  • Currently an office in information society is advanced to a digitalized VDT office. The VDT office has a natural luminous system prioritizing visual perception and so importance of lighting design by artificial lighting is emphasized in the VDT office. The purpose of the study is to analyze Illumination and Luminance for lighting design by the standard of ergonomics in the VDT office. The study analyzed Illumination and Luminance in the main control room of an nuclear power plant needing a design of ergonomics ACR(Advanced Control Room) type Ling Ao phase II NPP MCR in Guangdong, China. The study examined the relativity of ACR characteristics to its operator's duties and set up an outline of lighting design, the standard of ergonomics and input data for the analysis. Thus, the study examined appropriateness with the standard of ergonomics setting up the analyzed Illumination and Luminance and drew a conclusion.

Toward Generic, Immersive, and Collaborative Solutions to the Data Interoperability Problem which Target End-Users

  • In this paper, we describe our vision of a "Just-in-time" initiative to solve the Data Interoperability Problem (a.k.a. INTEROP.) We provide an architectural overview of our initiative which draws upon existing technologies to develop an immersive and collaborative approach which aims at empowering data stakeholders (e.g., data producers and data consumers) with integrated tools to interact and collaborate with each other while directly manipulating visual representations of their data in an immersive environment (e.g., implemented via Second Life.) The semantics of these visual representations and the operations associated with the data are supported by ontologies defined using the Common Logic Framework (CL). Data operations gestured by the stakeholders, through their avatars, are translated to a variety of generated resources such as multi-language source code, visualizations, web pages, and web services. The generality of the approach is supported by a plug-in architecture which allows expert users to customize tasks such as data admission, data manipulation in the immersive world, and automatic generation of resources. This approach is designed with a mindset aimed at enabling stakeholders from diverse domains to exchange data and generate new knowledge.

가로공간 이미지에 영향을 미치는 가로변건축물 형태구성요소에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Form-Element of Buildings Affecting in Street Spaces)

  • 가로는 도시를 구성하는 선적(線的) 요소로서 도시 발전의 축이다. 이러한 가로의 본질적 기능은 통행이 목적인 교통공간이지만 이와 함께 사람과 사람의 만남, 휴식, 오락 등의 다양한 활동을 담아내는 커뮤니티의 장으로서 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 가로는 기본적으로 보도와 차도 그리고 가로를 에워싸고 있는 가로변 건축물로 구성되는 3차원의 공간이다. 이때 가로변건축물은 가로공간을 구성하는 중요한 물리적 구성요소로 가로변건축물의 입면은 사람들이 가로공간의 이미지를 형성하는데 중요한 변수로 작용하게 된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 가로변 건축물의 입면을 구성하는 형태구성요소를 대상으로 가로경관의 이미지에 영향을 미치는 시지각적 우세요소들을 추출하고 각각의 요소들의 만족도와 선호도를 조사/분석하여 향후 도시가로 경관계획 시 기초자료로 활용할 수 있도록 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다.

공간사용자의 본능적 시선탐색활동에 나타난 주사경로 알고리즘 특성 (The feature of scanning path algorithm shown at natural visual search activities of space user)

  • 본 연구는 지하철 로비공간을 대상으로 한 주시실험을 통해 공간정보의 본능적 시선탐색과정에서 나타나는 주시특성에 나타난 주사경로 알고리즘을 분석하였다. 주시기간 구간별 분석에서 주시시간이 오래 경과할수록 주사유형 횟수가 증가하고 있었는데, 오래 주시할수록 주시단절이 많이 일어난 것으로 해석이 가능하며, 주시에 따른 피로나 활발한 탐색이 자연스러운 공간탐색과정에서 일어나는 과정에서 화상범위를 벗어나는 경우가 많았던 것으로 보인다. 또한 시간구간의 변화에 따른 주사유형의 변화를 추세선으로 살펴본 결과, "집중"은 시간구간의 증가와 함께 가파른 증가, "대각 수직"은 완만한 증가를 보이는 반면, "순환 혼합 수평"은 감소 경향을 보이고 있다. 공간을 주시한 피험자의 주시데이터에는 다양한 시각정보가 포함되어 있는데, "주의집중"에 나타난 주사유형을 분석한 결과, 이상과 같은 의미 있는 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 이러한 주사유형의 증감특성은 시간의 경과에 따른 주사경향을 파악함에 있어 기초자료가 될 수 있다.

Developing a Web-Based Knowledge Product Outsourcing System at a University

  • The availability of technology and the abundance of experts in universities create an ample opportunity to provide a venue that allows a knowledge seeker to easily connect with and request advice from university experts. On the other hand, outsourcing provides opportunities and remains one of the emerging trends in organizations, and can very clearly observed in the Philippines. This paper describes the development of a reliable web-based approach to Knowledge Product Outsourcing (KPO) services in the Silliman Online University Learning system. The system is called an "e-Knowledge Box."It integrates Web 2.0 technologies and mechanisms, such as instant messaging, private messaging, document forwarding, video conferencing, online payments, net meetings, and social collaboration together into one system. Among the tools used are WAMP Server 2.0, PHP, BlabIM, Wordpress 3.0, Video Whisper, Red5, Adobe Dreamweaver CS4, and Virtual Box. The proposed system is integrated with the search engine in URLs, Web feeds, email links, social bookmarking, search engine sitemaps, and Web Analytics Direct Visitor Reports. The site demonstrates great web usability and has an excellent rating in functionality, language and content, online help and user guides, system and user feedback, consistency, and architectural and visual clarity. Likewise, the site was was rated as being very good for the following items: navigation navigation, user control, and error prevention and correction.

전자도서관 웹사이트의 품질향상을 위한 사용성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Usability Evaluation for Improving Quality of University Digital Library Website in Korea)

  • 본 연구에서는 호서대학교 전자도서관 웹사이트를 대상으로 하여 웹사이트 사용성 평가도구를 이용한 분석(Doctor HTML 및 Web Site Garage)을 적용하여 웹브라우즈의 호환성 및 접속속도를 분석하였고, 온라인 설문조사를 실시하여 네비게이션, 기능성, 이용자의 통제, 언어 및 컨텐츠, 시스템 및 이용자 피드백, 일관성, 구조적 및 시각적 명료성 등의 주요 속성에 관한 분석 및 평가를 통하여 문제점 및 개선방안을 도출하였다. 그리고 분석 및 평가결과를 반영하여 사용성에 기반한 우리나라 대학의 전자도서관 웹사이트 구축에 적용할 수 있는 일반적 지침을 제시하였다.

Real-time 3D Audio Downmixing System based on Sound Rendering for the Immersive Sound of Mobile Virtual Reality Applications

  • Eight out of the top ten the largest technology companies in the world are involved in some way with the coming mobile VR revolution since Facebook acquired Oculus. This trend has allowed the technology related with mobile VR to achieve remarkable growth in both academic and industry. Therefore, the importance of reproducing the acoustic expression for users to experience more realistic is increasing because auditory cues can enhance the perception of the complicated surrounding environment without the visual system in VR. This paper presents a audio downmixing system for auralization based on hardware, a stage of sound rendering pipelines that can reproduce realiy-like sound but requires high computation costs. The proposed system is verified through an FPGA platform with the special focus on hardware architectural designs for low power and real-time. The results show that the proposed system on an FPGA can downmix maximum 5 sources in real-time rate (52 FPS), with 382 mW low power consumptions. Furthermore, the generated 3D sound with the proposed system was verified with satisfactory results of sound quality via the user evaluation.

  • 본연구는 과거에서 현재, 미래라는 시간의 흐름에서 생성에서 폐기로 귀결되는 건축물의 문제점을 인식하고, 보다 지속가능한 건축환경을 위한 방안을 제시하는데 그 목표를 둔다. 이에 문제해결의 방안을 생물체의 위계구조와 진화 및 적응에서 찾고자 하였으며, 연구의 진행과정은 다음과 같다. ·건축환경의 인간에 대한 지원성의 의미롸 디자이너의 역할에 대해 설명하였다. · 이용자 중심의 계획의 필요성을 인식하고, 홀론 이론에 따른 다충적 위계 시스템의 건축에의 적응과 건축공간에 시간의 개념을 도입함으로써 완결이 아닌 과정으로써의 건축의 중요성을 밝혔다. ·베르나르 츄미의 라 빌레뜨공원을 위에 인급한 이론적 관점에 분석하였다. 연구과정을 통해 구체적 사례를 분석해 봄으로, 이론적 관점을 적용한 시각적 대안 마련을 위한 하나의 기초적 정보가 될 수 있기를 기대한다.

전시배치방식 유형과 관람행동 상관성 분석 - 국립중앙과학관 상설전시관을 중심으로 - (An Analysis on the Relationship Between Exhibition Arrangement Types and Viewing Behaviors - Focusing on the Permanent Exhibition Halls at the National Science Museum -)

  • Founded on a close relationship between exhibition scenarios and media, this study was conducted 1) to establish exhibition arrangement types by using three analytical indicators, such as arrangement types of exhibition, groupings of similar exhibition media, and exhibition density; and 2) to demonstrate the importance of considering the characteristics of exhibition arrangement types by using viewing behavior codes as a major analytical indicator. The following three types were investigated in this research: First, the Independent type (Type C) was found to be strongly influenced by architectural and spatial forms, especially by low exhibition density and high visual information. Also, compared with the Wall Dominant type, low number of viewing behavior codes and distribution was found even though there were high correlations among viewing behavior codes. This is assumed to be due to low exhibition density. Second, the Wall Dominant type (Type A) was found to be not influenced by architectural and spatial forms. This is because space is planned and restructured centering on the wall type showcases. At the planning stage of exhibition, it is easy to divide or combine space according to the contents and structure of exhibition scenarios. Compared with the Independent type, low correlations were found among viewing behavior codes. This is due to low participation or manipulation exhibitions. However, this implies that more active viewing behaviors can be induced if appropriate exhibition techniques and arrangement methods are used for each exhibition content. Third, the Independent Dominant type (Type B) was found to confuse visitors in selecting routes by displaying too many exhibits at a limited space in a disorderly fashion. It failed to attract visitors to the main exhibition area, where a big space is formed in the center. Visitors were found to view exhibits that are arranged near the major traffic line.

어린이병원 외래진료부 이용자의 대기 및 휴게행태 연구 - 장애 및 비장애 어린이의 비교 분석을 중심으로 - (A Research on the Waiting and Resting Behaviors of Children in the Outpatient Clinic of a Children's Hospital - Focused on the Comparative Analysis between Children with and without Disabilities -)

  • This study investigates the waiting and resting behaviors of children within a restorative healthcare facility design. In particular, the aim is to compare children with and without disabilities and reveal similarities and differences in terms of their behavioral characteristics and uses of design facilities, related to positive distraction, for restoration in the hospital. Three major common spaces for outpatients in S children's hospital in Seoul were examined including the main lobby and two waiting and resting spaces in the pediatric and rehabilitation medicine departments, respectively. A total of 155 children under the age of 12-67 with physical disabilities and 88 without-were observed while they waited and rested at the three spaces before or after doctors' examination. Basic demographic information and waiting and resting behavioral characteristics were compared between the two groups. The results indicated that the disabled children were more restricted in terms of space, facilities used, and social behaviors. However, regardless of disabilities, the children showed more positive distractions related to cognitive and social behaviors in areas where restorative design elements such as an aquarium, garden, or visual images were available. Based on the results, design implications were discussed to strengthen positive distraction behaviors in children with and without disabilities and to foster the restorative quality of the spaces for waiting and resting in the children's hospital.
