  • The authors have investigated the acoustic field analysis using the Constrained Interpolation Profile(CIP) Method recently proposed by Yabe. The present study has examined the calculation accuracy of the three-dimensional (3-D) acoustic field analysis using the type-M CIP method. In this paper we show phase error of type-M CIP method and the dependence on the wave-propagation direction in the type-M CIP acoustic field analysis, and then demonstrate that it is effective for acoustic field analysis, compared with the FDTD and the exact solution. We show the dependency on the propagation angle in the CIP acoustic field analysis.

  • The major purpose of this study is to determine the dynamic behavior of soil-pile-structure interaction system considering the underground cavity. For the analysis, a numerical method fur ground response analysis using FE-BE coupling method is developed. The total system is divided into two parts so called far field and near field. The far field is modeled by boundary element formulation using the multi-layered dynamic fundamental solution that satisfied radiational condition of wave. And this is coupled with near field modeled by finite elements. For the verification of dynamic analysis in the frequency domain, both forced vibration analysis and free-field response analysis are performed. The behavior of soil non-linearity is considered using the equivalent linear approximation method. As a result, it is shown that the developed method can be an efficient numerical method to solve the seismic response analysis considering the underground cavity in 2D problem.

  • The velocity and temperature profiles in the cabin of the automobile affect greatly the comfortableness of passengers. In this paper, the three dimensional flow and temperature analysis in the cabin of real automobile have been peformed. The three dimensional Navier-Stokes equation solver was validated by comparing with the other numerical data of a 1/5 scale model. The temperature field of cavity was also analyzed for the validation of energy equation solver. After the code validation, the numerical analysis of real field of flow and temperature of an automobile was peformed and the present result provides the insight of flow and temperature field of the inside of cabin.

  • In this study, a numerical method is developed for nonlinear analysis for soil-pile-structure interaction system in time domain. Finite elements considering material nonlinearity are used for the near field and boundary elements for the far field. In the near field, frame elements are used for modeling a pile and plane-strain elements for surrounding soil and superstructure. In. the far field, boundary element formulation using the dynamic fundamental solution is adopted and coupled with the near field. Transformation of stiffness matrices of boundary elements into time domain is performed by inverse FFT. Stiffness matrices in the near field and far field are coupled. Newmark direct time integration method is applied. Developed soil-pile-structure interaction analysis method is verified with available literature and commercial code. Also, parametric studies by developed numerical method are performed. And seismic response analysis is performed using actual earthquake records.

  • Flow-field design has much influence over the performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) because it affects the pressure magnitude and distribution of the reactant gases. To obtain the pressure magnitude and distribution of reactant gases in four kinds of flow-field designs without additional measurement equipment, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was performed. After the CFD analysis, the performance values of PEMFC according to the flow-field configurations were measured via a single cell test. As expected, the pressure differences due to different flow-field configurations were related to the PEMFC performance because the actual performance results showed the same tendency as the results of the CFD analysis. A large pressure drop resulted in high PEMFC performance. So, the single serpentine configuration gave the highest performance. On the other hand, the parallel flow-field configuration gave the lowest performance because the pressure difference between inlet and outlet was the lowest.

  • It is necessary to know the accurate field distribution around the high power apparatus, in designing it. To calculate the field around electrodes, we use the Charge Simulation Method(CSM) among several numerical methods and develop the new \"Field Analysis System\", by which we can draw the shape of electrodes, save the drawing in ascii code and apply CSM on the data. In the Field Analysis System, we try several rules for arrangement of simulation charge on CSM and consider their accuracy. At firs we simulate the case with simple electrode geometry and consider the adequacy of the rules. With tole field Analysis System applied the rules, we simulate the main electrode of load switchgear. As a result of the simulation, equipotential line, flux line and field strength on male electrode are drawn.

  • In this paper, flux distribution and operating current is calculated according to the field coil change in HTS(High Temperature Superconducting) motor. In order to calculate magnetic field characteristic of the field coil. it is computed by changing the outer radius and the inner width of field coil Bio-Savart equation is used as the analysis method for the characteristic analysis of magnet. 2D and 3D FEA(Finite Element Analysis) is used for the magnetic field distribution in HTS motor The operating current is calculated by $B{\bot}$ linked With the field coil and $I_c-B curve of superconductor.

  • This paper reports the development of an analysis method in a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) using the finite element method (FEM) coupled with the electromagnetic field of the Preisach model, which represents an additional thermal source due to hysteresis loss and a thermal field. This study focused on thermal analysis relative to hysteresis and copper losses in a SynRM.

  • This paper deals with magnetic field analysis and computation of cogging torque using an analytical method in Interior Permanent Magnet Motor (IPMM). The magnetic field is analyzed by solving space harmonics field analysis due to magnetizing and the cogging torque is analyzed by combining field analysis with relative permeance. In reducing cogging torque, the inferences of various design variable and magnetizing distribution are investigated. It is shown that the slot and pole ratio (the pole-arc / pole-pitch ratio) combination has a significant effect on the cogging torque and presents a optimal flux barrier shape to reduce the cogging torque. The validity of the proposed technique is confirmed with 2-D Finite Element(FE) analysis.
