1. Based upon an fertilizer experiment done in a farmer's field, with a medium maturity variety, Jinheung, (in 1969) a method of determination of nitrogen to be additionally given, at tillering and reproductive stages was studied. In this experiment, four kilograms of nitrogen per 0.1 ha was applied as basal dressing to all experimental treatments at transplanting time. 2. The application of nitrogen at the reproductive stage of paddy increased the yield remarkably and cut down the amount of nitrogen to be given at the tillering stage. The yield of paddy, 670kg/0.1 ha obtained by the application of 6.82kg N/0.1 ha at the reproductive stage far exceeded the yield, 644kg/0.1ha obtained when over 8kg N/0.1ha of N is applied at tillering stage alone. This emphasizes the importance of nitrogen top dressing at the reproductive stage. 3. As the amount of nitrogen to be given at both stages, reproductive and tillering, would be the reflection of soil fertility of the field, a correlative study between the amount of nitrogen to be given at both stages and soil analysis is suggested to be undertaken. 4. A study on the relationship between the amount of fertilizer to be given at stages different growth and yield components is suggested to be undertaken for the purpose of establishing a better fertilizer use technique.
This paper discusses the design parameters that are required for the design of high-rise building foundations, and suggests that the method of assessment for these parameters should be consistent with the level of complexity involved for various stages in the design process. Requirements for effective ground investigation are discussed, together with relevant in-situ and laboratory test techniques for deriving the necessary strength and stiffness parameters. Some empirical correlations are also presented to assist in the early stages of design, and to act as a check for parameters that are deduced from more detailed testing. Pile load testing is then discussed and a method of interpreting bi-directional tests to obtain pile design parameters is outlined. Examples of the application of the assessment process are described, including high-rise projects in Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
For the conveyor tracking application of a robot manipulator, a new control scheme is presented. The presented scheme is divided into two stages : the upper one is the motion planning stage and the lower one is the motion control stage. In the upper stage, the nominal trajectory which tracks the part moving in a constant velocity, is planned considering the robot arm dynamics. On the other hand, in the lower level, the perturbed trajectory is generated to track the variation in the velocity of conveyor belt via sensory feedback and the perturbed arm dynamics. In both stages, the conveyor tracking problem is formulated as an optimal tracking problem, and the torque constraints of a robot manipulator are taken into account. Simulation results are then presented and discussed.
In this study, dynamic characteristics such as natural frequencies, mode shapes and damping ratios of RC frame is determined for different construction stages using Operational Modal Analyses method under ambient vibration. Full scaled, one bay and one story RC frames are selected as an application for different construction stages such as plane, brick in-filled and brick in-filled with plaster. The RC frame is vibrated by natural excitations with small impact effects and the response signals are measured using sensitive accelerometers during ambient vibration tests. Measurement time-frequency span and effective mode number are determined by considering similar studies in literature. Sensitive seismic accelerometers are used to collect signals obtained from the experimental tests. To obtain experimental dynamic characteristics, output-only system identification technique is employed namely; Enhanced Frequency Domain Decomposition technique in the frequency domain. It is demonstrated that the ambient vibration measurements are enough to identify the most significant modes of RC frames.

A new high efficiency zero-voltage and zero-current switching (ZVZCS) bidirectional DC/DC converter is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter consists of two symmetric half-bridge cells as the input and output stages. MOSFETs of input stage are turned-on in ZVS condition, and those of output stage are turned-off in ZCS condition. In addition, MOSFETs of input and output stages have low voltage stresses clamped to input and output voltage, respectively. Therefore, the proposed converter has high efficiency and high power density. The operational principles are analyzed and the advantages of the proposed converter are described. The 300W prototype of the proposed converter is implemented for 42V hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) application in order to verify the operational principles and advantages.

A new hydrocode which is still under development using Lagrangian, Eulerian and arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian operators, has been described. The three operators are implemented into a single framework by incorporating the sequential three stages of Lagrangian, remesh and remap stages. Several numerical schemes used for each operator are discussed briefly in this paper. In order to evaluate the characteristics of each operator, the Taylor Impact Test has been simulated using each operator and the results are compared. Currently the code is 1st order accuracy in the material interface tracking algorithm and can not handle multimaterial in the mixed cell. The areas of possible enhancement of the code are also discussed.

The knowledge management was considered as the inevitable result of the rule of knowledge in this era, and its importance became clear in being the main source for achieving success, the need to consider and manage knowledge as an independent field that must be addressed with a clear scientific methodology has become intangible - they are very valuable and a strategic asset. On the other hand, the innovation process relates to all parts of the organization, and helps to improve the behavioral patterns of individuals and their attitudes towards adopting modern and innovative ideas, it is a purposeful process adopted by the senior management and works to provide the capabilities and requirements for embodying the innovative behavior in it. In the field of dealing with the market, it is a product of the organization's innovative approach, which aims at advancement, change, and intended and organized renewal. The main objective of this article is to determine the most appropriate ways to integrate knowledge management mechanisms to employ innovation factors within universities based on the role of universities in supporting innovation. This was achieved through reviewing many relevant research and listing the most prominent concepts of knowledge management, its importance, objectives, and processes determining the stages of knowledge management application, the requirements for applying knowledge management, and the obstacles that impede its application; Then the statement "Innovation in universities, through which it addressed the concept of innovation, its importance, stages, and requirements for its application, as well as identifying the most prominent models of innovation, and obstacles to innovation, in addition to that the role of universities in supporting innovation will be identified. From the surveyed study done in this article, we concluded that the relationship among organizational culture, knowledge management and innovation capability can provide useful insights for managers regarding developing a strong culture, promote knowledge management practices effectively and eventually enhance the whole organization's innovation capability. Also, we found that different components of Knowledge Management as Knowledge activities, Knowledge types, transformation of knowledge and technology have a significant positive effect in bringing innovation through transformation of knowledge into knowledge assets in universities.

The aim of this study concerns with the construction stage analysis of highway bridges constructed with balanced cantilever method using time dependent material properties. K$\ddot{o}$m$\ddot{u}$rhan Highway Bridge constructed with balanced cantilever method and located on the 51st km of Elazi$\check{g}$-Malatya, Turkey, highway over Firat River is selected as an application. Finite element models of the bridge are modelled using SAP2000 program. Geometric nonlinearity is taken into consideration in the analysis using P-Delta plus large displacement criterion. The time dependent material strength variations and geometric variations are included in the analysis. Elasticity modulus, creep and shrinkage are computed for different stages of the construction process. The structural behaviour of the bridge at different construction stages has been examined. Two different finite element analyses with and without construction stages are carried out and results are compared with each other. As analyses result, variation of internal forces such as bending moment, axial forces and shear forces for bridge deck and column are given with detail. It is seen that construction stage analysis has remarkable effect on the structural behaviour of the bridge.

The purpose of this is to investigate the effects of vitrification in open pulled straws (OPS) on in vitro survival of porcine embryos. Blastocysts were produced by in vitro fertilization of slaughterhouse-derived, in vitro matured oocytes with frozen-thawed boar semen, and subsequent culture on granulosa cell monolayer. After frozen-thawing, embryos were culture in NCSU-23 medium with 5 mM hypotaurine, 4 mg/$m\ell$ BSA and 10 ng/$m\ell$ for 48 hrs to survival tests. When blastocysts were frozen-thawed by OPS methods, the embryos with normal morphology were 32.1, 34.5 and 38.9 % in early blastocyst, blastocyst and expanded blastocyat stages. The rates of partial damaged embryos were significantly (P<0.05) higher in early biastocysts than expanded blastocysts. In another experiment, the embryos frozen by OPS methods were cultured for 48 hrs for survival and developmental rates in vitro. The proportions of embryos hatched were 11.8, 20.2 and 33.3% in embryos frozen-thawed at stages of early blastocyst, blastocyst and expanded embryos. On the other hand, The proportions of embryo with normal morphology after culture were 23.5, 25.0 and 33.3% in embryos frozen-thawed at stages of early blastocyst, blastocyst and expanded embryos. These finding indicate the possible broader application for OPS methods that this procedure described is relatively harmless, that it can be used for blastocysts of different developmental stages.

Recently the electrostatic 2-axis MEMS stages have been fabricated for the purpose of an application to PSD (Probebased Storage Device). However, most of them have low area efficiency, which is undesirable as data storage devices, since all of the components (springs, comb electrodes, anchors, platform, etc.) are placed in-plane. In this paper, we present a novel structure of electrostatic 2-axis MEMS stage that is characterized by having large area platform. For large area efficiency, the actuator part consisting of mainly comb electrodes and springs is placed right below the platform. In this article, the structures and operational principle of the MEMS stages are described, followed by design procedure, structural and modal analysis using FEM(Finite Element Method). The area efficiency of the MEMS stage was designed to be about 55%, that is very large compared with conventional ones having a few percentage.
