A Study on the Change of the Utility Room in Korean Apartment Housing - Focusing on the Residential Apartments built between 1995 and 2005 - (공동주택 다용도실 공간의 변화에 관한 연구 - 1995년부터 2005년 사이의 입주 완료된 아파트를 중심으로 -)

  • Korean Apartment Housing, which has been built up for short-time, represents as popular housing reflecting our unique cultural background, and recently the utility room in apartment housing has been changed to accept residents' needs, focusing on their improving life styles. At this point, the purpose of this study Is to analyze the characteristics of the utility room between 1995 and 2005 in order to grasp the current change of the utility space in Korean Apartment Housing. For this, this research investigated 176 samples, collected in 'Apartment Encyclopedia(2004)'. The major results of this study are as follows : 1) As the utility room gets bigger, the size and the ratio to the whole unit area are increased, however the ratio in small area is bigger than the ratio in other area. 2) According to time, the utility room tends to increase the size and the ratio to the whole unit area, and the Increasing tendency appears distinctively after 2002. 3) The utility room used to be located with rear balcony area, however, now it appears to be planned Independently with its unique function. 4) Currently, Second-Kitchen start to plan in the apartment housing.

  • The purpose of this study was identifying the user needs for the planning of public space in apartment dwelling units. 298 apartment residents in Haeundae, Pusan responded to the structural questionnaire, which included the residents' satisfaction for the location and size of the living room, the kitchen and the dining room, the space usage of the living room and the dining room, and preferred layout of the public space. The main findings are as follows. 1) The important household characteristics to consider are identified as family life cycle and the number of family members. 2) The levels of residents' satisfaction were differed by the household characteristics and the types of apartment. 3) Activities related to recreation, entertainment, and family meals in living room and formal and informal entertainments in the dining room were occurred in different way as to the household characteristics and the types of apartment. 4) The younger families in the smaller sized apartments had more diverse preference to the layout of the public space.

  • Transformation of complexity and diverse life style of contemporary men have call for increase in demand of single's and couple's living space of one-room apartment. Feasibility for intensive use of one-room apartment, regardless of it's openness and flexible character, multiple function in a single concentrated room without privacy and lack of confrontation of the changes in diverse living pattern enhance uniformity which reflects as an essential problem. Therefore, this study is to present a direction of one-room apartment interior space planning to differentiate from the existing system of uniformity and it's problems. Within the concept of flexibility, establishment of the flexibility factors for the application of hinged system with a movable furniture to compose a flexible space. In conclusion, the applications of hinged system concept of sliding, folding, over-hangings, are applied in existing one-room apartment plan to enhance flexible space planning which to drive in motivation and adaptation of the dweller's life cycle.

  • After the Enforcement of Price Deregulation of Apartment, Apartment house get down to originality goods, The Housing Market have reorganized the nucleus by a user, have demanding the development for discriminative unit plan. The purpose of this study is that before and after the Price Decontrol of Apartment take part a variety of unit plan, search for transformation factor and analyze into the tendency of the distinction plan of Housing Goods. Before and after the Price Decontrol of Apartment, Apartment unit have analyzed from 85 $m^2$ till 152 $m^2$ private area; ten corporations of civil construction' unit in Seoul and The national capital region supply apartment, will supply apartment. For selected examples, first, unit plan is normalized from the ratio of front to side wall, bay, a Room' organization and a kind of Room, number, and for examples of unit plan of apartment, the examples were analyzed with respect to change of a Room' organization and the number of a room and the ratio of front wall to side wall for item investigated. Finally, I search out course of transformation tendency of an apartment unit plan after Enforcement of Price Deregulation and analyzed a factor. The results of the study are follows, after Enforcement of Price Deregulation, unit plan of apartment lead to change lay out, to secure each family's privacy, to secure feeling for open hearted, tendency of flexibility.

A Study on the Plan Change of a public Room in an Apartment (아파트 공실공간의 평면변화에 관한 연구)

  • This study is mainly intended to understand on the plan change of a public room in the apartment. This study is summarized as follows; First how the plane type of an apartment public room in the Capital region has been changed since 1970's in which industrialization has seriously started. Second according to the adjoining types how the features of an apartment plan would be divided into some categories. Third how usable area and public area in an apartment has been changed, The scop of this study is limited to the national standard houses of which usable area is 40-85m2(12.1-25.7pyong) built in Seoul and five new cities from 1970's to the half of 1990's The study is based on documents of 1378 samples extracted classified and analysed the plan in the chronical order. The analysis scope is confined to family's public rooms in an apartment such as a living room a dining room and a kitchen. In conclusion the public rooms such as a living room a dining room, and a kitchen become stereotyped with no specific difference in Korean apartments. Especially LDK type, L/DK type is the most general plan in Korean apartments, and the demand of that type is continuously increasing lately.

A Study on the Reverberation Time Characteristics of Inside Space of Apartment Buildings (공동주택 내부 공간의 잔향시간 특성 조사 연구)

  • In this study, the reverberation time of apartment living room was measured and distribution of the reverberation time was analyzed. In addition, sound field characteristics of mock-up test room similar with living room and timber structured bedroom was investigated with addition of furniture and sound absorption material. Average reverberation time of unfurnished apartment unit was 1.11 s, and reverberation time in 630 Hz~2000 Hz bands were longer than 1.2 s. It was found that from the field measurement results, reverberation time characteristic of furnished apartment living room was uniform in most of frequency bands. Averaged reverberation time of furnished living room was 0.48 s and the reverberation time of bedroom was 0.44 s. Standardized sound pressure level correction values were calculated from the average reverberation time of furnished and unfurnished apartment units. The correction value of unfurnished living room was −3.4 dB and that of furnished living room was 0.2 dB. Measured reverberation time of furnished and unfurnished apartment units indicated that reference reverberation time; 0.5 s, in KS and ISO standards is reasonable also in Korean residential environment.

  • Living room in modern housing accepts social behavior of modem family realized diversified life and the core of the housing space. So living room in the housing space is composed of many various components, handled very carefully in a color plan. This study is purposed on proposing basic data for color planing of the living room in an apartment, especially a sold housing accommodating the social change. As a result of understanding the color image of a apartment living room for the last 5 years, phenomenon of using natural color which makes people feel comfortable is common with durability. Also the image of space composition which usually called in modern, classic and dandy is appeared with various coloration easily in a medium-large or large living room, So these show the various demand of high-level or medium-level inhabitants. For an actual proof, basic data for research about the color image of a apartment living room in korea have to be accumulated constantly. After that the research which can take concrete shape and visualize the change of the color image of korean apartment living room will revitalize.

A Study on the Current Situation of Using Community Facilities and Its Proper Size in Apartment (아파트 단지 내 커뮤니티 시설의 이용실태 및 적정규모에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the awareness of apartment residents on their using tendency of community facilities established in apartment complex in order to verify a role that such facilities play in making contributions to lives of apartment dwellers and to analyze their using tendency of the facilities and subsequent problems. The study produced the important findings as follows. First, the level of exchange among residents and their satisfaction were raised high in the apartment complex that offered substantial community facilities. Second, in regard to physical aspect, community activities among dwellers were brisk in the apartment complex where community facilities were organically connected. Third, fitness center, shower room and golf course were excessive in terms of space provided while the space alloted for G.X room, a place used exclusively for class, was insufficient. Fourth, the analysis of using tendency and preference level showed that fitness center, shower room and G.X room were the required facilities. The rooms for using PCs and watching DVDs and the singing room were found to be unnecessary because such facilities were low in the effectiveness when the operating cost was considered.

  • This study is intended to analyze the preference of one-room apartment according to the type of life style of single people between 20 and 30 years age. The major findings were as follows: 1) The single people prefer the one-roon apartment(90.2%). 2) The Life styles were classified into 5 types: tradition preservation. self-fulfillment, fashion-pursuit. economy priority. convenience-pursuit. 3) The preference of a one room apartment is strongly influenced by all types of life styles regardless of tradition preservation.

The preference of Interior space of the consumers's characteristics among Apartment (소비자 특성에 따른 아파트 실내 공간 선호)

  • This study has been designed to explore the preferences of interior space for those living in apartment housing. It also examines the relationships between preferences of interior space, such as storage space, organization type of LDK(the living room, the dining room, and kitchen), space facing south, an interior garden, the concept of each room and the characteristics of the consumers, such as age, educational background employment status of homemakers, occupation of the primary income provider, family-life cycle, total household income, the size of floor space, and homeownership. In conclusion, this study suggests that at the time of designing apartment housing units, serious consideration should be given to the built-in closets or storage space in the anbang and to the location of a child's room facing to the south of the dwelling, especially for the families with a child attending primary school or younger and higher education level of homemaker. This study also recommends that the organization of the living room, the dining room, and the kitchen should be varied according to the housing size and the age of homemaker.
