  • The kill probability of a missile depends on guidance error, warhead performance, and etc. In this paper, we analyzed the kill probability of anti-tank missile in a new approach. Under the condition that the missile hit the target, we studied the effect of angle of attack and impact angle. High impact angle increase the probability that the missile hits the upper armour which is relatively weaker, while high angle of attack at the impact instant decreases the effectiveness of the jet induced by the warhead. We proposed a way to increase the capability of penetration by analyzing the interrelation between impact angle and angle of attack.

  • 6-DOF flight simulation program is most generally used M&S tool in domestic missile development procedure. The 6-DOF M&S method, however, cannot validate the performance of a imaging seeker-adopted missile in various conditions. A M&S tool for the analysis of the integrated-flight simulation is required since the tracking performance of the imaging seeker is highly dependent on the missile maneuvering, which introduces the displacement and rotation of the target in the seeker imagery. Through the development of the $3^{rd}$ generation anti-tank missile, Raybolt, the integrated-flight M&S tool was developed and applied to the missile configuration design. It integrates synthetic image generation S/W, imaging tracker, and flight simulation program and computes the main system performance criteria, hit probability by Monte-Carlo Simulation. In this paper, the issues in the $3^{rd}$ generation anti-tank missile configuration and the integrated-flight M&S method and results are described.

  • A composite guidance scheme is proposed for air-to-ground anti-tank missiles launched from an airborne platform. Long-range anti-tank missiles usually use a fiber optic line (FOL) for the datalink between an operator and the missile to obtain real-time target information and to command the missile. Also, impact angle control is used to maximize the warhead effectiveness, but it should be carefully implemented due to interference between the launch platform and the FOL. Thus, the proposed guidance scheme takes into account both impact angle and FOL constraints. Under system lag and acceleration limits, a selection method of guidance gains and calculation logic of the maximum achievable impact angle are proposed for a guideline of practical implementation. The performance of the proposed guidance scheme is investigated by nonlinear simulations with various engagement conditions.

  • In this paper, we proposed a method for eliminating aiming error of unguided anti-tank rocket using improved target tracking. Since predicted fire is necessary to hit moving targets with unguided rockets, a method was proposed to estimate the position and velocity of target using fire control system. However, such a method has a problem that the hit rate may be lowered due to the aiming error of the shooter. In order to solve this problem, we used an image-based target tracking method to correct error caused by the shooter. We also proposed a robust tracking method based on TLD(Tracking Learning Detection) considering characteristics of the FCS(Fire Control System) devices. To verify the performance of our proposed algorithm, we measured the target velocity using GPS and compared it with our estimation. It is proved that our method is robust to shooter's aiming error.

  • This paper focuses on the calculation of the missile angular velocity under the reduced sensor condition and its verification using the Flight Motion Simulator(FMS). The missile angular velocity is usually measured by the body gyroscopes, but we assume that the inertial sensors on the missile body are in the absence of pitch and yaw gyroscopes. Under this reduced sensor condition, this paper shows the missile angular velocity can be calculated by using the gimbal seeker gyroscope, the roll body gyroscope, the gimbal angle and its rate. The FMS experiment was carried out to verify the proposed algorithm.
