  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of acute listening to music on the cardiovascular reactivity to sympathoexcitation. In this crossover design study, 15 healthy adults(23.1±1.94(yrs) were randomized to either (1)acute listen to the subject's preferred music for 30 minutes and (2)sat as a time control by an experiment coordinator. After completing each trial, the cold pressor test(CPT) was conducted. Heart rate(HR) and blood pressure(BP) were measured for 4 times at baseline, during and after the CPT. Heart rate variability(HRV) were measured for 3 times at baseline, prior and after the CPT. HR and BP increased during the CPT in both trial and returned to baseline after CPT(time effect, p < .001). After CPT, brachial systolic BP reactivity to the CPT was attenuated in listening to music trial compared to control trial(p = . 008). As a result of heart rate variability(HRV), the difference values between the baseline and prior to the CPT showed a significant increase in standard deviation of the NN intervals(SDNN), total power(TP) and high frequency(HF) only in the music trial (p = .001, p = .002, p = .011). The difference value between prior to and after the CPT did not show significance. But compared with the control trial, the music trial was confirmed that SDNN, TP and HF were more activated. Therefore, listening to music alleviated anxiety and tension before the CPT, and it is estimated that it had a favorable effect on stability after the CPT. This findings showed that listening to music may have a positive effect on brachial systolic BP and HRV to sympathoexcitation.

  • Cerebral palsy is a collection of motor disorders resulting from damage to the central nervous system that arise in multiple handicaps including cognitive disorders, speech disorders, epilepsy, perception disorders, and emotion disorders. Today spastic cerebral palsy has become more prevalent because intensive care for newborns has resulted in higher survival rates for very small premature babies. Since the children grow the fastest in order for a development during one year after birth, the therapeutic intervention is provided as early as possible to the children with cerebral palsy. After seven year old, there is no effect of intervention. So, the necessity of early intervention to spastic cerebral palsied infants is increasing. The purpose of this study is to develop the music therapy activity program using the techniques of neurological music therapy(NMT), the therapeutic application of music to dysfunctions due to neurologic disease of the human nervous system, for rudimentary movement phase of spastic cerebral palsied infant. This music therapy activity program was developed on the basis of the major developmental tasks of the rudimentary movement phase, the period that children can acquire the most basic movement function at the 0 to 2. Then the developmental characteristics of spastic cerebral palsy were applied to this music therapy activity program. This music therapy activity program was classified to three domains, those are stability, locomotion, and manipulation. This study has been consisted of three steps, those are the development of the activities, the evaluation of the activities by th panels, and the adjustment and complement of the activities. Reviewing literatures and interviews were done for the development of the activities, and the evaluation the activities was done by seven music therapists. In the evaluation steps, the questionnaire was used for estimating the content validity and application efficiency. The adjustment and complement of the activities were evaluated by the panels who were participating in the music therapy for cerebral palsied children in the clinical setting, and the results of the adjustment and complement were confirmed by the panels. The evaluation was presented in a mean value with the comment of the panels. In conclusion, the music therapy activity program for the spastic cerebral palsied infants using the techniques of NMT was developed on the basis of the major developmental tasks of the rudimentary movement phase. The program is comprised of 38 activities, those are 14 activities for developing the stability, 10 activities for developing the locomotion, and 14 activities for developing the manipulation. The programed activities would bring out the answers in the affirmative for the conformance with infants' development phase, the harmony between the objective and the activity, the conformance with the cerebral palsied infants, the properness of the music and the instruments, and the utility in the clinic field. This results mean that this developed music activity program is appropriate to help spastic cerebral palsied infants progress their movement development by stages.

  • From the year 2000, an ironic phenomenon struck the Korean pop field with a number of male vocalists singing with similar voice tone colors and with almost the same vocal techniques. People called it "So-mo-ri", and this technique caught on with the public during that period of time. In the early 80s, plenty of vocalists tried to imitate Cho Yong-phil's singing method after his hit song 'Lady outside the window'. However, producing and releasing albums with the same singing method had never been done in history. In this study, I would like to analyse and conclude what the "So-mo-ri" technique was and how this technique began. I would further like to research the vocalization methods that were used.

  • Game and Animation are considered as two different fields. The definition of animation is "moving picture" and game is a kind of animation which can be controlled by users. Actually, many principles of animation are applied to the production of games, and are even more emphasized in the mobile game contents which are becoming popular these days because of the characteristics of mobile devices such as small screen size. In this paper, we study on the application of the 12 principles of animation through the making of a mobile 3D game called "Fly to the music" and that game is going to be serviced in late 2006 by SK Telecom. Moreover, we studied the differences between 3d mobile game animation and ordinary animation.

  • In this paper, we propose a high accurate geo-location system based on a single base station, where its location is obtained by Time-of-Arrival(ToA) and Direction-of-Arrival(DoA) of the radio signal. For estimating accurate ToA and DoA information, a MUltiple SIgnal Classification(MUSIC) is adopted. However, the estimation of ToA and DoA using MUSIC algorithm is a time-consuming process. The position tracking bias is occurred by the time delay caused by the estimation process. In order to mitigate the bias error, we propose the estimation method of the position tracking bias and compensate the location error produced by the time delay using the position tracking bias mitigation. For accurate self-localization of mobile robot, the Unscented Kalman Filter(UKF) with position tracking bias is applied. The simulation results show the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed geo-location system and the enhanced performance when the Unscented Kalman Filter is adopted for mobile robot application.

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of respiratory rehabilitation using a wind instrument for patients suffering from spinal cord injuries. From January 15, 2018 to April 15, 2018, we conducted ten 1-hour sessions of a harmonica program with eight patients with spinal cord injuries with average age of 37 years who could not perform abdominal breathing by themselves. We measured and compared patients' breathing capacity before and after the 10 sessions. Designed particularly for patients with spinal cord injuries resulting in a limited range of neck movement, the study used a 10-hole diatonic harmonica whose length was relatively short. For those patients who had difficulty using their hands, a harmonica holder was provided. Participants were trained to play simple tunes. They were guided to use abdominal breathing to make sounds, with emphasis on those parts requiring long and strong breathing. The results showed that for all eight patients both their breathing volume and their inspiratory volume increased following participation in the harmonica program. Also, the program had psychological benefits (e.g., more life satisfaction and less sadness) and additional physical benefits (e.g., less dizziness due to low blood pressure and better phlegm spitting). This study offers a unique way to help patients with spinal cord injuries to improve their breathing capacity, which may also be associated with a greater quality of life.

  • This study analysed motion graphic formative image composition of TV LED backdrop to be used as background display for performers such as singers appeared on TV music show. Motion graphic LED images are comprised of various plane figures, and backdrop's design function as background screen has a goal to convey synesthesia and sensibility of visual elements. And this analyse classified sensibility concept about color, motion direction and speed to be elements of transmitting sensibility. As the analyse of graphic form among transmitting sensibility elements, this classified form type into its' applied elements, and studied how these elements' motion pattern and arrangement could be placed and replaced at song's four step composition, intro, verse, bridge, chorus part, and also characterized differences of backdrop design for male and female performers. As a case study, it included terrestial broadcasting TV song ranking shows targeted at teenagers. Because they carried out various motion design utilizations. Finally, this reasoned out mainly designing form type, its' applied elements, motion pattern and its' arrangements type division according to the song developing four steps.
