In this study, the investigation of hydraulic characteristics and the pier data for the rivers in Youngseo area of Gangwon Province was carried out and the evaluation and comparison between the values from existing formulas and the values from the model tests was conducted, along with the statistical sensitivity analysis of the elements influencing the scour. As a result, the deviation between the values calculated from the existing formulas and the model tests appeared to be 1.09%~63.98% as the piers were getting larger, which indicated that the existing formulas were not appropriate to estimate the scour in the rivers in Gangwon area. And the formula which estimates the scour with the size of the pier only, among the existing ones, was far behind in estimating the sensitivity because of insufficient incorporation of the hydraulic characteristics, though it is convenient to estimate the value. The sensitivity analysis of the value from the model tests and the depth of the scour proved the significant impact on scour by the size of the pier and water depth, indicating 64% and 36%, respectively. In this study, the formula developed through the regression analysis performed based on the values from the model tests, which appeared to be appropriate for the rivers in Gangwon Province, was proposed.
The permeate flux decline due to membrane fouling can be addressed using a variety of theoretical stand-points. Judicious selection of an appropriate theory is a key toward successful prediction of the permeate flux. The essential criterion f3r such a decision appears to be a detailed characterization of the feed solution and membrane properties. Modem theories are capable of accurately predicting several properties of colloidal systems that are important in membrane separation processes from fundamental information pertaining to the particle size, charge, and solution ionic strength. Based on such information, it is relatively straight-forward to determine the properties of the concentrated colloidal dispersion in a polarized layer or the cake layer properties. Incorporation of such information in the framework of the standard theories of membrane filtration, namely, the convective diffusion equation coupled with an appropriate permeate transport model, can lead to reasonably accurate prediction of the permeate flux due to colloidal fouling. The schematic of the essential approach has been delineated in Figure 5. The modern approaches based on appropriate cell models appear to predict the permeate flux behavior in crossflow membrane filtration processes quite accurately without invoking novel theoretical descriptions of particle back transport mechanisms or depending on adjust-able parameters. Such agreements have been observed for a wide range of particle size ranging from small proteins like BSA (diameter ${\~}$6 nm) to latex suspensions (diameter ${\~}1\;{\mu}m$). There we, however, several areas that need further exploration. Some of these include: 1) A clear mechanistic description of the cake formation mechanisms that clearly identifies the disorder to order transition point in different colloidal systems. 2) Determining the structure of a cake layer based on the interparticle and hydrodynamic interactions instead of assuming a fixed geometrical structure on the basis of cell models. 3) Performing well controlled experiments where the cake deposition mechanism can be observed for small colloidal particles (< $1\;{\mu}m$). 4) A clear mechanistic description of the critical operating conditions (for instance, critical pressure) which can minimize the propensity of colloidal membrane fluting. 5) Developing theoretical approaches to account for polydisperse systems that can render the models capable of handing realistic feed solutions typically encountered in diverse applications of membrane filtration.
Authors investigated the size distribution and mass fraction of dusts in work environment of Changwon industrial complex. Size distribution of suspended dusts in welding and grinding processes were evaluated using ambient cascade impactors. The mass median diameters of dusts were 0.25 to $0.60 \mu m$ at welding sites and 1.20 to $1.92 \mu m$ at grinding sites. Respirable mass fractions were 63.68 to 73.50% at welding sites and 43.24 to 51.47% at grinding sites. Respirable fractions were calculated from the size distribution data for the ACGIH criteria by the respirable particle mass. In case of dust removal system, electrostatic precipitator and bag filter were appropriate for welding process and grinding process, respectively.
In the present study, naturally generated bubbles were investigated to be sure if they could be adopted as the tracer for PIV techniques. The bubble can be grown from the nuclei melted in the water of tunnel and the size of bubbles is changed through the variation of tunnel pressure. Since the trace ability and appropriate size of tracer are so important for PIV techniques, the characteristics of bubbles as tracer are revealed in terms of trace ability and bubble size with the variation of flow speed and tunnel pressure in this study. In addition, PIV measurements of (low behind a rotating propeller are conducted to confirm the trace ability of bubbles even in a highly vortical flow.
This paper is presented for robot vacuum cleaners using BLDC motors. Recently, BLDC motors which require smaller size, lower sound noise and higher efficiency have been placed in high value-added products including robot vacuum cleaners, vehicle cars and other industry applications. The DC motors have higher sound noise, higher height of the size and lower efficiency due to electro-magnetic structure using the brushes and the commutators. The proposed BLDC motors are appropriate for the motors adequate in regards to higher efficiency, longer life cycle time, and smaller height of the size when robot vacuum cleaners go to some lower height of the space like under sleeping beds and because it's power source is batteries. The paper shows the performance of the BLDC motors designed by the Finite Element Analysis(FEA) of the electro-magnetic field. This paper shows the mechanical structure and the prototype of the motor with the impeller. The performance characteristics of the BLDC motors with the hall sensor controller are verified by the experimental results.
For the overdetermined linear system, when both the data matrix and the observed data are contaminated by noise, Total Least Squares method is an appropriate approach. Since an ill-conditioned data matrix with noise causes a large perturbation in the solution, some kind of regularization technique is required to filter out such noise. In this paper, we consider a Dual regularized Total Least Squares problem. Unlike the Tikhonov regularization which constrains the size of the solution, a Dual regularized Total Least Squares problem considers two constraints; one constrains the size of the error in the data matrix, the other constrains the size of the error in the observed data. Our method derives two nonlinear equations to construct the iterative method. However, since the Jacobian matrix of two nonlinear equations is not guaranteed to be nonsingular, we adopt a trust-region based iteration method to obtain the solution.

We take genomic sequences of high-dimensional low sample size (HDLSS) without ordering of response categories into account. When constructing an appropriate test statistics in this model, the classical multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) approach might not be useful owing to very large number of parameters and very small sample size. For these reasons, we present a pseudo marginal model based upon the Gini-Simpson index estimated via Bayesian approach. In view of small sample size, we consider the permutation distribution by every possible n! (equally likely) permutation of the joined sample observations across G groups of (sizes $n_1,{\ldots}n_G$). We simulate data and apply false discovery rate (FDR) and positive false discovery rate (pFDR) with associated proposed test statistics to the data. And we also analyze real SARS data and compute FDR and pFDR. FDR and pFDR procedure along with the associated test statistics for each gene control the FDR and pFDR respectively at any level ${\alpha}$ for the set of p-values by using the exact conditional permutation theory.
