Anionic epoxy compound was synthesized and added to asphalt aiming to prepare self-healing asphalt. Epoxy-modified asphalt showed excellent modification effect and healing effect as well. The results revealed that with 5% addition of polymer the tensile strength, impact strength and complex shear modulus of the polymer-modified asphalt increased by 65%. 64% and 35%, respectively. It seems that high interaction occurs between polymer and asphalt matrix. Self-healing efficiency of the polymer-modified asphalt based on tensile strength showed 100%, comparing to 79% of straight asphalt. In impact experiment the polymer-modified asphalt showed 99% of healing efficiency, comparing to 77% of straight asphalt. In rheological experiment the polymer-modified asphalt showed 103% of healing efficiency, comparing to 72% of straight asphalt. It appears that the ionic bonding existing in epoxy polymers contributed to high values of self-healing efficiency. The polymer which has high intermolecular force fills the crack of the asphalt, pulling the opponent side each other, and so the original properties were restored.
Plasma disappearance of amaranth (AM), a model compound of organic anionic drugs, was retarded by intravenous infusion of taurodeoxycholate (TDC), a representative bile acid, in the rat. Biliary excretion accounted for 30-60% of the systemic excretion of AM. AM seemed to be metabolised in the hepatocyte to form a compound that is excreted more rapidly into the bile than AM itself, considering apparent biliary clearance, $CL_{bil}$, is much larger than systemic clearance, $CL_s$. Decrease in $CL_{bil}$ by TDC infusion might be due to elevated plasma level rather than decreased biliary excretion of AM. Decreased distribution or urinary excretion of AM by TDC was supposed to be one of the probable reasons of elevated plasma level. Competitive inhibition between AM and TDC on tissue distribution and urinary excretion might explain the mechanism. The effect of TDC on the $CL_{bil}$ of methylene blue, a cationic dye, was quite different from that of AM, as reported previously by us. More intensive study would be necessary to elucidate the difference of biliary excretion between organic anions and cations.

Liquid butadiene rubber (LqBR) is used as a processing aid and plays a vital role in the manufacture of high-performance tire tread compounds. In this study, center-functionalized LqBR (C-LqBR) was polymerized with different vinyl content via anionic polymerization. The effects of the vinyl content on the properties of the compounds were investigated by partially replacing the treated distillate aromatic extract (TDAE) oil with C-LqBR in silica-filled rubber compounds. C-LqBR compounds showed a low Payne effect and Mooney viscosity regardless of the vinyl content, because of improved silica dispersion due to the ethoxysilyl group. As the vinyl content of C-LqBR increased, the optimum cure time (t90) increased owing to a decrease in the number of allylic hydrogen. Moreover, the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the compound increased, and snow traction and abrasion resistance performance decreased, whereas wet grip improved. The energy loss characteristics revealed that the hysteresis attributed to the free chain ends of C-LqBR was dominant.
An anionic polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) were synthesized from the poly (tetramethylene glycol) (PTMG, Mw = 2000 g/mol), mixed isocyanate of dicyclohexylmethane-4,4'-diisocyanate $(H_{12}-MDI)$ and 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), and dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA) as anionic site, following a prepolymer mixing process. Triethylamine (TEA) was used as a neutralization agent and the ethylenediamine (EDA) as the chain extender of the prepolymer. The effects of the DMPA molar ratio and aromatic diisocyanate content in the mixed isocyanate on the particle size and viscosity of PUD were studied. Also, the mechanical and thermal properties of the PUD cast films were discussed according to the molar ratio of DMPA and aromatic isocyanate content. It was found that the particle size and the viscosity of an anionic PUD decreased with increasing DMPA molar ratio but increased with increasing aromatic isocyanate (MDI) content in the mixed isocyanate at the constant DMPA content. Tensile strength of the PUD cast films increased and elongation at break decreased with increasing DMPA content at the constant mixed isocyanate molar ratios. In thermal degradation temperature of PUD cast films, the effect of DMPA contents was great but the effect of aromatic isocyanate contents at the low DMPA content was very slight respectively.
This study was concerned with the scouring effect of anionic surfactants, PAPE(sodium polyoxyethylene alkyl phosphoric ester) for cotton fibres. Sodium polyoxyethylene(7) nonylphenyl phosphoric ester(CPB-1) and the sodium polyoxyethylene(7) tridecyl phosphoric ester(CPB-2) were synthesized by the phosphoric esterification reaction from NP-7(polyoxyethylene(7) nonylphenyl ether) and TDA-7(polyoxyethylene(7) tridecyl ether) as scouring agents. Defoaming ability, fibre wetting time and absorbency rate of scouring agents were investigated. Being compared with the conventional scouring agent(Ultravon GP; Ciba-guyge Co.), CPB-1 and CPB-2 showed a higher defoaming ability in the cotton scouring process at room temperature. And CPB-1 has a higher wetting effect than the agents, CPB-2 or GP in distilled water bath but CPB-2 showed more scouring effect in 1.2 wt % NaOH solution bath.
The effect of anionic and cationic exchange polymer layer on the chronopotentiometry (CP) and current voltage curves (I-V) of charged composite membrane are investigated. Also, the ion transport near the interface between electrolyte and ionic exchange polymer membranes (anionic and cationic ones) and charged mosaic polymer composite membrane is studied. The results show that both anionic and cationic polymer exchange membranes exhibit lower voltage drop over range of applied current density and possess favorable industrial application potentials, especially at low KCl concentration. While the charged mosaic polymer composite membrane didn't show any current-voltage change, irrespective to the type and the concentration of used electrolyte. CP and I-V measurements are effectively used to give some fundamental understanding for ion transport behavior of ion exchange polymer membrane near the interlace.

Dipyridine-terminated polystyrenes and polybutadienes were synthesized by the chain endfunctionalization reaction of polystyryllithium (PSLi) and polybutadienyllithium (PBDLi) with di(2-pyridyl) ketone(DPK) using a living anionic polymerization method in the Ar-glove box. Living polymeric lithiums with low molecular weights (Mw=1000~2000 g/mol) were used to investigate the chain end-functionalization yield with DPK and the degree of coupling reaction by the attack of organolithium to the pyridine ring in the presence of TMEDA using GPC, $^1H$-NMR, $^{13}C$ analysis. DPK-terminated PBD exhibited much higher functionalization yield and less amount of coupling reaction compared with DPK-terminated PS. 86% functionalization yield with 9% degree of coupling was obtained when the PBDLi was added dropwise to DPK solution at room temperature. The functionalization yield was increased as the reaction temperature decreased, however, no LiCl effect was observed in this chain end-functionalization reaction with DPK.
The dynamic surface tension of GL12 (easily biodegradable nonionic surfactant and mild to skin), LAS and SLES aqueous solutions and that of mixed surfactant systems were measured by the maximum bubble pressure method at different mixing ratios. The effects of various salt such as NaCl, CsCl and urea on the dynamic surface tension of mixed surfactant systems were also studied. The dynamic surface tension of GL12 was not influenced by the presence of salts. On the contrary, the dynamic surface tensions of anionic surfactants (LAS and SLES) were significantly affected by the salts. In the mixed surfactant systems, the effect of salt increased as the composition of anionic LAS or SLES increased in the GL12/LAS and GL12/SLES mixtures.
Monomer casting nylons were synthesized by casting anionic polymerization of ${\varepsilon}$-caprolactam. Polymerization rates, molecular weights of the products and the conversions were determined while varying the content of catalysts in the range of 0.2~0.6 mol% and 0.1~1.0 mol% for initiator. The polymerization rates were enhanced as the ratio of catalysts to initiator increased. The maximum molecular weight was observed when the ratio of catalysts to initiator was 0.8, and as the ratio increased the molecular weight decreased. On the other hand, when the ratio of catalysts to initiator was below 0.8, the conversions and the molecular weights were abruptly diminished due to the termination of growing chains.

In this study, the effect of zwitterionic surfactant on Cu electrodeposition was investigated through cyclic voltammetry. With the addition of (dodecyldimethylammonio)propanesulfonate (DDAPS) as a representative zwitterionic surfactant in the electrolyte for Cu electrodeposition, the electrochemical Cu2+ reduction was inhibited on Cu and glassy carbon electrodes. Its inhibition effect was similar to that of cationic surfactant rather than anionic surfactant. Moreover, DDAPS interacted with chloride ion and exhibited the mass transfer-dependent inhibition behavior, which indicates that its inhibition function is associated with the formation of its surface aggregates on anion-covered Cu surface. In addition, adsorbed DDAPS slightly reduced the surface roughness of Cu electrodeposits. These characteristics were similar to those of cationic surfactant, but less obvious. It means the effect of DDAPS on Cu electrodeposition originates from the cationic head group which is shield by anionic head group.
