The prediction model is proposed to estimate the variation of compressive strength of fly ash concrete with aging. After analyzing the experimental result with the model, the regression results are presented according to fly ash replacement content and water/cement ratio. Based on the regression results, the influence of fly ash replacement content and water/cement ratio on apparent activation energy was investigated. According to the analysis, the model provides a good estimate of compressive strength development of fly ash concrete with aging. As the fly ash replacement content increases, the limiting relative compressive strength and initial apparent activation energy become greater. The concrete with water/cement ratio smaller than 0.40 shows that the limiting relative compressive strength and apparent activation energy are nearly constant according to water/cement ratio. But, the concrete with water/cement ratio greater than 0.40 has the increasing limiting relative compressive strength and apparent activation energy with increasing water/cement ratio.

To evaluate reinforced region of dike by cement grouting, we investigated both the electrical resistivity and the strength of cement grout having various water-cement ratio with curing time. These investigation results showed that the electric conductivity of grout is much higher than that of water and that the apparent resistivity of grouted region is much lower than that of unoccupied region by grout. It was founded that electrical resistivity survey might be quite effective to detect grout region in dike. As the results of electrical resistivity sounding at three dikes, apparent resistivities after grouting showed several tens to several hundreds of ohm-m which were lower than those of pre-grouting and showed stabilizing trend with curing time. From these results, we could estimate that this behavior of apparent resistivity is due to increasing strength with curing time.
This paper focuses on the engineering properties of Bentonite-Cement-Sodium silicate (BCS) grout, which was prepared by partially replacing the ordinary Portland cement in Cement-Sodium silicate grout with lithium bentonite (Li-bent) and sodium bentonite (Na-bent), respectively. The effect of different Water-to-Solid ratio (W/S) and various replacement percentages of bentonite on the apparent viscosity, bleeding, setting time, and early compressive strength of BCS grout were investigated. The XRD method was used to detect its hydration products. The results showed that both bentonites played a positive role in the stability of BCS grout, increased its apparent viscosity. Na-bent prolonged the setting time of BCS, while 5% of Li-bent shortened the setting time of BCS. The XRD analysis indicated that the hydration products between the mixture containing Na-bent and Li-bent did not differ much. Using bentonite as supplementary cementitious material (SCM) to replace partial cement is a promising way to cut down on carbon dioxide emissions and to produce low-cost, eco-friendly, non-toxic, and water-resistant grout. In addition, Li-bent was superior to Na-bent in improving the strength and the thickening of BCS grouts.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the adhesion in tension of polymer-modified mortars according to curing conditions. From the test results, the adhesion in tension is seriously affected by type of curing conditions compared with type of polymer dispersions or polymer-cement ratios. The maximum adhesion in tension of EVA-modified mortar with polymer-cement ratio of 20% cured by standard condition is about 1.81 times, the cement mortar cured in water. It is apparent that the adhesion in tension of polymer-modified mortars according to raising of polymer-cement ratio is also much more improved irrespective of type of polymer dispersions and curing conditions.

Bottom ash among the coal ash is not used because of its poor properties. But encouraging the use of bottom ash as a construction material is a sensible method of utilization as it avoids the problems and costs associated with disposal and provides an alternative aggregate source. This study was aimed at using bottom ash as an alternative fine aggregate source to provide a solution to disposal and insufficient fine aggregate for the production of concrete. So properties of domestic bottom ash were estimated due to the difference of each domestic bottom ash. And compressive strength and durability were estimated as basic data to use bottom ash in building industries. As a result of the experiment, the very porous surface and angular shape of the bottom ash particles necessitate a higher apparent water-cement ratio. And due to the higher water requirement, the compressive strength and durability of mortar is lower than those of the control samples. But when 25 percent of the total dry weight of the natural fine aggregate was replaced by bottom ash, the engineering characteristics were similar.
Apparent diffusion coefficients of Cl- ions through hardened cement pastes(HCP), which were partly subs¬tituted blast furnace slag, fly ash and silicafume for ordinary Portland cement, were determined. Also. Cl- and OW concentration of pore solutions which were extracted from HCP and the capacities of the HCP to bind CI were determined.
Diffusion coefficients of Cl- ions through HCP were increased with water cement ratio(WfC), but decreased with addition of the blending materials. On the contrary, Cl- and OH concentration of the pore solutions were reduced by adding the blending materials.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the degree of improvement in strengths by mixing blast-furnace slag and fly ash in polymer cement mortar(PCM). The test specimens are prepared with EVA polymer dispersion, two types of Admixtures (blast-furnace slag and fly ash), five kinds of polymer-cement ratios (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%), and six kinds of admixtures (0, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20%). Plain cement mortar is also made for comparison. From the test results, the flowing of PCM is greatly improved with the mixing of the admixtures, and strengths of PCM compared to ordinary cement mortar are also improved due to a decrease in water cement ratio. In addition, the strength characteristics of PCM by admixtures are greatly improved in flexural strength with fly ash compared to other strengths. It is apparent that the optimum mix proportions with polymer-cement ratio of 10% or more, admixture contents 5 to 10% of flay ash for flexural strength improvement of EVA-cement mortar are recommended in this study.

Prepacked concrete has recently been used in the special constructions fields such as underwater concrete work, heavy-weight concrete work, underground structure work, partial repair works for damaged reinforced concrete structures. and polymer-modified mortars have been employed as grouting mortars for the prepacked concrete. The purpose of this study is to recommend the optimum mix design of polymer-modified grouting mortars for prepacked concrete. Polymer-modified mortars using SBR and EVA emulsions as admixture of grouting mortars for prepacked concrete are prepared with various mix proportions such as sand-binder ratio, fly ash replacement ratio, polymer-binder ratio. and tested for flowability, viscosity of grouting mortars, bleeding ratio, expansion ratio, flexural and compressive strengths of grouting mortars and compressive and tensile strengths of prepacked concretes. From the test results, it is apparent that polymer-modified mortars can be produced as grouting mortars when proper mix design is chosen. We can design the mix proportions of high strength mortars for prepacked concrete according to the control of mix design factors such as type of polymer, polymer-binder ratio, sand-binder ratio and fly ash replacement ratio. Water-binder ratio of plain mortars for a constant flowability value are in the ranges of 43% to 50%. SBR-modified mortar has a little water-binder ratios compared to those of plain mortar, however, EVA-modified mortar needs a high water-binder ratio due to a high viscosity of polymer dispersion. The expansion and bleeding ratios of grouting mortars are also controlled in the proper value ranges. Polymer-modified grouting mortars have good flexural. compressive and tensile strengths, are not affected with various properties with increasing fly ash replacement to cement and binder-sand ratio. In this study, SBR-modified grouting mortar with a polymer-binder ratio of 10% or less, a fly ash replacement of 10% to cement and a sand-binder ratio of 1.5 is recommended as a grouting mortar for prepacked concrete.

Basic creep of concrete during very early ages is an important factor on the behavior of young concrete and a great deal of research has been executed. However, in recent studies, it was revealed that the basic creep measured by sealed concrete was inaccurate, especially for high strength concrete because of autogenous shrinkage at early age. This paper presents the results from experimental study that investigate to explore the effect of autogenous shrinkage in basic creep. More specifically, four different mix proportions were casted and the primary variables were water-cement ratios. Through this research, it was found that the differences between apparent specific creep and real specific creep were remarkable in low water-cement ratio at early age. Therefore, it is recommended to modify existing creep model by considering autogenous shrinkage
