A Study on Parts Manufacturer Approval in Civil Aviation Law (항공기 부품제작자증명에 관한 연구)

  • Certification by Civil Aviation Law is necessary for aircraft parts and appliances as well as aircraft, engines, and propellers to ensure safety and reliability in operation. Advanced countries in aerospace industry as like U.S.A require Parts Manufacturer Approval for aircraft parts and Technical Standard Order Authorization for designated appliances. However, there are no legal requirements for certification of aircraft parts and appliances in Korea until now. This study presents the draft to revise Civil Aviation Law, which is applicable to set up domestic certification system and maintain it equivalent to U.S. Federal Aviation Regulation.

Evaluation of communication reliability of a test-bed networked to the home appliances with PLC modems for the Internet accessed home automation

  • This paper presents a systematic method of probing channel characteristics and communication reliabilities of home power line communication network applied to the Internet accessed control of home appliances. The effects of the three performance deteriorating factors, i.e., additive noise, channel attenuation, and intersymbol interference, can be systematically measured by applying the channel probing waveform in the frequency range from 100㎑ to 450㎑. Probability of bit error is derived with the probed channel parameters of the signal attenuation, noise and signal-to-interference ratio read in the frequency domain. The agreement between the derived probability of bit ewer and the measured probability of bit error support the validity of the proposed approach of probing home power line channel characteristics. The experimental results performed with the constructed test-bed applying the Proposed channel probing method and the operation reliability measurement of the overall networked system also support the feasibility of commercially deploying the PLC modem installed home appliances and their services for the Internet accessed home automation in densely populated residential apartment complexes.

  • In Smart Grid, smart meter sends our electric signal data to the main server of power supply in real-time. However, the more efficient the management of power loads become, the more likely the user's pattern of usage leaks. This paper points out the threat of privacy and the need of security measures in smart device environment by showing that it's possible to identify the appliances and the specific usage patterns of users from the smart meter's data. Learning algorithm PCA is used to reduce the dimension of the feature space and k-NN Classifier to infer appliances and states of them. Accuracy is validated with 10-fold Cross Validation.

  • Most of existing integrated remote controllers can control only a group of home appliances made by the same manufacturer. And they cannot monitor the status of home appliances since they are based on analog RF(Radio Frequency) signal and operate in a uni-directional manner In this paper, we propose a software framework for a hi-directional universal remote controller(URC) which monitors the status of home appliances in Wireless Personal Area Network(WPAN). The URC can handle the control and status messages which consist of a command with related arguments. When a user wants to control any home appliance, the URC can be dynamically configured to its dedicated remote controller by generating a GUI according to its profile. Any other devices which have a capacity for understanding the profile from the controlled devices can play the same role of the URC.

  • Intra-oral films of 155 patients were taken on the areas of Gold Crown-Bridges, S. P. Bridges and Partial Dentures. And the author observed periodontal ligaments widening rates, the presence of periapical lesions and the alveolar bone patterns on the Partial Denture Saddle portions. The results were as follows : 1. Periodontal ligaments a) Periodontal ligaments widening rate increased obviously with the duration of wearing those prosthetic appliances. b) Periodontal ligaments widening rate was the highest in partial denture wearing patients, and then that of S. P. Crown Bridge patients, Gold Crown Bridge wearing females, Gold Crown Bridge males were the sequences. 2. Periapical lesions a) Periapical lesions increased with the wearing duration of those prosthetic appliances. But they did not increase in proportion to the duration. Periapical lesions were about the same in the teeth with those appliances showing relatively higher rate in Partial Denture abutment teeth and the lowest in Gold-Bridge abutment teeth. 3. Alveolar bone of Partial Denture saddle portion One third of all(32%) were normal with their smooth and compact bone pattern so that they were considered to perform normal function.

  • In orthodontic field, although lots of new materials have been developed and many mechanics intro duced, we can face the case patient cooperation still remain a problem to solve. So, factors related to the compliance of 254 adolescent orthodontic patients using intraoral elastic or extraoral orthopedic appliances were under investigation. The study subjects were 11 to 18 years old and from 5 exclusive orthodontitc clinics in seoul. The subjects were asked to fill a questionnaire and compliances were evaluated by their assigned orthodontists. The questionnaire was consisted of 63 questions, and they represent 13 factors-7 psychological & 6 nonpsychological fators. The collected data were analyzed using ANOVA test between the compliance group and the factors. 1. The compliances were evenly distributed in both sex and age groups. 2. As a whole, it was found that the Attitude towards appliances ffactor affected the degree of compliance. 3. Besides that, in younger(11-12) age group, Pain and discomfort associated with treatment factor was also found to be related to the degree of compliance. 4. On the contrary, in older(16-18) age group, the degree of compliance was influenced by the factor of Achievement motivation, Role expectation, parental relationship.

  • The first permanent molar takes important place in the occlusion. Malposition of the lower first molar is frequently due to mesial migration, which is occurred by early exfoliation of the second deciduous molar or proximal caries of deciduous teeth. Above things happen without any consideration of space maintainer, prompt measures for space regaining have to be started. Especially in the case with early loss of the second deciduous molar, it has been said that there is no suitable appliance for maintaining the space before the eruption of the permanent first molar. In distalizing the upper first molar, headgears have been routinely used, which its result was definitely depended on cooperation of the patients. Nowadays, appliances such as pendulum appliances, K-loop, magnets, which can be used without cooperation of the patients, are introduced. Jones Jig, one of the molar distalizing appliances, was used on the patients who visited department of pediatric dentistry in Seoul National University Dental Hospital complaining of no eruption space for the lower second bicuspid. Either removable splint or lingal arch was used as the anchorage. Jones Jig was favorably used in the lower molar, where vestibule is shallow, and this is a case report on the satisfactory result thereof.

  • During recent years, various studies have demonstrated that indoor chemical pollution causes health problem and also negatively affect the performance of work by occupants. Building materials have been concerned as indoor chemical sources. Some of guidelines and certification system has been developed and resulted as dramatic decrease of harmful indoor chemicals such as formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds. Also, Home furniture and electrical devices has been concerned as one the primary influence the indoor chemical concentration in residential spaces. It is found that various kinds of electric home appliances have a significant source of chemical emission in indoor environments. In this study, the methodologies of detecting harmful chemicals from various kinds of products has been developed with large chamber measurement system and suggest some of the evaluation method for the chemicals from the home appliances as TV sets.

  • Internet of Things(IoT) is electronic devices and household appliances use wireless sensor network in environment of high speed wireless network and LTE mobile service. The combination of the development of Internet and wireless network led to development of new forms of service such as electronic devices and household appliances can connect to the Internet through various sensors and online servers such as a Home Network. Even though Internet of Things is useful, there are problems in Internet of Things. In environment of Internet of Things, information leakage could happens by illegal eavesdropping and spoofing. Also illegal devices of wireless communication interference can cause interfere in Internet of things service, physical damage and denial of service by modulation of data and sensor. In this thesis, it will analyze security threats and security vulnerability in environment of mobile services and smart household appliances, then it will suggest plan. To solve security issues, it is important that IT and RFID sensor related companies realize importance of security environment rather than focus on making profit. It is important to develop the standardized security model that applies to the Internet of Things by security-related packages, standard certification system and strong encrypted authentication.
