Generic User Interface Model for Multi-Platform (다중플랫폼을 위한 제너릭 사용자 인터페이스 모델)

  • Smart Phone market consists of several platforms such as Windows Phone, Apple iOS and Android of Google. Each platform uses different coding style respectively. Platform-dependent application results in high cost and low code reusability during development of application. It also provides heterogeneous display forms to users. In this paper, we propose a platform-independent generic interface model that could be operated in both the various smart phones and PC. Because the proposed model provides the same UI on multiple platforms, users can operate applications without awkwardness. The model includes a module which copes with the changes of the resolutions in various platforms and a module which switches scenes of each application for performance improvement. Moreover, a module which connects DB is also proposed in order to overcome the difference of way to store data in each platform. The implementation results show that the difference of display and operating manner in any hetero-platform is eliminated.

Smart Elderly-care System using Smart-phone (스마트폰을 이용한 고령자용 스마트 간병 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a system to monitor the condition of elderly people who are uncomfortable by using smart-phone and biometric sensor at any time and for care-givers to provide with the best medical service anytime and anywhere. The proposed system monitors the status of the elderly through various bionic sensors installed in the hospital ward based on the Arduino system and not only provides the physiological and medical services required by the elderly, but also informs the guardian so that he can cope with the emergency. In conclusion, this paper suggests that a reading light used by elderly people can operate as a home server with a biosensor using Arduino and Android applications (Apps.), and the smart-phone of care-givers is configured as a remote management and a emergency call system. Therefore, this study suggests important ways to improve the satisfaction of medical service for the both elderly people and care-givers of chronic diseases in the future.

Implementation of A Mobile Application for Spam SMS Filtering Using Set-Based POI Search Algorithm (집합 기반 POI 검색 알고리즘을 활용한 스팸 메시지 판별 모바일 앱 구현)

  • By the growing of SMS phishing victims, applications for processing spam messages are being released in succession. However most spam messages that cleverly modified the content like separating the consonants and vowels are fail to be filtered. In this paper, we implemented an application 'AntiSpam' which is able to identify spam strings in the text message to solve this problem. 'AntiSpam' searches spam strings in the text message by using set-based POI search algorithm, and then calculate the possibility of whether it is spam or not in accordance with the search results. In addition, it catches skillfully disguised spam messages in order to avoid missing the spam filtering. Users, who received a message, can check the result in spam message possibility decision result and the contents of the message and they can choose how to handling the message.

  • This paper focuses on developing a smartphone-based mobile office system for a logistics company in Korea using HTML5. Mobile office is smart working environment of working out of a company office using mobile devices such as smartphones and portable computers which are connected to the company servers via WiFi or 3G/4G. Recently many companies are introducing mobile office information systems with the smartphone wave, but they are having difficulties in maintaining and updating their systems due to the transformative mobile application platform. Therefore, we need a platform-independent implementation tools for the mobile office application and HTML5 is one of the solution tools. In this paper, we develop mobile and web applications applicable to all kinds of mobile devices such as iOS, android and windows mobile etc using HTML5. The proposed mobile office system consists of groupware, marketing management, reporting module and transportation management system.

A Study on Smishing Block of Android Platform Environment (안드로이드 플랫폼 환경에서의 스미싱 차단에 관한 연구)

  • As financial transactions with a smartphone has become increasing, a myriad of security threats have emerged against smartphones. Among the many types of security threats, Smishing has evolved to be more sophisticated and diverse in design. Therefore, financial institutions have recommended that users doesn't install applications with setting of "Unknown sources" in the system settings menu and install application which detects Smishing. Unfortunately, these kind of methods come with their own limitations and they have not been very effective in handling Smishing. In this paper, we propose a systematic method to detect Smishing, in which the RIL(Radio Interface Layer) collects a text message received and then, checks if message databases stores text message in order to determine whether Smishing malware has been installed on the system. If found, a system call (also known as a hook) is used to block the outgoing text message generated by the malware. This scheme was found to be effective in preventing Smishing as found in our implementation.

Development of Rule-Based Malicious URL Detection Library Considering User Experiences (사용자 경험을 고려한 규칙기반 악성 URL 탐지 라이브러리 개발)

  • The malicious URLs which can be used for sending malicious codes and illegally acquiring private information is one of the biggest threat of information security field. Particularly, recent prevalence of smart-phone increases the possibility of the user's exposing to malicious URLs. Since the way of hiding the URL from the user is getting more sophisticated, it is getting harder to detect it. In this paper, after conducting a survey of the user experiences related to malicious URLs, we are proposing the rule-based malicious URL detection method. In addition, we have developed java library which can be applied to any other applications which need to handle the malicious URL. Each class of the library is implementation of a rule for detecting a characteristics of a malicious URL and the library itself is the set of rule which can have the chain of rule for deteciing more complicated situation and enhancing the accuracy. This kinds of rule based approach can enhance the extensibility considering the diversity of malicious URLs.

A Synchronization Technique for Android Multivision Applications with Multiple Smart Devices (안드로이드 기반의 다중 기기에서의 동영상 동시 재생을 위한 동기화 기법)

  • Smart electronics are now widely used in everyday life, but the size of the screen of such devices is still too small to fully enjoy multimedia content. Therefore, if the display is comprised of multiple views produced by multiple smart devices, then the screen output size can increase. However, a time delay between the devices can generate a discordance in the video and sound. This paper compares two synchronization techniques that can be used to minimize such a time delay, and proposes a synchronization technique in which, the timing of the screen for each device is calculated by synchronizing the playback time, using the timing information transferred from the control device, and periodically adjusting the playback timing forward or backward. When multimedia content is reproduced using multiple views from multiple smart devices, we can minimize the time delay, regardless of the network quality or the differences in the devices used for this technique.

Implementation of Android application to judge the daily route deviation via the GPS information on smart phones (스마트폰의 GPS 정보를 이용한 일상 경로 이탈 판단 어플리케이션 구현)

  • As smart phone is daily used by most people, various location-based applications have been developed. Moreover, it is increased the requirements of location-based services that utilize Google maps, GPS sensing information and etc.. In this paper, we develop a smart phone application providing notification services by detecting the daily route deviation. We develop the server system which receives GPS information gathering from user's smart phone and analyse the user's regular routes. With the results from the analyzation the GPS coordinates, the application on a smart phone detects the case of a breakaway from regular routes. And then it can inform automatically and immediately the designed person such as guardians of children or the old and the infirm of the route deviation so will be helpful to protect such person. This is one example of the effectiveness of the application. Moreover, the application is developed on the client-server framework, thus it is very useful to judge the user's daily route deviation in realtime by using the accumulated information on the corresponding DB. Finally we evaluated the proposed methods which had been implemented on smart phones and show the utilities of the application.

BLE-OTP Authorization Mechanism for iBeacon Network Security (iBeacon 네트워크 보안을 위한 BLE-OTP 인증 메커니즘)

  • Machine to Machine (M2M) technology has gained attention due to the fast diffusion of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and smart devices. Most wireless network experts believe that Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Communications technology in an iBeacon network has amazing advantages in terms of providing communication services at a low cost in smartphone applications. Specifically, BLE does not require any pairing process during its communication phases, so it is possible to send a message to any node without incurring additional transmissions costs if they are within the BLE communication range. However, BLE does not require any security verification during communication, so it has weak security. Therefore, a security authorization process would be necessary to obtain customer confidence. To provide security functions for iBeacon, we think that the iBeacon Message Encryption process and a Decryption (Authorization) process should be designed and implemented. We therefore propose the BLE message Authorization Mechanism based on a One Time Password Algorithm (BLE-OTP). The effectiveness of our mechanism is evaluated by conducting a performance test on an attendance system based on BLE-OTP.

Introduction to the New Version of PWS Application and It's Use in Medical Practice

  • Today's mobile phones and tablet PCs offer a considerably wider range of functionalities than before. Mobile applications (apps) are increasingly used for managing various daily health tasks. Currently, more than 165,000 health-related apps are offered on all the stores of different platforms. Pf Jin and the Association for Research on MPS and Rare Diseases (AMARD) have helped Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) families through medical information and family support since 2015. AMARD developed the first mobile application for Korean patients with PWS, which was released to a limited number of patients under the age of 3 and only provided to Android users. The first version of the PWS application focused on growth hormone therapy and the assessment of growth and development by parents in infant and early-childhood PWS patients. The 2016 version of the PWS application has been improved in many different ways. We have expanded the subjects of the application to late childhood and adolescent groups, changed the user interface accordingly, and made the application available for iOS users. We will show the specialized growth curves of older children with PWS. Therefore, patients with PWS over the age of 3 and their parents can assess the patients' growth. Additionally, we have upgraded the growth hormone therapy menu by improving the input system for the growth hormone therapy injection schedule and the daily growth profile (height and weight). We expect that the new version of the PWS application will help many PWS families cope with growth hormone therapy and evaluate the effects of growth hormones in better ways. Additionally, we are making a constant effort to provide more useful information about patients with PWS in many aspects.
