  • In this paper, I design a linear array antenna simulator for anti-jamming GPS systems and perform various performance analysis by simulation. First, I generate simulated transmission signals through the analysis of GPS satellite signal structure, and analyze SNR(Signal to Noise power Ratio) performance of linear array antenna according to number of arrays under noise environments. In addition, I analyze the performance of the anti-jamming beam pattern using MMSE(Minimum Mean Square Error) signal processing method, and also analyze the anti-jamming performance considering antenna calibration problem when there are different delays between arrays.

  • We report the performance of a four-element, 11.67 GHz, $high-{T}_c$ superconducting (HTS) microstrip antenna array with corporate feed network. The HTS antenna array used in this work had a circular polarization for direct broadcasting satellite (DBS) system. Our array antennas were designed and built on a 0.5 mm thick MgO substrate. To compare the superconducting antennas with normal conducting counterpart, One antenna pattern was fabricated from gold thin film, and a second pattern was fabricated from ${YBa}_2{Cu}_3{O}_7-x(YBCO)$ superconducting thin film. To improve the axial ratio of circularly polarized arrays, sequential rotation technique were used. Efficiency, radiation pattern, return loss and bandwidth were measured for both antennas at cryogenic temperature and room temperature. The array produced good circular polarization, and the gain of the array at 77 K, relative to a copper array at room temperature was approximately 1.54 dB. The measured return loss of our HTS antenna array was 35.79 dB at the resonant frequency of 11.67 GHz and The total effective bandwidth was about 3.4 %. The results showed that high-temperature superconductors, when used in microstrip arrays, improved the efficiency of the HTS antenna array for circularly polarization.

  • We propose a serial acquisition scheme using antenna arrays for initial acquisition of direct sequence spread spectrum (DS-SS) signals, which can lower substantially the range of detectable signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The proposed scheme uses the sum of the independent decision samples form psedo-noise (PN) co-phased noncoherent I-Q matched filters (MFs) associated with antenna arrays as a decision variable in order to enhance SNR of the resulting signal. We analyze its mean acquisition time performance under an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and a flat Rayleigh fading channel by deriving the expressions for the probabilities of detection and false alarm. From mumerical results, we see that the acquisition performance of the proposal scheme becomes improved continually as the number of antennas increses.

  • The MC-CDMA(multi-carrier code division multiple access) technique is known to be appropriate for high data-rate wireless communications such as mobile multimedia communication due to its robustness to multipath fading and its capability of handing high data rates with a simple one-tap equalizer. In this paepr, the performance of a MC-CDMA cellular system employing antenna arrays at the based station in a fading channel is presented. It is whown that the interference from other users within the cell can be significantly reduced for both reverse link (mobile to base station) and forward link (base station to mobile) using a MC-CDMA with antenna arrays, thus incresig the system's user-capacity. Computer simulations that demonstrate user-capacity improvement of the proposed approach are discussed.

  • Massive antenna array is an attractive candidate technique for future broadband wireless communications to acquire high spectrum and energy efficiency. However, such benefits can be realized only when proper channel information is available at the transmitter. Since the amount of the channel information required by the transmitter is large for massive antennas, the feedback is burdensome in practice, especially for frequency division duplex (FDD) systems, and needs normally to be reduced. In this paper a novel channel feedback reduction scheme based on the theory of distributed compressive sensing (DCS) is proposed to apply to massive antenna arrays with spatial correlation, which brings substantially reduced feedback load. Simulation results prove that the novel scheme is better than the channel feedback technique based on traditional compressive sensing (CS) in the aspects of mean square error (MSE), cumulative distributed function (CDF) performance and feedback resources saving.

  • Wireline relay stations(RS's) are connected to cellular base stations(BS's) via radio-over-fiber(RoF) to enhance system capacity and to reduce shadow areas. Unlike wireless multi-hop systems, BS-to-RS signaling is transmitted out-of-band, thus reducing the effect of interference caused by frequency reuse. In this paper, antenna arrays used in addition to the wireline RS's are considered to evaluate the transmission capacity gain and performance variations according to the may structures. In particular, RS locations to maximize the gain, may distribution patterns for a given number of antenna elements, performance enhancement for a varying number of elements are experimentally determined to suggest a proper utilization of antenna ways in conjunction with wireline RS's.

  • In this paper, we propose a dual-band GPS antenna using a single-layer coupled-feed structure for improvement of isolation and design complexity. The proposed antenna consists of a central feed patch and outer dual loops, and the loops are electromagnetically fed by the feed patch to induce currents. This feeding network can improve the isolation between antenna elements arranged in small arrays because the magnetic field strength near the antenna is minimized by confining the fields around the dual loops. The isolation characteristics of the proposed antenna are compared with those of the conventional multi-layer patch antenna, and the average field strength and the isolation are improved by 3 dB and 2 dB, respectively, which verifies that the antenna is suitable for small CRPA arrays.

  • We propose a parallel acquisition scheme using antenna arrays for initial acquisition of direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) signals. The proposed parallel scheme can lower substantially the range of detectable signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) as compared to the conventional parallel scheme with a single antenna. The proposed scheme uses the sum of the independent decision samples from antenna arrays corresponding to an identical subsequence of the pseudonoise (PN) code as a decision variable. We derive the probabilities of detection, missing, and false alarm under an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and a flat Rayleigh fading channel. Using these, we get the mean acquisition time of the proposed scheme. From numerical results, we see that the acquisition performance becomes improved continually as the number of antennas increases.

  • An orthogonal antenna is presented for reader application of radio frequency identification (RFID) at 433 MHz. Two 1x2 sub-arrays are orthogonally placed on a ground plane and two different feeding networks are applied to control horizontal and vertical radiation current flows for each sub-array, respectively. Inverted-F structures are used as radiation elements and can generate two linear polarizations by relative current distribution of radiators forming sub-arrays. Antenna gains are 2.7 and 0.4 dBi and isolation between two input ports is less than 25dB.
