The effect of nozzle characterristics on the mist-cooling heat transfer was investigated under the various flow conditions. Two different types of twin fluid nozzle were used, one is a $90^{\circ}$ angle tip nozzle with needle and the other is a $90^{\circ}$ angle tip non-needle nozzle. The cooling rate from the heated surface was measured and obtained the boiling curve as a function of surface temperature. An immersion sampling was employed for the measurement of droplet size of the spray. As a result of this experiment, the liquid sheet type nozzle shows better atomization when the mass ratio Mr>2.0, and collects more liquid droplets on the heated surface that results in better cooling effect. It was found that the maximum heat flux and heat transfer coefficient increased with increase in the volumetric flow rate, whereas the maximum heat flux decreased with increase in spray distance. The cooling effect depends upon the amount of collected droplet and droplet size, but it strongly depends upon the amount of collected droplet.

In this study, the effects of the various conditions of frosting and defrosting on the behavior of defrosting in a fin-tube heat exchanger have been examined experimentally. The electric heater is used for defrosting in a fin-tube heat exchanger It is shown that there are several local maxima in the water draining rate. The amount of residual water on the heat exchanger after the completion of defrosting is kept constant due to surface tension on the heat exchanger. Without considering the degradation of the thermal performance due to the frosting, the defrosting efficiency is improved with increasing amount of the frost irrespective of the frosting condition. The defrosting behavior is affected by the frosting density as well as the frost accumulation, which vary with the experimental operating conditions during the frosting period. The heat loss to the surrounding air decreases, and the melting and defrosting efficiencies show high values with decreasing heat input.
In this study, an experimental apparatus has been designed and set-up to analyse the dissociating phenomena of hydrate in porous rock using electric heating method supplied at downhole. The electric heat injecting experiments have been performed to investigate the heat transfer within the core, the dissociating phenomena of hydrate, and the productivities of dissociated gas and water. These experiments were under constant heat injecting method as well as preheating methods. From the experimental results, it is seen that the hydrates is dissociated along the phase equilibrium curve and dissociation of hydrate is accelerated with heat. The injected heat is consumed for the dissociation and also it is lost together with outflow of the dissociated gas and water. From the investigation of gas producing behavior for various heat injecting methods, as the injected heat is greater, dissociation is accelerated faster at outlet and hence the initial gas production becomes higher. Also, it is shown that the initial gas productivity under the constant heating method is better, however, the energy efficiency is low because of smaller amount of the produced gas comparing to the amount of heat injected. In the experiments of preheating method, it was seen that gas production only initial stage is different with the preheating time, but the producing behaviors of gas production are similar.

Besides, Space heating and hot water generation in Korea are based on fossil fuels, with a serious environmental impact. This study describes thermal performance of heating demonstration system using close-loop ground source heat pump installed at Korean minjok leadership academy. The results of the experimental study, it retrieve the investment cost for 3years 8months and reduction amount of $CO_2$are 293,900 $kgCO_2$.
This is the basic study in order to know the amount of transpirational water loss in a Larix leptorepis stand by a heat pulse method. Especially this study has been measured and discussed the diurnal and seasonal trends of heat pulse velocity by changes of radiation, temperature and humidity, differences of heat pulse velocity by direction and depth in stem, differences of heat pulse velocity by dominant, codominant and suppressed trees, diurnal change of heat pulse velocity by change of leaf water potential, sap flow path way in sapwood by dye penetration and amount of daily and annual transpiration in a tree and stand. The results obtained as follows : 1. Relation between heat pulse velocity(V) and sap flow rate(SFR) was established as a equation of SFR=1.37V($r=0.96^{**}$). 2. The sap flow rate presented in the order of dominant, codominant and suppressed tree, respectively. The daily heat pulse velocity was changed by radiation, temperature and vapor pressure deficit. 3. The heat pulse velocity in individual trees did not differ in early morning and in late night, but had some differed from 12 to 16 hours when radiation was relatively high. 4. The heat pulse velocity and leaf water potential showed similar diurnal variation. 5. The seasonal variation of heat pulse velocity was highest in August, but lowest in October and similar value of heat pulse velocity in the other months. 6. The heat pulse velocity in stem by direction was highest in eastern, but lowest in southern and similar velocity in western and northern. 7. The difference of heat pulse velocity in according to depths was highest in 2.0cm depth, medium in 1.0cm depth, and lowest in 3.0cm depth from surface of stem. 8. The sap flow path way in stem showed spiral ascent turning right pattern in five sample trees, especially showed little spiral ascent turning right in lower part than 3m hight above ground, but very speedy in higher than 3m hight. 9. The amount of sap flow(SF) was presented as a equation of SF=1.37AV and especially SF in dominant tree was larger than in codominant or suppressed tree. 10. The amount of daily transpiration was 30.8ton/ha/day and its composition ratio was 83% at day and 17% at night. 11. The amount of stand transpiration per month was largest in August(1,194ton/ha/month), lowest in May (386ton/ha/month). The amount of stand transpiration per year was 3,983ton/ha/year.
The characteristics of waste heat effluents from 11 industrial complexes of 7 areas were analyzed to investigate the possibility of waste heat recovery of huge amount of waste heat producing from various industrial complexes. This study presents a part of the research work for the industrial waste heat for development of energy integrated network system in broad city area, which will utilize industrial waste heat for residential and commercial areas, where they are located at some distances from the complexes. The amount of waste heat from the investigated complexes was detected as 148,913 TOE/year. However, It was analyzed 83% of the waste heat was analyzed the temperature range from 0$^{\circ}C$ to 200$^{\circ}C$. Also, it was evaluated that 82% of waste heat was exhausted by flue gases. Especially, the characteristics of waste heat for the areas where most heat concentrated, such as Tae-gu industrial complex, Ul-san petrochemitry complex, Yio-chun petrochemistry complex, and Chun-ju industrial complex were investigated more precisely. Total amount of waste heat discharged from these four areas were analyzed 114,402 TOE/year, which was occupied as 77% of the total waste heat for the studied areas, and 87% of the waste heat from the industries was exhausted by flue gaseous phase and temperature range was from 0$^{\circ}C$ to 200$^{\circ}C$ 18.1 million TOE/year waste heat was released from the fossil fuel power plants, however 95% of waste heat was analyzed as cooling water from surface condensers at power plants. The temperature range was measured from 27$^{\circ}C$ to 34$^{\circ}C$, which are unable to utilize due to its low temperature. Otherwise, 5% (894,800 TOE/year) waste heat released from power plants were observed as flue gas, which temperature ranged from 90$^{\circ}C$ to 170$^{\circ}C$.

In this study, a numerical study was conducted to evaluate the performance improvement when CuO nanofluid was used in the plate heat exchanger. As a result, the heat transfer amount is increased by 5.45% when 2 vol% CuO nanofluid is used. The influence on the CuO nanofluid on the performance of heat exchanger is decreased by increasing the flow rate of working fluid. In addition, the overall heat transfer coefficient using 2 vol% CuO nanofluid decreased compared to the base fluid. However, the pressure drop and the consumption of the pump power is increased as the concentration of CuO nanofluid increased because the increase of the viscosity. These are increased up to 15.4% compared to those of the base fluid. Moreover, the performance index of CuO nanofluid is decreased by 12.6% compared to that of the base fluid.

Unsteady simulations were performed to investigate the flame structure and the dynamic behavior of a premixed flame exposed to the wall heat loss. A 3-step global reaction mechanism was adopted in this study. Simulations were performed for two tube combustors with inner diameters($d_i$) of 1mm and 4mm. The material of tube combustor was assumed to be a Silicon Nitride($Si_{3}N_4$). The heat loss from the outer tube wall was controlled by adjusting the amount of convective and radiative heat loss. A conical premixed flame could be stabilized inside a tube of $d_i=4mm$. The flame stability inside a tube of $d_i=4mm$ combustor was not much sensitive to the amount of heat loss. In case of a tube of $d_i=1mm$, an oscillating flame was observed in very low heat loss condition and a flame could not be sustained in realistic heat loss condition.
The sintering process of BSCCO 2223 tapes is a complex process that is very sensitive to parameters, such as temperature, oxygen partial pressure, heating and cooling rate and holding time. During the first heat treatment, 2212 phase of precursor powder is partially transformed into 2223 phase and some residual secondary phases, such as $(Bi,Pb)_2$$Sr_2$CuO/sub y/(2201), $(Ca,Sr)_2$CuO/sub y/(2/1AEC), (Ca,Sr)/sub 14/Cu/sub 24/O/sub 41/(14/24 AEC) etc. The secondary phases are difficult to be removed from the BSCCO 2223 matrix on the heat treatment. These secondary phases degrade the critical current density. In order to minimize the amount and size of alkaline earth cuprate(AEC) particles step heat treatment is applied during the first heat treatment under the varying atmosphere. Experimental results showed that by adapting the step heat treatment process, the amount and particle size of the secondary phases in the final tapes are decreased. Consequently, the BSCCO 2223grain texture and Jc properties are improved.
