  • We developed a loading sleeve for Automobile, which has the PCS and IMT-2000 frequency bands. The electric characteristics of the designed sleeve monopole has SWR<1.311 and 3.0dBi in average gain for that frequency bands. In this study, the designed sleeve monopole was installed at a roof and trunk lid of vehicle. The characteristics of designed sleeve monopole was investigated by measuring SWR, input impedance and radiation pattern. The experimental results show that the efficiency of the sleeve monopole is superior th that of domestic and foreign commercial PCS antenna.

  • This paper represents an adaptive beamforming technique to suppress interference or jamming signals in wideband. In order to maintain low side lobe level(SLL) at an antenna element level, Taylor-weighting was used. Also, to make a nulling beam pattern toward jammer's directions in wideband, we used the modified Loaded Sample Matrix Inversion(LSMI) algorithm and Tapped Delay Line(TDL). To verify the proposed algorithm, we applied it to a rectangular array antenna. Finally, the results show beam pattern with low SLL and jammers suppression.

  • In this paper, a carbon strain gauge for large strain was developed. The carbon strain gauge was fabricated by forming PCB and antenna pattern using Cu/Ni/Au film and carbon resistor pattern using screen printing process on plastic film substrate. It was possible to develop low-cost disposable strain gauge since the carbon paste was cheap and the fabrication process was simple. The wireless communication type carbon strain gauge was fabricated by integrating signal processing circuit, antenna and power all together on the same substrate as a strain gauge. The wireless communication type carbon strain gauge has a merit of being available immediately at the spot without any particular system.

  • In this letter, a planar monopole UWB antenna with dual band-notched characteristics is proposed. The band-stop characteristics is realized by embedding the 1st/3rd order Hilbert-curve slots on the patch. With the dimension adjustment of each Hilbert-curve slots, the band rejection from 3.3 to 3.7 GHz and from 5.3 to 6 GHz can be accomplished easily. The VSWR and radiation pattern of the fabricated antenna are measured, and the proposed antenna would be adequate to a UWB applications.

  • A microstrip antenna for mobile system are designed at the resont frequency 0.88 GHz. The microstrip array antenna are designed to depend on the size of rectanular microstrip path for the relative current distribution to be 1:4.69:1 using Tchebyscheff polynominals. Gain difference between the main lobe and sidelobe is calculated for theoritical values of 20 dB. The designed microstrip array antenna are mesureed various characteristics, such as return loss, radiation pattern, V.S.W.R, bandwidth, and agreed with each other and theoretical value. Also it is presented a process of phase variation of patch array antenna depend on relative current distribution for beam scanning.

  • In this paper, we have designed, fabricated and measured a compact rectangular mono-cone antenna for ultra-wideband applications. The proposed antenna covers the entire UWB band (3.1 GHz $\sim$ 10.6GHz). The measured bandwidth is 8.2 GHz from 2.8GHz to 11 GHz for ${\mid}S_{11}{\mid}{\leq}-10dB$. From the measured results, the proposed antenna shows a good characteristics (linear phase, omni-directional pattern and very low gain variation) for UWB applications. Also, the measured results have a reasonable agreement with the simulated results.

  • The LHCP circularly polarized antenna operating at the satellite broadcast receiving band is developed by employing the sequential-rotation technique in which each truncated-corner patch square element is arranged in the triangular lattice type. Antenna designed with sequentially rotated technique of triangular lattice type has the effect of improved axial-ratio bandwidth, cross-polarization etc., and the degradation of radiation pattern can be reduced significantly by minimizing the radiation loss of feeding line structure. Characteristics of antenna designed is satisfied with specifications of array antenna for DBS that is -27 dB of side lobe level and -20 dB of cross-polarized level at $\Phi$=45$^{\circ}$ plane.

  • The development of 2-D radiometer is a new technical challenge for space borne remote sensing area. The Y-type antenna array has been proposed as a most efficient configuration because a large alias free FOV and a small-synthesized beam-width can be achieved compared to L-, T-type under the fixed antenna spacing. New configuration of antenna array, which is called sub-Y type configuration, is proposed to obtain a higher angular resolution than the case of Y-type array in the paper. The sub-Y type array is consisted of basic arrays, which are the Y-type array of four antenna elements. To analyze characteristics of the proposed configuration, the synthesized beam pattern is simulated through simulation. The secondary effect of the sub-Y-type is that the reconstructed image is suffered from the alias effect is appeared around the real target. The ghost targets in the reconstructed image can be reduced by the alias suppression algorithm introduced in this paper. In conclusion, the performance evaluation by use of array factor simulation shows more than 37.5% improvement in average for angular resolution and almost similar performance for temperature resolution.

  • This paper describes the design optimization of parasitic elements used for TACAN broadband antenna. We deployed parasitic elements arranged in a circular array to electronically rotate the antenna instead of employing a mechanically rotated antenna to generate the composite radiation pattern of 15 Hz and 135 Hz including bearing information and to meet the harmonic contents specification of MIL-STD-291C. We performed the simulation for optimization of the parasitic elements and fabricated the antenna composed of 16 parasitic elements of 15 Hz and 63 parasitic elements of 135 Hz. With harmonics magnitude reduction by increasing the number of steps using vector composition of the reflectors, the measured result meets the specification of MIL-STD-291C.

  • In this paper, we propose a microstrip line fed printed monopole antenna which has an ultra-wideband characteristic. Proposed antenna can improve the bandwidth characteristic with the taper structure formed by modified ground plane and radiating element. Measured impedance bandwidth ratio of the antenna is more than 30:1; from the lower frequency of 0.89 GHz to the upper frequency of more than 30 GHz for VSRW$\leq$2. The antenna has conical radiation pattern that has low radiation gain to $\theta$=0$^{\circ}$ direction and higher radiation gains as $\theta$ increases.
