Control flow errors are caused by the vulnerability of memory and result in system failure. Signature-based control flow monitoring is a representative method for alleviating the problem. The method commonly consists of two routines; one routine is signature update and the other is signature verification. However, in the existing signature-based control flow monitoring, monitoring target application is tightly combined with the monitoring code, and the operation of monitoring in a single thread is the basic model. This makes the signature-based monitoring method difficult to expect performance improvement that can be taken in multi-thread and multi-core environments. In this paper, we propose a new signature-based control flow monitoring model that separates signature update and signature verification in thread level. The signature update is combined with application thread and signature verification runs on a separate monitor thread. In the proposed model, the application thread and the monitor thread are separated from each other, so that we can expect a performance improvement that can be taken in a multi-core and multi-thread environment.
GPS Navigation Solutions are used for operational orbit determination for the KOMPSAT-1 spacecraft. GPS point position data are definitely affected by systematic errors as well as noise. Indeed, the systematic error effects tend to be longer term since the GPS spacecrafts have periods of 12 hours. And then, the overlap method of determining orbit accuracy is always optimistic because of the presence of systematic errors with longer term effects. In this paper, we investigated the measurement noise and the system error for the KOMPSAT-l GPS Navigation Solutions. To assess orbit accuracy with this type of data, we use longer data arcs such as 5-7 days instead of 30 hour data arc. For this assessment, we should require much more attention to drag and solar radiation drag parameters or even general acceleration parameters in order to assess orbit accuracy with longer data arcs. Thus, the effects of the consideration of the drag, solar radiation drag, and general acceleration parameters were also investigated.
This paper shows the development process of a straight-type five-hole pressure probe for measuring three-dimensional flow velocity components. The data reduction method using a bi-cubic curve-fitting program in a new calibration map was introduced in this study. This new calibration map can be applied up to the application angle, ${\pm}55^{\circ}$ of a probe. As a result, for the application angle of ${\pm}45^{\circ}$, an error for yaw and pitch angles appeared from $-1.76^{\circ}\;to\;1.83^{\circ}$ and from $-1.91^{\circ}\;to\;1.75^{\circ}$, respectively. Moreover, an error for a vector magnitude and a static pressure compared with a dynamic one showed from -7.83% to 4.87% and from -0.73 to 0.77, respectively. Even though this data reduction method showed unsatisfactory errors in a vector magnitude, it resulted in an easy and simple application method. Especially, when it was applied to an actual flow field including a swirling flow, a good result came out on the whole. However, in order to obtain a better result, it is thought that a more sophisticated interpolation method needs to be introduced.
The accuracy of the target localization was evaluated by conventional and spiral CT in stereotactic radiosurgerv. Conventional and spiral CT images were obtained with geometrical phantom, which was designed to produce exact three-dimensional coordinates of several objects within 0.1mm error range. Geometrical phantom was attached by BRW headframe, intermediate head ring, and CT localizer. Twentv-seven slices of conventional CT image were scanned at 3 mm slice thickness. Spiral CT images were scanned at 3 mm slice thickness from the pitch value 1 to 3, and twenty-seven slices of image were obtained per each the pitch value. These CT images were transferred to a treatment planning system(X-knife, Radionics) by ethernet, Three-dimensional coordinates of these images measured from the treatment planning system were compared to known values of geometrical phantom. The mean localization error of the target localization of conventional CT was 1.4mm. In case of spiral CT, the error of the target localization was within 1.6mm from the pitch value 1 to 1.3, but was more than 30mm above the pitch value 1.5. In conclusion, as the localization error of spiral CT was increased in high pitch value compared to conventional CT, the application of spiral CT will be with caution in stereotactic radiosurgery.
Recent increasing demand on the indoor localization requires more advanced and hybrid technology. This paper proposes an application of the hybrid indoor localization method based on a position-coded pattern that can be used with other existing indoor localization techniques such as vision, beacon, or landmark technique. To reduce the pattern-recognition error rate, the error detection and correction algorithm was applied based on Hamming code. The indoor localization experiments based on the proposed algorithm were performed by using a QCIF-grade CMOS sensor and a position-coded pattern with an area of $1.7{\times}1.7mm^2$. The experiments have shown that the position recognition error ratio was less than 0.9 % with 0.4 mm localization accuracy. The results suggest that the proposed method could be feasibly applied for the localization of the indoor mobile service robots.

Living cells generate the cell cycle or apoptosis, depending on the course will be repeated. If an error occurs during this period of life in order to maintain the cells in the peripheral cells find the error portion. These cellular functions were applied to the system to simulate the circuit. Circuit implementation of the present study was constructed the redundant structure in order to found the error quickly. Self-repairing of digital systems as an advanced form of fault-tolerance has been increasingly receiving attention according as digital systems have been more and more complex and speed-up especially for urgent systems or those working on extreme environments such as deep sea and outer space. Simulating the process of cell differentiation algorithm was confirmed by the FPGA on the counter circuit. If an error occurs on the circuit where the error was quickly locate and repair. In this paper, we propose a novel self-repair architecture for fast and robust fault-recovery that can easily apply to real, complex digital systems. These Self-Repairing Algorithms make it possible for the application digital systems to be alive even though in very noisy and extreme environments.

Detecting grammatical errors from a text is a long-history application. In this paper, we compare the performance of two grammatical error detection techniques, which are implemented as a sub-module of an automated English scoring system. One is to use a full syntactic parser, which has not only grammatical rules but also extra-grammatical rules in order to detect syntactic errors while paring. The other one is to use a finite state machine which can identify an error covering a small range of an input. In order to compare the two approaches, grammatical errors are divided into three parts; the first one is grammatical error that can be handled by both approaches, and the second one is errors that can be handled by only a full parser, and the last one is errors that can be done only in a finite state machine. By doing this, we can figure out the strength and the weakness of each approach. The evaluation results show that a full parsing approach can detect more errors than a finite state machine can, while the accuracy of the former is lower than that of the latter. We can conclude that a full parser is suitable for detecting grammatical errors with a long distance dependency, whereas a finite state machine works well on sentences with multiple grammatical errors.

A new approach for spacecraft absolute attitude estimation based on the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) is extended to relative attitude estimation and navigation. This approach for nonlinear systems has faster convergence than the approach based on the standard extended Kalman filter (EKF) even with inaccurate initial conditions in attitude estimation and navigation problems. The filter formulation employs measurements obtained from a vision sensor to provide multiple line(-) of(-) sight vectors from the spacecraft to another spacecraft. The line-of-sight measurements are coupled with gyro measurements and dynamic models in an UKF to determine relative attitude, position and gyro biases. A vector of generalized Rodrigues parameters is used to represent the local error-quaternion between two spacecraft. A multiplicative quaternion-error approach is derived from the local error-quaternion, which guarantees the maintenance of quaternion unit constraint in the filter. The scenario for bounded relative motion is selected to verify this extended application of the UKF. Simulation results show that the UKF is more robust than the EKF under realistic initial attitude and navigation error conditions.
This paper deals with the development of h-version adaptive mesh refinement and recovery strategy using variable-node elements and its application to various engineering field problems with 2D quadrilateral and 3D hexahedral models. The variable-node elements which have variable mid-side nodes on edges or faces are effectively used in overcoming some problems in connecting the different layer patterns of the transition zone between the refined and coarse mesh. A modified recovery technique of gradients adequate for variable-node elements and proper selection of error norms for each engineering field problems are proposed. In the region in which the error is greater than the permissible refinement error, the mesh is locally refined by subdivision. Reversely, in some parts of the domain having the error smaller than the permissible recovery error, the mesh is locally recovered (coarsened) by combination. Hierarchical structures (e.g. quadtrees and octrees) and element-based storage structures are composed to perform this adaptive process of refinement and recovery. Some numerical examples of a 3D heat conduction analysis of the concrete with hydration heat and a 2D flow analysis of vortex shedding show effectiveness and validity of the proposed scheme.
