  • Recently, a variety of GML application schemas have been designed in many fields. GML application schemas are specific to the application domain of interest and specify object types using primitive object types defined in the GML standard. GML instance documents are created based on such GML application schemas. The GML instance documents generally require large volumes to represent huge amounts of geographic objects. Thus, it is essential to store such GML instance documents in relational database for efficient management and use. Relational database is relatively convenient to use and is widely applied in various fields. Furthermore, it is fundamentally more efficient than file structure to handle large datasets. Many researches on storing GML documents have been carried out so far. However, there are few studies on storage of GML instance documents. Therefore, in this study, we developed the storage module to store the GML instance documents in relational database.

  • Visible Light Communication, which is promising as a next generation near field wireless communications, has been increased study and application case due to the development of LED technology. However, there are few application cases to IoT service due to the necessity of separate equipment for communication and limitation of light transmission to obstacles. In this paper, it propose a portable VLC transceiver module that can be connected to USB OTG and dedicated application for control to realization position possible necessary technique. The string input from the dedicated application is sent to the VLC module via USB OTG to transmit and receive data between the modules. As string transmission experiment result, it is confirmed that ASCII code transmission between VLC transceiver modules is possible through control of the implemented dedicated application.

  • Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model have been widely used in simulating hydrology and water quality analysis at watershed scale. The SWAT model extracts topographic feature using the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for hydrology and pollutant generation and transportation within watershed. Use of various DEM cell size in the SWAT leads to different results in extracting topographic feature for each subwatershed. So, it is recommended that model users use very detailed spatial resolution DEM for accurate hydrology analysis and water quality simulation. However, use of high resolution DEM is sometimes difficult to obtain and not efficient because of computer processing capacity and model execution time. Thus, the SWAT Topographic Feature Extraction Error (STOPFEE) Fix module, which can extract topographic feature of high resolution DEM from low resolution and updates SWAT topographic feature automatically, was developed and evaluated in this study. The analysis of average slope vs. DEM cell size revealed that average slope of watershed increases with decrease in DEM cell size, finer resolution of DEM. This falsification of topographic feature with low resolution DEM affects soil erosion and sediment behaviors in the watershed. The annual average sediment for Soyanggang-dam watershed with DEM cell size of 20 m was compared with DEM cell size of 100 m. There was 83.8% difference in simulated sediment without STOPFEE module and 4.4% difference with STOPFEE module applied although the same model input data were used in SWAT run. For Imha-dam watershed, there was 43.4% differences without STOPFEE module and 0.3% difference with STOPFEE module. Thus, the STOPFEE topographic database for Soyanggang-dam watershed was applied for Chungju-dam watershed because its topographic features are similar to Soyanggang-dam watershed. Without the STOPFEE module, there was 98.7% difference in simulated sediment for Chungju-dam watershed for DEM cell size of both 20 m and 100 m. However there was 20.7% difference in simulated sediment with STOPFEE topographic database for Soyanggang-dam watershed. The application results of STOPFEE for three watersheds showed that the STOPFEE module developed in this study is an effective tool to extract topographic feature of high resolution DEM from low resolution DEM. With the STOPFEE module, low-capacity computer can be also used for accurate hydrology and sediment modeling for bigger size watershed with the SWAT. It is deemed that the STOPFEE module database needs to be extended for various watersheds in Korea for wide application and accurate SWAT runs with lower resolution DEM.

As results, screen configuration, communication display edition, audiovisual output, and switch and scanning modules were defined. Screen configuration module consists of communication category, spelling board, favorites, screen lock, and setting function. The Communication display edition module includes communication categories, symbols, and favorites edition. The audiovisual output module provides the ability to adjust the pitch, intensity, speed, and tone of the voice individually in the form of auditory output. In the form of visual output, the background color and size of the frame, border color and thickness are adjusted. The switch and scanning module provides a function to select by pressing the switch when the symbol cell is highlighted audibly and visually. The development of the AAC application designed in this study is needed.

  • Severe sediment-laden problem has been the hot issue in Korea. It was assumed that agricultural activities and landslides were the primary causes of these problems in watersheds. The USLE-based systems have been widely used in soil erosion studies. However the GIS-based USLE modeling system has limitation in USLE L factors. In this study, the SATEEC L module was developed to reflect the slope length segmentations in the fields. The SATEEC L module was applied to the study watershed to analyze the effects of using the SATEEC L module on estimated sediment. As shown in the comparisons between SATEEC estimated sediment with SWAT values, the SATEEC GA-SDR module derives the SDR with reasonably acceptable accuracies. However, it is worthy to note that the soil erosion using the SATEEC L module for the study watershed was lower than that without using the SATEEC L module by 25%, although the SATEEC estimated sediment values with and without using L module match the SWAT sediment values with similar accuracies. This is because the SATEEC GA-SDR module estimates lower SDR in case of greater soil erosion estimation without the L module and greater SDR in case of lower soil erosion estimation with the L module. This indicates that the SATEEC input parameters, especially L factor, need to be prepared with care for accurate estimation of SDR at a watershed scale and for accurate evaluation of BMPs in the watershed.

  • Nowadays the bifacial PV system market and its applications are increasing rapidly. The performance of the bifacial PV system take advantage of its rear surface irradiance. Also, the ground albedo, PV module tilt and azimuth, PV module installation height, shading effect and module temperature are factors of bifacial PV system performance. This paper investigates how the performance of bifacial PV system is influenced by above factors. First, we analyzed the energy yield depending on PV module installation by simulation. Secondly, we compare energy performance evaluation of monofacial and bifacial module on different weather condition by experiment. Thirdly, we tested the albedo effect and checked operating characteristics using Dupont Tyvek material for the bifacial PV module. Fourthly, we check the shading effect of bifacial PV module on bypass diode operating. Finally, we applied the bifacial PV module in the nearby subway station for the noise reduction barrier using a qualified simulation program. In summary, we confirm that the energy performance superiority of the bifacial PV module has a lot of application use including road. Also, we have confirmed the bifacial module and inverter design should be considered by rear surface irradiance.
