The purposes of the study were (1) to seg-ment the female college apparel market based on fashion life style and (2) to develop a pro-file of each segment regard to self-concept, shopping orientation and patronage behavior. The data were collected through questionnaire by random sample of 526 female college students. By cluster analysis of lifestyle factors, three groups were identified, (fashion leaders, fashion followers and fashion aversion) Three groups were then compared through multivariate analysis of variance and chi-square statistics on 10 self-concept variables, 6 shopping statistics on 10 self-concept variables, 6 shopping orientation factors and 1 patronage behavior variable. Significant difference were found among the three groups on all these variables which indi-cate that fashion lifestyle can be a useful base for segmenting female apparel market and these groups are unique in terms of self-con-cept, shopping orientation and patronage behavior.
The purpose of this research was to investigate the motives of second-hand clothing consumers who both purchase from and donate to one retail outlet. Individuals' purchasing and donating motivations were examined using the hedonic/utilitarian framework. Eighteen participants who had donated to and purchased second-hand clothing from a charitable organization's thrift store were purposively selected and interviewed. Themes that emerged during data analysis were used to categorize the participants. The participants' responses suggested that hedonic and utilitarian motives drove both donation and purchase behavior. Academic and practical implications are presented.
The purpose of this study was to classify career women's apparel shopper type by analyzing clothing shopping orientations and to compare the classified shopper types on store evaluative criteria, information sources, and demographic characteristics. The questionnaire was administered to 328 career women aged 20∼59 years. The data were analyzed using factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, MONAVA, and x² test. The results of this study were as follows: Eight factors of clothing shopping orientation derived by factor analysis. Four shopper types were classified by cluster analysis: Apathetic shopper, High shopping involved shopper, Conformable shopper, Economic shopper type. Store evaluative criteria, information sources and demographic characteristics were significantly different among four shopper types.
The purposes of this study was to investigate discriminative factors of clothing buying intention on Internet shopping mall. The sample included 435 male(44.8%) and female(55.2% ) adults, and an instrument was developed based on previous studies. The statistical analysis used for this study were factor analysis, 1-test, and LISREL. The results of factor analysis showed that consumers evaluated apparel internet shopping attributes based on perceptional dimensions of internet shopping consisted of clothing quality and value. web service quality and value, and adoption of internet shopping. Each dimension has sub-factors as follows: (1) clothing quality was perceived as 'artistry' 'sociality' and 'practicality'. (2) web interface service quality was perceived as 'visuality', 'advantage', 'response', 'dependability' and 'buying-confidence'. (3) internet shopping adoption was perceived as 'usefulness' and 'convenience'. T-test revealed that consumer's buying intention, re-entry intention, and store attitude were differed concerning all sub-factors including 'usefulness' and 'convenience' in adoption of Internet shopping dimension. As a result of LISREL, clothing buying intention path model was set up as following path. (1) 'artistry', 'sociality' and 'practicality' of clothing quality affected clothing value perception positively. (2) 'visuality', 'advantage', 'response' and 'buying-confidence' of web service quality affected web service value perception positively. (3) clothing and web service value perception affected store attitude positively. (4) store attitude affected clothing buying intention positively. However, Adoption of Internet shopping dimension that was perceived as usefulness and convenience did not affect clothing buying intention path model. Therefore, consumers buying, intention model in internet circumstance could be used nearly the same as real market circumstance.

The purpose of this study were to extract and empirically examine the effect variables on phase performance of relationship development process by identifying relationship development process between apparel store and customer. The questionnaires was asministered to 333 women frequency use of a department store, big shopping mall, discount store in Gwang-ju city during March 4-11, 2003. The data was analyzed by factor analysis, correlation analysis, and Structural Equation Model using LISREL 8.30 program. As the results, the perceived service quality with attractive factor of relationship explration phase direct positively influenced customer satisfaction among relationship expansion phases. However, relational benefit directly influenced customer satisfaction with the primary phase of relationship maintain as well as trust, customer commiment and long-term orientation. Also, customer satisfaction direct positively influenced trust, and customer' trust direct positively influenced customer commitment. Finally, the customer commitment direct positively influenced long-term orientation.
The purpose of this study is to investigate various information relating to research on the dimensions of clothing used in the sale of products via the internet that used to target global SPA((Specialty Store Retailer of Private Label Apparel) brands sold in Korea. A total of 12 SPA brands including seven global SPA brands and five national. SPA brands were surveyed in this study. Brands were chosen net sales and consumer preferences the last three years. In all SPA brands, literal size designation such as S, M, L and numeric size designation such as 0, 2, 4 or 32, 34, 36 etc. were mixed, but in case of Jean, the size codes mark waist circumference were dominant. European size codes were more common in case of European brands while literal codes were more dominantly used for American size codes with in the US brands. By reviewing the measurement information of the body and product size, the product measurement methods of UNIQLO, FOREVER 21 and TOPTEN were much more accountable and excellent than other brands. However, most of the others didn't offer proper information such as pictograms or figures about measurement methods relating body sizes and product sizes. In addition, most of global SPA brands offered size conversion chart which consumers could reference, however of none of the national SPA brands offered a conversion size chart on their website. Regardless of the type of clothing, the coverage of clothing size was higher than in global SPA brands such as H&M GAP compared to national SPA brands. In particular, 8seconds did not present apparel size ranges that fit consumers' individual clothes sizes.
The purpose of this study was to observe a case study of pop-up stores in an apparel company in Korea in order to evaluate different feel and to determine the purchase behavior of pop-up visitors of three major fashion brands. This research was conducted through secondary data collection and primary data collection. A survey was conducted among NIKE, KUHO, and PUMA pop-up store visitors who were 20 to 40 years old, via questionnaires. Data were collected on-line and off line at the pop-up store. Data were analyzed using SPSS program. Through data analysis, we learned that most of the study participants were captivated by the digital elements in the environment of the NIKE pop-up store. Puma, the second most favorably ranked, was favored for its interior design. Meanwhile, KUHO stimulated its customers with its limited edition fashion products at a good price. Several feels of visitors about the pop-up stores were significantly different among the 3 different brands. There was a significant difference in purchase criteria, such as brand recognition, size, and design among visitors of the three different brands. Visitors who preferred KUHO considered design of products more than NIKE-preferred visitors. In conclusion, the clothing pop-up stores have the possibility of satisfying consumers' desires. Each brand can achieve a good performance in promotion with a differentiated strategy.
Store loyalty is increasingly being recognized as a path to long-term business profitability. Customer contact employees deliver a service firm's promises and create an important image for the firm. A major purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of customer service and product value on store loyalty. In order to test research hypotheses, data were collected through surveys administered to 300 apparel store customers. Two hundred thirty nine usable data were used for the analysis. The findings of this research are as follows: First, a employee's voluntary service(EVS) has a positive impact on interpersonal r elationship, which then affects switching barrier and store loyalty. Second, a employee's regular service(ERS) has an influence on store satisfaction, which in turn affect store loyalty. Third, product value is shown to be a significant antecedent to store satisfaction, which have a direct effect on store loyalty. The study concludes with implications, contributions, and limitations of the research and the empirical findings of this research should be beneficial to marketing practitioners and retailing businessmen in developing effective marketing strategies.
The objective of this study is to identify the relationship quality and relationship benefit, which has greater explanatory power in predicting fashion consumers' future loyalty. This study is particularly interested in the different explanatory power of each relationship quality with various relationship partners of fashion consumers. The participants were 507 female consumers over 20 years old and they responed questionnaire. The result showed that relationship quality types and relationship benefits having greater explanatory power in predicting consumers' loyal relationship intention varied with multi-loyal relations. Consumers' intention to be loyal to an apparel brand and apparel company was more explained by self attachment than by any other relationship quality types, whereas the intention to be loyal to specific department store was predicted by low involved relationship quality types such as habitual alternative and compensational bind. Trusted intimacy was the only relationship quality type that was significant in predicting consumers' intention to be loyal to salesperson in the future. Among relationship benefits, the influence of convenience benefit was significant in predicting consumers' future loyalty in most relations.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the purchase behavior, response, and complaining behavior for discounting claims in clothing products. The subjects are composed of 360 female consumers. Data were collected through questionnaire. Descriptive analysis was used for analysis of this study. The findings of this study were as follows: First, female consumer used department store for buying discount apparel products the most. The percentage of buying casual or sports wear for discounting was the most. Most consumers purchased clothing products when discounting at 20-40 percentages. Second, even if, consumers tended to distrust discounting claims, they were satisfied with discount apparel products. Especially, they were satisfied with price, design, color, and size, while they were dissatisfied with sewing and fabric in discount products. Third, most consumer knew the knowledge of consumer rights, but most dissatisfied consumers did not assert positive consumer's right. Therefore, marketer should increase the accessibility of their complaint receiving mechanism for dissatisfied consumers in retail environment.
