal performance using the IES_VE program according to various operating modes and compared with existing shading devices. The results show that proposed device reduce about $1.90{\sim}22.40%$ in cooling load and about $1.09{\sim}24.22%$ in heating load in comparison with existing ones.

  • This study aims at the new design system development of landscape architecture structures, as soundproof wall using reinforced soil block. This structures, that is new soundproof wall system, have to be maintained stability on acting critical wind load, which is combined exist soundproof wall system and soundproof wall system using environmental green stone block. To the harmony of this system, the post block, so-called landscape block or cast block, is manufactured. It's possible to stand of the post bearing system combined with post-pile and post block. Through the comparison with a serious code for the acting wind load on the soundproof wall, the reasonable wind load could be calculated. Also, the mechanical stability on the green stone block was checked by the Lab. tests based on the UBC (Uniformed Building Code). Because the critical height of soundproof wall system using green stone generally was restricted, the new system demands to combination of the exist system and the new system. For the stability analysis of them, the utility program, SAP2000, was used. And, a semi-auto program on the design system of the new soundproof wall using green stone was developed, which can be easily use because of the simplification.
