용접 각 변형량 해석해를 이용한 용접 공정변수 최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study on an Optimization of Welding Process Parameters by using an Analytic Solution for the Welding Angular Distortion)

  • Welding distortion is a current issue in many industrial parts, especially for heavy industry such as shipbuilding, plant industry. The welding process has many processing parameters influencing welding angular distortion such as heat input power, welding speed, gas flow rate, plate thickness and the welded material properties, etc. In this work, the conventional local minimization concept was applied to find a set of optimum welding process parameters, consisted of welding speed, plate thickness and heat input, for a minimum angular distortion. An analytic solution for welding angular distortion, which is based on laminated plate theory, was also applied to investigate and optimize the welding process parameters. The optimized process parameters and the angular distortion for various parametric conditions could be easily found by using the local minimum concept.

Dependence of solar proton peak flux on 3-dimensional CME parameter

  • In the present study, we examine the dependence of solar proton peak flux at SOHO and STEREO on 3-D CME parameters (radial speed, angular width, and longitudinal angular separation between its source region and the magnetic footpoints of spacecraft). For this we consider 38 proton enhancements of 16 SEP events observed by SOHO, STEREO-A, and/or B from 2010 August to 2013 June. As a result, we find that the enhancements are strongly dependent on these three parameters. The correlation coefficient between proton peak flux and CME speed is about 0.42 for the cases the footpoints are located inside the lateral boundaries of angular widths, while there is no correlation for the events outside the boundaries. The correlation coefficient between peak flux and angular separation is -0.51. We find that most of strong proton events occur when their angular separations are closer to zero, supporting that most of the proton fluxes are generated near the CME noses rather than their flanks.

  • Creep damage is one of the mosl important characteristics for the stability of high temperature structures such as huge energy converting facilities. Creep failure of Type 316LN stainless steel is highly correlated to generation and growth of the voids. In this paper, in order to investigate the correlation of creep rupture time and ultrasonic parameters (group velocity, angular velocity), creep-damaged Type 316LN specimens and measurements for the ultrasonic parameters were made. However, bi-directional measurements were applied along the load direction and the perpendicular direction to the load line by means of the contact type probe of which the central frequencies are 10MHz, 15MHz and 20MHz. Analyzing the angular velocities of the ultrasonic signals obtained from the load direction, it was confirmed that the angular velocities were declined as the creep time passed when 15MHz and 20MHz probes were used. Also, the group velocities were declined for all three frequencies as the creep time increased. Thus, positive feasibility for the creep damage evaluation by means of the angular and group velocities was confirmed. Moreover, result of analysis for the ultrasonic signal which was obtained from the perpendicular direction upon the angular and group velocities indicated little variation for both of the angular and group velocities. Therefore, the creep damage is likely to represent anisotropic itself.

Structural performance of concrete containing fly ash based lightweight angular aggregates

  • The present investigation deals with the production of the innovative lightweight fly ash angular aggregates (FAA) first time in India using local class 'F' fly ash, its characterization, and exploring the potential for its utilization as alternative coarse aggregates in structural concrete applications. Two types of aggregates are manufactured using two different kinds of binders. The manufacturing process involves mixing fly ash, binder, and water, followed by the briquetting process, sintering and crushing them into suitable size aggregates. Tests are conducted on fly ash angular aggregates to measure their physical properties such as crushing value, impact value, specific gravity, water absorption, bulk density, and percentage of voids. Study shows that the physical parameters are significantly enhanced as compared to commercially available fly ash pellets (FAP). The developed FAA are used in concrete vis-à-vis conventional granite aggregates and FAP to determine their compressive, split tensile and flexural strengths. Although being lightweight, the strength parameters for concrete containing FAA are well compared with conventional concrete. This might be due to the high pozzolanic reaction between fly ash angular aggregates and cement paste. Also, RCC beams are cast and the load-deflection behaviour and ultimate load carrying capacity signify that FAA can be suitably used for RCC construction. Hence, the utilization of fly ash as angular aggregates can reduce the dead load of the structure and at the same time serves as a solution for fly ash disposal and mineral depletion problem.

  • This paper describes a simple vector control scheme for the wound rotor type induction motors(WRIM) without the additional speed sensor in order to remove the external resistor bank which is usually adapted for the WRIM speed control. The motor angular speed is obtained indirectly from the slip angular speed is obtained indirectly from the slip angular speed and the slip angular speed is estimated by detecting the rotor currents only. Because the motor parameters are not included in the estimation algorithm, the proposed algorithm is free from the variation of the motor parameters and the robust sensorless vector control can be achieved. The performance of the proposed scheme is verified through the digital simulation.

Dependence of the peak fluxes of solar energetic particles on CME parameters and magnetic connectivity

  • We investigate the relationships between the peak fluxes of 18 solar energetic particle (SEP) events and associated coronal mass ejection (CME) 3D parameters (speed, angular width, and separation angle) obtained from SOHO, STEREO-A and/or B for the period from 2010 August to 2013 June. We apply the STEREO CME Analysis Tool (StereoCAT) to the SEP-associated CMEs to obtain 3D speeds and 3D angular widths. The separation angles are determined as the longitudinal angle between flaring regions and magnetic footpoints of the spacecraft, which are calculated by the assumption of Parker spiral field. The main results are as follows. 1) We find that the dependence of the SEP peak fluxes on CME 3D speed from multi-spacecraft is similar to that on 2D CME speed. 2) There is a positive correlation between SEP peak flux and 3D angular width from multi-spacecraft, which is much more evident than the relationship between SEP peak flux and 2D angular width. 3) There is a noticeable anti-correlation (r=-0.62) between SEP peak flux and separation angle. 4) The multiple regression method between SEP peak fluxes and CME parameters shows that the longitudinal separation angle is the most important parameter, and the CME 3D speed is secondary on SEP peak flux.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the angular velocity of forearm pronation/supination movement in Parkinson's disease patients, as a quantitative measure of the bradykinesia. Thirteen Parkinson's disease patients ($64{\pm}11.0$ yrs, male:6, female:7) participated in the experiments. The subjects' both right and left forearms were scored by a rater according to rapid alternating movement of hands category in the UPDRS (unified Parkinson's disease rating scale) and the angular velocity of forearm pronation/supination was measured at the same time. As analysis parameters, RMS (root mean square) angular velocity and RMS angle were used. The parameters showed negative correlation with the clinical score (RMS angular velocity: r= - 0.914, RMS angle: r= -0.749). The RMS angular velocity of all clinical scales were significantly different one another except for the non significant difference between those of scale 3 and 4. RMS angle of scale 0 was significantly different from those of scale 2, 3, 4 and that of scale 1 was significantly different from those of scale 3 and 4. This suggests that RMS angular velocity can be used for a quantitative measure of bradykinesia in motor examination.

무지 외반증 각변형에 대한 디지털영상의 전산화 계측: 100%와 150% 확대영상에서의 계측비교 (Computerized Measurement on Angular Parameters for Hallux Valgus: Comparison of 100% and 150% Magnified Digital Radiography)

  • Purpose: To study computerized measurements of angular parameters on 100% and 150% resized digital radiography of hallux valgus deformity Materials and Methods: 30 digital radiography of standing foot anteroposterior view of hallux valgus patients were included. Two observers(A, B) independently measured hallux valgus angle (HVA), 1-2 intermetatarsal angle (IMA), and distal metatarsal articular angle (DMAA) in two times on both 100%-size and 150% magnified images respectively, using computerized measurement software tools. The results were interpreted with the statistical software program, Statistical Analysis System, version 9.2. Results: In repeated measurements of each observer, measurements on 150% magnified image showed no differences of all three parameters and with 100%-size image, there were differences of HVA (observer A) and 1-2 IMA (observer B) (p>0.05). When testing interobserver reliability, both observers showed differences in measurement of HVA and DMAA (p<0.05), but no differences in measurement of 1-2 IMA in both images. Within the 95% confidence interval, limits of error of measurements between two observers on HVA, IMA and DMAA were $2.7^{\circ}$ $1.4^{\circ}$ and $5.0^{\circ}$ respectively in 100%-size images, and $2.6^{\circ}$, $1.6^{\circ}$ and $4.7^{\circ}$ respectively in 150% magnified images. Conclusion: In computerized measurements for angular parameters of hallux valgus with digital radiography, 150% magnified images showed intraobserver reliability. Both 100% and 150% magnified images failed to show interobserver reliability. Measurement of 1-2 IMA in both 100% and 150% images showed less interobserver error.

Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Control Algorithm Based on Stability Margin and Lyapunov Stability Analysis

  • The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is widely used in various fields and the proportional-integral (PI) controller is popular in PMSM control systems. However, the motor parameters are usually unknown, which can lead to a complicated PI controller design and poor performance. In order to design a PI controller with good performance when the motor parameters are unknown, a control algorithm based on stability margin is proposed in this paper. First of all, based on the mathematical model of the PMSM and the least squares (LS) method, motor parameters are estimated offline. Then based on the estimation values of the motor parameters, natural angular frequency and phase margin, a PI controller is designed. Performance indices including the natural angular frequency and the phase margin are used directly to design the PI controller in this paper. Scalar functions of the d-loop and the q-loop are selected. It can be seen that the designed controller parameters satisfy Lyapunov large scale asymptotic stability theory if the natural angular frequencies of the d-loop and the q-loop are large than 0. Experimental results show that the parameter estimation method has good accuracy and the designed PI controller proposed in this paper has good static and dynamic performances.

SAGE 알고리즘을 이용한 MIMO 채널 파라미터 추정과 분석 (Estimation and Analysis of MIMO Channel Parameters using the SAGE Algorithm)

  • 본 논문은 다중 경로 다중입력 (Multiple-input multiple-output : MIMO) 채널에서 space alternating generalized expectation-maximization(SAGE) 알고리즘을 이용하여 채널 파라미터 추정 성능을 확인한다. 성능을 비교하기 위해 781 대역의 제주도 측정지역에서의 채널 파라미터로부터 시변 채널 환경 채널 파라미터 추정을 SAGE 알고리즘을 통해 추정하고 원본 데이터와 비교한다. 이를 통해 SAGE 알고리즘의 성능을 확인할 수 있으며 일반적인 파라미터 계산보다 SAGE 알고리즘을 통해 추정하는 것이 지연 확산(Delay Spread), 도래각 확산(Arrive of Angular Spread)이 적어 정확 측면에서 성능이 뛰어나고 안정적이다.
