  • Presently SmartPhone users over the 15 million are expected to exceed 20 million people by the end of the year. The prevalence of SmartPhone has brought positive results with a new paradigm. But, It makes a result that SmartPhone user should concentrate on mobile device and interpersonal relationships are avoided. In this paper, we design and implement user network services that use a same application using located information based on android.

  • Recently Android apps utilizing location based services are widely used. Understanding the operation of the GPS location provider, among various location providers supported in the Android platform, is an essential task for developers using the Android. This paper, based on the analysis of source codes of the GPS subsystem in the Android platform, shows clearly and orderly the operation of the GPS location provider, in key threads' perspectives as well as in a stepwise fashion from the initialization up to the final location report steps.

  • Recently, users using social network service(SNS) with smart phone as well as users using smart phone are so rapidly increasing. In this paper, Android based local SNS system is proposed and developed. The main feature and contribution are as follows. First, the proposed SNS system is developed based on smart phone Android for supporting both the search of neighbor users and the addition of friends to start SNS with Web/DB. Second, the system is designed with the unchanged basic UI of Android and user oriented approach. The performance evaluation is performed by using OPTIMUS-Q/ANDROID 2.1. The results of performance evaluation show that the proposed SNS system can efficiently support the neighbor search services by using android based bluetooth neighbor search. Currently, we are still ongoing working on bluetooth autofaring in android to improve the performance of the proposed system.

  • In the maritime field, desktop-based ENC systems and services have been used for supporting the safe navigation of ship. However, with increasing level of needs for mobile device-based marine information service, ENC systems that provides basis for maritime service needs to be ported to mobile device. It is difficult to directly port desktop ENC system to the mobile devices, because the system operating environment and methods such as process management and memory management of the mobile devices are different from the desktop. In this paper, we analyze the characteristics of the Android-based mobile devices. Based on this, during porting process of desktop-based ENC system to android system, we modified and improved the display module with the characteristics of Android-based mobile devices in mind.

  • In this research, we developed an practical service module as a application which operating on the smart phones based on the Android operating system. The service module supports on the voice processing function and inquiry windows also. After some documents and screens related on system analysis, service module are designed and implemented. The details about these modules are explained. We can expect to enhance the learning effects of english words memorizing competence for smart-phone users.

  • Existing Android applications for streaming video in real time are dependent on the codec, which composes the encoding function, and the version of Android operating system. Also, for streaming video in real time, most applications should be connected with a separate desktop PC. To overcome these disadvantages, we propose a new application, which records and streams video in real time. Specifically, the proposed application uses the flash video file format, which is the common media file format supported by various versions of Android operating system. Through experiments, we show that it is possible for the proposed application to record the video screens more than 20 frames per second and to stream it in real time while using the existing video encoding methods.

  • This paper suggests a method of developing live media streaming service through Linux server system on android system environment. The android application constructed in the experiment is able to record media while sending it to Linux server. Generated real time media data is send to linux server through Multipart Request class of Apache Tomcat server constructed on Linux system. Also in this research, by utilizing Android video player and media player class, development of android application structures was accomplished, which has methods of; playing live media stream data on video server, or playing live media stream data while saving stream data in cache. The structure and function of suggested system and application is confirmed by series of experiments.

  • Today, although most bluetooth hands-free devices within a vehicle provide telephone service functions such as voice communication, caller id display and SMS message display and so on, they do not provide a function that displays Internet-based text data. We need to develop a scheme that displays the internet-based text data including existing hands-free function because the request for using the Internet service is increasing within a vehicle recently. The proposed bluetooth device application includes advanced function such as SNS message arrival notification, the message display function and we chose Android as the implementation mobile platform giving consideration to the fact that most SNS applications operate on Android and the platform is easily embedded into small embedded device. Smartphone or tablet PC connected with the proposed bluetooth device is an Android-based device and we designed a form of Android app for the function implementation of the devices. When the audio-text gateway app receives SNS text data, it extracts title and sender information from the message header information in a form of text data and sends them via ACL (Asynchronous Connection-Oriented) link to the bluetooth device showing the data on the screen. Android-based bluetooth devices are not possible to play voice through speaker because the bluetooth hands-free or headset profile ported within Android platform normally only includes audio gateway's function. The proposed bluetooth device application, therefore, applies the streaming scheme that sends data via ACL link instead of the way that sending them via SCO (Synchronous Connection-Oriented) link.

  • According to the scale of mobile applications has been expanded, the high coupled application combined mobile and web service are growing. The growth of mobile application's size means that predicting design for variability should be involved. If mobile application's change is occurred, application should be reinstalled totally. However this reinstallation can raise side-effects in case of high-coupling application. Therefore, this paper proposes a technique of customization for changing web service protocol as the mobile applications are connected with web service in android platform. Proposed protocol customization technique is consist of selection and plug-in technique.
