A Study on Correlation Processing Method of Multi-Polarization Observation Data by Daejeon Correlator (대전상관기의 다중편파 관측데이터 상관처리 방법에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we describe the correlation processing method of multi-polarization observation data of the Daejeon Correlator. VLBI observations include single or multiple polarized observations depending on the type of object. Polarization observations are performed to observe the characteristics of the object. During the observations of the celestial object, polarization measurements are also performed to determine the delay values and causes of changes in the object. Correlation processing of polarization observation data of the Daejeon correlator is proposed by OCTAVIA of a synchronous reproduction processing apparatus that outputs data input to each antenna unit by using an output bit selection function to convert bits and the order of the data streams is changed, And the input of the Daejeon correlator is configured to perform the polarization correlation processing by conducting correlation processing by setting the existing stream number to be the same. Correlation processing is conducted on the test data observed for the polarization correlation processing and it is verified through experiments that the polarization correlation processing method of the proposed Daejeon correlator is effective.

Spatial Correlation-based Resource Sharing in Cognitive Radio SWIPT Networks

  • Cognitive radio-simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (CR-SWIPT) has attracted much interest since it can improve both the spectrum and energy efficiency of wireless networks. This paper focuses on the resource sharing between a point-to-point primary system (PRS) and a multiuser multi-antenna cellular cognitive radio system (CRS) containing a large number of cognitive users (CUs). The resource sharing optimization problem is formulated by jointly scheduling CUs and adjusting the transmit power at the cognitive base station (CBS). The effect of accessing CUs' spatial channel correlation on the possible transmit power of the CBS is investigated. Accordingly, we provide a low-complexity suboptimal approach termed the semi-correlated semi-orthogonal user selection (SC-SOUS) algorithm to enhance the spectrum efficiency. In the proposed algorithm, CUs that are highly correlated to the information decoding primary receiver (IPR) and mutually near orthogonal are selected for simultaneous transmission to reduce the interference to the IPR and increase the sum rate of the CRS. We further develop a spatial correlation-based resource sharing (SC-RS) strategy to improve energy sharing performance. CUs nearly orthogonal to the energy harvesting primary receiver (EPR) are chosen as candidates for user selection. Therefore, the EPR can harvest more energy from the CBS so that the energy utilization of the network can improve. Besides, zero-forcing precoding and power control are adopted to eliminate interference within the CRS and meet the transmit power constraints. Simulation results and analysis show that, compared with the existing CU selection methods, the proposed low-complex strategy can enhance both the achievable sum rate of the CRS and the energy sharing capability of the network.

  • This paper presents channel measurements for wireless body area network(WBAN) and provides performance evaluation from the measurement. We measured the radio propagation in 2.45 GHz ISM band in an anechoic chamber according to various human movements and the position of transmit antennas. Two transmit antennas are mounted on different positions of human body for the purpose of comparing the diversity gain and correlation between the channels in $2{\times}1$ multiple-input single-output(MISO) systems. The experimental results show that the outage capacity is closely related with the correlation coefficient between channels in transmit diversity system.

Metamaterial-Based Zeroth-Order Resonant Antennas for MIMO Applications

  • A compact ($0.26{\times}0.05$ ${\lambda}_0$ at 2.27 GHz) metamaterial-based zeroth-order resonant antenna system consisting of epsilon-negative (ENG) and mu-negative (MNG) structures is proposed. Although the spacing between the ENG and MNG antennas is only 0.09 ${\lambda}_0$, the isolation is relatively high (27.6 dB at 2.27 GHz). Furthermore, the envelope correlation is only 0.015. The radiation efficiencies of the proposed two radiators are also very high (90% on average).

  • Recently, much attention has been given to plasma production under liquid and its applications [1]. However, most of plasma production techniques reported so far utilize high voltage dc, ac, rf or microwave power [2], where damage to discharge electrodes and small discharge volume are remained issues. As an alternative of plasma production method under liquid, we have proposed pulsed microwave excited plasma using slot antenna, where damage to the slot electrode can be minimized and plasma volume can be increased. We have also reported improvement of treatment efficiency with use of reduced-pressure condition during the discharge [3]. To realize low pressure conditions in liquid, various alternative technique can be considered. One possible technique is simultaneous injection of microwave power and ultrasonic wave. Ultrasonic wave induces pressure fluctuation with the wave propagation and is so far used for cavitation production in the water. We propose utilization of reduced pressure induced by ultrasonic cavitation for improvement of the plasma production. Correlation between the plasma production and the ultrasonic power will be discussed.

  • In this paper, we consider the quasi maximum likelihood(quasi-ML) detector which uses antenna arrays in asynchronous time-varing channels. It is shown that the proposed quasi-ml detector can be regarded as a beamformer followed by a decorrelator: a method based on the eigendecomposition of the correlation matrix of the inverse-filtered signal is proposed to estimate the channel vectors. We also show that the proposed algorithm estimates the channel vector within small mismatch loss in severe propagation environment through computer simulations.

  • In this paper, we compare and analyze the spectral efficiency of representative adaptive MIMO algorithms in indoor environments. We first briefly investigate the modulation and demodulation schemes of MIMO algorithms to be compared and then implement adaptive algorithms by using BPSK and square QAM schemes up to 256QAM. We finally compare the spectral efficiency of adaptive MIMO algorithms employing (2$\times$2) or (4$\times$4) antenna array through the computer simulation in indoor environments.

  • Electroantennogram(EAG) can be applied to detect odorants since insects have highly specialized olfactory receptors inside their antennae. The characteristics of EAG parameters were investigated for the quantitative measurement of a general odorant using ammonia as a model odorant. The antennae of male silkworm moth, Bombyx mori, were used for the EAG. The electical signal curves generated from a pair of antennae originating from the same silkworm moth were never identical; however, they exhibited a typical type I or type II characteristic curve pattern for every pair of antennae. The correlation between the EAG parameters and the ammonia concentration was analyzed for the type I and type II antennae. The stability of each parameter was also investigated for each type of antenna. The results show the possibility of the quantitative measurement of general odorants using the EAG technique.

  • In this thesis, we develop and analyze the beamforming algorithm which has two constraints to combat the signal cancellations. Through the simulation results, it is shown that the proposed scheme is more efficient compared with the spatial averaging method for preventing signal cancellation and eliminating interfering signal.
