  • A combined model of probabilistic and MLP(multi layer perceptron) model is proposed for the pattern classification of EMG( electromyogram) signals. The MLP model has a problem of not guaranteeing the global minima of error and different quality of approximations to Bayesian probabilities. The probabilistic model is, however, closely related to the estimation error of model parameters and the fidelity of assumptions. A proper combination of these will reduce the effects of the problems and be robust to input variations. Proposed model is able to get the MAP(maximum a posteriori probability) in the probabilistic model by estimating a priori probability distribution using the MLP model adaptively. This method minimize the error probability of the probabilistic model as long as the realization of the MLP model is optimal, and this is a good combination of the probabilistic model and the MLP model for the usage of MLP model reliability. Simulation results show the benefit of the proposed model compared to use the Mlp and the probabilistic model seperately and the average calculation time fro classification is about 50ms in the case of combined motion using an IBM PC 25 MHz 386model.

  • Using Coulomb-Yukawa like correlated interaction potentials of integer and noninteger indices the series expansion formulae in terms of multicenter overlap integrals of three complete orthonormal sets of ${\psi}^{\alpha}$‒exponential type orbitals and linear combination coefficients of molecular orbitals are established for the potential of electrostatic field produced by the charges of molecule, where $\alpha$ = 1, 0, ‒1, ‒2,${\cdots}$. The formulae obtained can be useful for the study of interaction between atomic--molecular systems containing any number of closed and open shells when the ${\psi}^{\alpha}$‒exponential type basis functions and Coulomb-Yukawa like correlated interaction potentials are used in the Hartree-Fock-Roothaan and explicitly correlated approximations. The final results are valid for the arbitrary values of parameters of correlated interaction potentials and orbitals. As an example of application, the calculations have been performed for the potential energy of interaction between electron and molecule $H_2O$ using combined Hartree-Fock-Roothaan equations suggested by the author.

  • This study deals with the generalization of the Elliptic Restricted Three-Body Problem (ER3BP) by considering the effects of radiation and oblate spheroid primaries. This may illustrate a gas giant exoplanet orbiting its host star with eccentric orbit. In the three dimensional case, this generalization may possess two additional equilibrium points ($L_{6,7}$, out-of-plane). We determine the existence of $L_{6,7}$ in ER3BP under the effects of radiation (bigger primary) and oblateness (small primary). We analytically derive the locations of $L_{6,7}$ and assume initial approximations of (${\mu}-1$, ${\pm}\sqrt{3A_2}$), where ${\mu}$ and $A_2$ are the mass parameter and oblateness factor, respectively. The fixed locations are then determined. Our results show that the locations of $L_{6,7}$ are periodic and affected by $A_2$ and the radiation factor ($q_1$).

  • It is well known that the FLRs are excited by compressional waves via mode conversion, but there has been no apparent criterion on the maximum amplitude in the regime of linear approximations. Such limited range of amplitude should be understood by including nonlinear saturation of FLRs, which has not been examined until now. In this study, using a three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulation code, we examine the evolution of nonlinear field line resonances (FLRs) in the cold plasmas. The MHD code used in this study allows a full nonlinear description and enables us to study the maximum amplitude of FLRs. When the disturbance is sufficiently small, it is shown that linear properties of MHD wave coupling are well reproduced. In order to examine a nonlinear excitation of FLRs, it is shown how these FLRs become saturated as the initial magnitude of disturbances is assumed to increase. Our results suggest that the maximum amplitude of FLRs become saturated at the level of the same order of dB/B as in observations roughly satisfies the order of ~0.01. In addition, we extended this study for the plasma sheet boundary layer (PSBL) region. We can discuss the maximum disturbances of the Alfven via mode conversion becomes differently saturated through each region.

  • Computational results from Navier-Stokes equations are presented for the Stokes-wave/flat-plate boundary-layer and wake for small wave steepness(Ak=0.01), including exact and approximate treatments of the viscous free-surface boundary conditions. The macro-scale flow indicate that the variations of the external-flow pressure gradients cause acceleration or deceleration of the streamwise velocity component and alternating direction of the cross flow. Remarkably, the wake displays a greater response, i.e., a bias with regard to favorable as compared to adverse pressure gradients. The micro-scale flow indicates that the free-surface boundary conditions have a profound influence over the boundary layer and near/intermediate wake. Order-of-magnitude estimates are conformed to the computational results. And appreciable errors are introduced through approximations to the free-surface boundary conditions.

  • Shape of a multi-blades centrifugal fan is optimized by response surface method based on three-dimensional Navier-Stokes analysis. For numerical analysis, Reynolds-averaged Wavier-Stokes equations with standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model are transformed into non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system, and are discretized with finite volume approximations. Due to the large number of blades in this centrifugal fan, the flow inside of the fan is regarded as steady flow by introducing the impeller force models for economic calculations. Optimizations with and without constraints are carried out. Design variables, location of cur off, radius of cut off, expansion angle of scroll and width of impeller were selected to optimize the shapes of scroll and blades. Data points for response evaluations were selected by D-optimal design, and linear programming method was used for the optimization on the response surface. As a main result of the optimization, the efficiency was successfully improved. The correlation of efficiency with relative size of inactive zone at the exit of impeller is discussed as well as with average momentum fluxes in the scroll.

  • Non-planar screens such as cylinder and sphere shaped screens are widely used for high-resolution immersive visualization environments. An existing method employs quadric matrix that maps an image onto a curved screen. However if the shape of the screen changes or moves, the quadric matrix will not be valid. In this paper, we assume that the screen is a quadric shape and the screen movement or change are relatively small. Then we propose to use a piecewise planar approximations for the screen to compensate for the geometric distortion on a non-planar screen. We demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method through experiments.

  • In the present study, an efficient method for the optimum design of three-dimensional (3D) steel framed structures is proposed. In this method, in addition to choosing the best position of columns based on architectural requirements, the optimum cross-sectional dimensions of elements are determined. The preliminary design variables are considered as the number of columns in structural plan, which are determined by a direct optimization method suitable for discrete variables, without requiring the evaluation of derivatives. After forming the geometry of structure, the main variables of the cross-sectional dimensions are evaluated, which satisfy the design constraints and also achieve the least-weight of the structure. To reduce the number of finite element analyses and the overall computational time, a new third order approximate function is introduced which employs only the diagonal elements of the higher order derivatives matrices. This function produces a high quality approximation and also, a robust optimization process. The main feature of the proposed techniques that the higher order derivatives are established by the first order exact derivatives. Several examples are solved and efficiency of the new approximation method and also, the proposed method for the best position of columns in 3D steel framed structures is discussed.

  • Combining a detailed non-grey radiative transfer computation with the three dimensional hydrodynamics, we investigate a reliable numerical scheme for turbulent convection in the solar surface. The solar photosphere is the extremely turbulent region composed of partly ionized compressible gases in high temperature. Especially, the super adiabatic layer (SAL) near the solar photosphere is the shallow transition region where the energy transport varies steeply from convection to radiation. In order to describe physical processes accurately, a detailed treatment of radiative transfer should be considered as well as the high resolution computation of fluid dynamics. For a direct computation of radiation fields, the Accelerated Lambda Iteration (ALI) methods have been applied to hydrodynamical medium, incorporating the Opacity Distribution Function (ODF) as a realistic schemes for non-grey problems. Computational domain is the rectangular box of dimensions $42{\times}3Mn$ with the resolution of $1202{\times}190$ meshed grids, which covers several granules horizontally and 8 ~ 9 pressure scale heights vertically. During several convective turn-over times, the 3-D snapshots have been compiled with a second order accuracy. In addition, our radiation-hydrodynamical computation has been compared with the classical approximations such as grey atmospheres and Eddington approximation.

  • This study aims to present a more reasonable control value than the exiting one by comparing and analyzing control values and field instrument8tion values of the whole excavation depth of the four case sites, using geometric averaging as a statistical method. The range of the study is confined to the horizontal displacement of braced excavation walls among a variety of items, prescribed in the control values by approximately of the allowable and design values, and by safety factors. As a result, it is desirable to revise 70, 90, and 100 percent of LEVEL I, II, and III, respectively. The horizontal displacement values of the allowable and design values approximations should change to 104, 133, and 148 percent of the allowable and design values, respectively. In addition, modifying the horizontal displacement control value of the braced excavation walls is not needed. The horizontal displacement value, presented in the control value as a safety factor, is now 1.19, as it has a slight difference from the present value.
