This study was to evaluate residents' environmental cognition, satisfaction and needs of distinctive outdoor space in apartment housing estates. Distinctive outdoor space of 75 apartment estates throughout the country were investigated. And the residents of 16 apartment estates were asked how they cognize disticntive outdoor space qualities, and what activities they prefer in apartment's outdoor space. Thre important factors were extracted in residents' cognition of distinctive outdoor space qualities. First factor was naturalness of the greenery, second factor was outdoor activities especially related to fitness and exercise, and third factor was design of street furniture. Residents' satisfaction degree of distinctive outdoor space tended to increase as high as the occupied housing area. Places with water, tree shades, pedestrian way, greenery with flowers, playlots, fitness places and entrances of the estates were evaluated high in the order named. And places full with greenery, places related to fitness and exercisem, playlots were prefered by the residents.

In Korea has been supplied a large quantities of apartments since 1970s. The deteriorated middle-rise apartments of 1970s' have been rebuilt. It isn't lucrative to reconstruct the high-rise Apartment estates of the early 1990s' new towns in the capital area. Therefore the sustainable regeneration strategies of them have to be found. This research have been focused on the social and economical changes based on demography and the turning of technology and paradigm, the cities competitiveness compared with 2nd era new towns, physical deterioration of themselves. In these aspects, high-rise apartment estates in the 1st new towns face to 10 challenges such as an aging society, a multicultural society, U-city, an environmentally-friendly situation, the cities competitiveness of social, conomical and physical environment, the declining of estates, buildings and units. This study analyzed problems of 1st new town apartment estates and suggested regeneration tasks in accordence with those problems. The tasks are as follows. To accommodate the 1st new town apartment estates to social changes, they need to have a variety of community facilities and units, an opportunity of esidents participation. to establish a self-sufficient economy, a community usiness has to be vitalized and an ecological environment, an infrastructure of u-city and an improvement of physical environment obtained.

For a development of the software which estimates the economics of a combined heat and power generation system in apartment estates, the thermal consumption and electric power consumption data were investigated in about 115 apartment estates. And the algorithm was developed, then the software was made by the macro function of the Excel spread sheets.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between the affective responses and residents' satisfaction in apartment housing estates. This study was conducted to empirically identify the effect of physical contents of apartment buildings on the affective response and satisfaction of residents. The area for evaluation was limited to four apartment buildings in Daegu, and the subjects for evaluation were also limited to a group of residents living at the four apartment buildings. SPSSWIN, a statistical program was used for analysis.

This study proposes design factors for Korean style ecological apartment for application in Cheongju. Library and internal surveys were performed to summarize the concept of locality in housing and to determine the present condition of apartment estates which were introduced with design factors according to locality, traditionalism, or ecology, fold surveys were carried out at 10 apartment estates to investigate the present condition of management and residents's un. The interviewees were concierges and representative residents. The following design factors for Korean style ecological apartment to be applied in Cheongju were proposed; layout and building shape according to climate as natural environment, landscape factors according to cultural assets as human environment, adolescent spaces according to population as social environment, road plan according to 'Cheongju Garosu-Gil' civil environment.

The aim is to get comprehensive view point for the price of apartment. Apartment construction cost is the sun of land cost and building cost. Land price reflects the value of location where building stands. When the gap between price and affordability is narrow enough, effective demand promote apartment construction. The today's trends of rising price, which began in apartment housing, spreads to real estates market and finally overall consumer price. Problem is that price is decided only by supplier's interest. Equilibrium-pricing is common process in housing market. However it is important to review hedonic price and the factor of housing services and focused on the affordability of demanders. AHP analysis was used to study real needs and preference of demanders and dealt with 200 interviewees with brief checklists. We found that social factor is more important than building cost or site development. Especially location of apartment is most important to affect environment quality and accessibility to facilities.

The correlation between the satisfaction with the physical elements of each apartment and the affective factors was analyzed. The analysis showed that there was mostly a statistically significant negative correlation. This result also suggests that the satisfaction with the physical elements may vary depending on the affective attitude. SPSSWIN, a statistical program was used for analysis.

The current regulations and laws related to landscaping facilities within apartment estates stipulate the proportion of the estate lot allocated to green area and landscaping. These regulations define the criteria for landscaping, the density of trees and other related matters. In fact. the selection and locations of trees are determined by the builder. The builder first decides the location of the building and then allocates the residual land to landscaping. So landscaping within apartment complexes is often unmet to residents' need and ecological growth and function of trees and plants. This study was designed to examine the variety of trees and their location as an aspect of their function within each area of the YS and DK apartment complexes. As the results, the difference in the two estates is striking in aspects of quantity and quality. Even though the regulations for landscaping within apartment estate is met. the real landscaping is often unmet to residents and general people.

Since 1960's Mapo Apartment Housing, the apartment housing has been established as the typical urban housing type, and its design of outdoor spaces being transformed diversely. The purpose of this study is to identify the periodical trend of outdoor space design by analysing the elements of outdoor spaces in the apartment housing estates constructed in Daejon City.

By analyzing the use of outdoor space in apartment complex and finding empirical proof which is concrete and systemic, this study focuses on the relationship between residents' daily lives and physical space. This study tries to find out the types and characteristics of outdoor space which causes the occurrence of residents' use in High-Rise apartment housing Estates, and analyzes the residents' usage pattern of outdoor space in eight different apartment complexes which were builted since 2004. After analyzing the usage pattern of outdoor space, the usage of playground was ranked highest and playing, talking, exercising, resting was in order. Especially it was found that the usage inside semi-public space where passing is abundant increases.
