Barred-spiral galaxies possess double patterns: a bar and spiral arms. While their angular speeds play an important role in governing gas dynamical evolution of barred spiral galaxies, there is no direct way to observe them. The Tremaine-Weinberg (TW) method has been one of the most reliable indirect methods to estimate pattern speeds, although it requires a few strict assumptions, notably one that the gas tracer is in a quasi-steady state. In barred-spiral galaxies, however, non-steady gas flows are significant especially when the double patterns have different angular speeds. Using numerical models, we explore the effect of non-steady gas motions on the determination of double pattern speeds based on the TW method. We find that the TW method is accurate within 15% when there is only a single pattern or when double patterns have the same angular speed. When double patterns have different speeds, on the other hand, neglecting the non-steady flows leads to quite large errors (> 30%) in the derived pattern speeds, and severely underestimate the real values for the viewing angle parallel to the bar minor axis. This suggests that one should be cautious when applying the TW method to galaxies with double patterns with different speeds.
In this paper, we propose an orientation tracking method and a digestion path model based on angular displacement. The proposed method expresses a capsule's orientation as 3-dimension vectors and its rotation angle. Errors in roll, pitch, and yaw representing capsule's orientation information is down to $1.6^{\circ}$. Using the proposed method we can measure a roll which is not Possible to be measured using the magnetic field method. We reduce algorithm complexity lower than a previous methods based on Euler angle.

A new and efficient algorithm for the integration of the thermal-elasto-plastic constitutive equation is proposed. While it falls into the category of the return mapping method, the algorithm adopts the three point approximation of plastic corrector within one time increment step. The results of its application to a von Mises-type thermal-elasto-plastic model with combined hardening and temperature-dependent material properties show that the accurate iso-error maps are obtained for both angular and radial errors. The accuracy achieved is because the predicted stress increment in a single step calculation follows the exact value closely not only at the end of the step but also through the whole path. Also, the comparison of the computational time for the new and other algorithms shows that the new one is very efficient.

For compensating the error motion of hydrostatic tables, we have introduced a way that the clarance of table is actively controlled corresponding to the amount of error with the nariable capillary, anmed as ACC. In previous paper, through the basic test, it was confirmed that by the use of ACC,the error motion within 2.7 .mu.m of a hydrostatic table could be compensated with the resolution of 27nm, 1/100 contollable range, and with the freqency bandwidth of 5.5Hz structurally. In this paper,we performed practital compensation of the linear and angular motion error of hydrostatic table using ACC. For improving the compensated motion accuracy, iterative control method is put into the control system. The experimental results show that by the simultaneous compensation of error, the linear and angular motion error are improved upto 0.25 .mu.m and 0.4arcsec,which are about 1/10 and 1/3 of the non-compensated motion errors respectively.

Effectiveness of corrective machining algorithm is verified experimentally in this paper by performing corrective lapping work to single side and double sides hydrostatic tables. Lapping is applied as machining method. Machining information is calculated from measured motion errors by applying the algorithm, without information on rail profile. It is possible to acquire 0.13pm of linear motion error, 1.40arcsec of angular motion error in the case of single side table, and 0.07pm of linear motion error, 1.42arcsec of angular motion error in the case of double sides table. The experiment is performed by the unskilled person after he experienced a little of preliminary machining. Experimental results show that corrective machining algorithm is very effective, and anyone can improve the accuracy of hydrostatic table by using the algorithm.

This paper presents a detailed derivation of the equations of motion for the stable member of a four-axis platform. Gimbal bearing friction is considered for motion analysis. First, dynamic characteristics of platform, gimbal and gyro with Coulomb friction are studied due to vehicle's angular motion. Second, Vehicle's motion is assumed the sinusoidal function and dynamic characteristics of platform, gimbal and gyro are studied. Conclusively, considering effects of Coulomb friction, they could not follow the vehicle's angular motion and have constant errors. In case of sinusoidal motion, relative angles for each gimbal are amplified, but they are sinusoidal function with almost the same phases.

The out-of-squareness is one of the error sources that affect the positioning accuracy of machine tools and coordinate measuring machines. Laser interferometer is widely used to measure the position and angular errors, and can measure the squareness using an optical square. However, the squareness measurement using the laser interferometer is difficult, as compared to other errors due to complicated optics setup and Abbe's error occurrence. The effect of out-of-squareness mainly appears at the face-diagonal of the movable plane. The diagonal displacements are also affected by the position dependent geometric errors. In this study, the squareness estimation techniques via diagonal displacement measurement using the laser interferometer without an optical square were proposed. For accurate estimation and measurement time reduction, the errors selected from proposed discriminant were measured. Discrepancy between the proposed technique with the laser interferometer (with an optical square) result was $0.6{\mu}rad$.

Although laser interferometer measurement system has advantages of measurement range and accuracy, it has some disadvantages when measurement of multi degrees of freedom of motion are required. Because the traditional error measurement methods for geometric errors (two straightness and three angular errors) of a slide of machine tools measures error components one at a time. It may also create an optical path difference and affect the measurement accuracy. In order to identify and compensate for geometric errors of a moving rigid body in real time processes, an on-line error measurement system for simultaneous detection of the five error components of a moving object is required. Using laser alignment technique and some optoelectronic components, an on-line measurement system with 5 degrees of freedom was developed for the geometric error detection in this study Performance verification of the system has been performed on an error generating mechanism. Experimental results show the feasibility of this system for identifying geometric errors of a slide of machine tools.

For improving the motion accuracy of hydrostatic tables, a corrective machining algorithm is proposed in this paper. The algorithm consists of three main processes. The reverse analysis is performed firstly to estimate the rail profile from the measured linear and angular motion error, in the algorithm. For the next step, the corrective machining information is obtained based upon the estimated rail pronto. Finally, the motion errors on the correctively machined rail are analyzed by using the motion error analysis method. These processes are iterated until the analyzed motion errors are satisfactory within the target accuracy. In order to verify the validity of the algorithm theoretically, the motion errors calculated by the estimated rail after the corrective machining process, are compared with those by the true rail which is previously assumed as the initially measured value. The motion errors calculated using the estimated rail show good agreement with the assumed values, and it is shown that the algorithm is effective in acquiring the corrective machining information to improve the accuracy of hydrostatic tables.

Despite the wide industrial applications of planetary gear trains, the relationship between the design parameters (tooth profile, carrier mass, etc.) and performance (strength, vibration, noise, etc.) remains poorly understood. A significant amount of research has focused on transmission errors, which are measurable performance indicators directly related to the design parameters. Herein, an experimental test rig for a single-stage planetary gear set built using digital angular encoders and gap sensors is described. To study the static and dynamic characteristics of this planetary gear train, the transmission errors and sun gear orbit are analyzed from the data measured under various levels of torque and speed. The transmission errors of the gear train decrease 40% when the speed increases from 30 to 600 rpm with an output torque of 39.2 Nm, and increase 22% when the output torque increases from 19.6 to 39.2 Nm with an input speed of 30 rpm.
