  • 고분자는 다양한 산업 분야에 응용되고 있으며, 표면의 기능화 처리로 그 응용 분야를 넓히는 것이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 고분자 (PC, PET) 표면에 N - (2 - aminoethyl) 3 -aminopropyl trimethoxysilane (AEAPS) 분자막을 Thermal CVD법에 의해 형성시키고, XPS와 수적접 촉각을 이용하여 표면 상태를 측정하였다. 또한, AEAPS 분자막에 Carboxy acid과 Pd 이온의 흡착 실험을 통해 고분자 표면에서의 amino기 작용에 대한 연구를 하였다.

  • The synthesis of a new series of 1${\beta}$-methylcarbapenems having the substituted aminoethyl-carbamoylpyrrolidine moiety is described. Their in vitro antibacterial activities against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria were tested and the effect of substituent on the pyrrolidine ring was investigated. In particular. the compound 11 g having piperazinyl urea moiety showed the most potent antibacterial activity.

  • Cobalt(III) complexes with sexidentate ligands, N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-amino-ethyl)-1,2-ethanediamine (ten), -1,3-propanediamine (ttn), -1,4-butanediamine (ttmd), -(R,R)-and -(R,S)-2,4-pentanediamine (tptn) were prepared, and the characterization of d-d absorption band on the variation of chelate ring size and conformation of these complexes were studied by means of electronic spectra. The first d-d absorption bands of $[Co(L)]^{3+}$ complexes are shifted to smaller wave numbers in the order. ttn > (R,R)-tptn > ten > ttmd${\simeq}$(R,S)-tptn for (L). The UV, $^{13}C$ NMR, and Circular Dichroism studies indicate that the R,S-tptn ligand of $[Co(R,S-tptn)]^{3+}$ complex coodinates to cobalt(Ⅲ) ion as a sexidentate with one methyl group in axial position.

Selection and Characterization of S-Aminoethyl-L-Cysteine Resistant Plants from Gamma-ray Irradiated Embryogenic Callus in Sweet potato

  • Sweet potato cells derived from Yulmi were isolated from embryogenic callus and irradiated with 50 Gy dose. Resistant cells were selected on a MS medium containing 1.0 mM S-aminoethyl-L-cysteine (AEC). This level of AEC approximately inhibits non-selected wild type cells. The callus resistant to this analog of lysine was subcultured for 30 days in absence of AEC to proliferate. The three resistant calli (AR-1, AR-2 and AR-3) with better growth were divvied into 0.5~1mm diameter and placed on MS medium with 0, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 mM AEC. There are considerable growth difference between control callus and AEC resistant callus on the AEC-medium. The selected calli were placed on the hormone-free medium for regeneration. Three plantlets, five plantlets and six plantlets were recovered from AR-1, AR-2 and AR-3 calli, respectively. Each two regenerants in AR-1, AR-2 and AR3 were randomly selected for RAPD and SDS PAGE analysis. RAPD polymorph isms between Yulmi and AEC resistant plant from irradiated calli were detected in several Wako primers. Also, it was identified that two AEC resistant plants had higher protein than the original variety Yulmi.

Characteristics of Rice Mutants Resistant to 5- Methyltryptophan (벼 5-methyltryptophan 저항성 돌연변이체의 특성)

  • TR75, a rice (Oryza sativa L. var. Sasanishikj) mutant resistant to 5-methyltryptophan (5MT) was segregated from the progenies of its initial mutant line, TR1. The 5MT resistance of TR75 was inherited in the M$_{8}$ generations as a single dominant nuclear gene, and was also expressed in callus derived from seeds, roots, and anthers as well as in the seedlings. The callus induced from these organs could grow at 50 mg/1 of 5MT, whereas the growth of wild-type callus was completely inhibited even at 25 mg/1. The seedlings of TR75 did not show resistance to L-azetidine-2-carboxylic acid, S-2-aminoethyl-L-cysteine, p-fluoro-DL-phenylalanine. The content of free amino acids in the TR75 homozygous seeds increased approximately 1.5 to 2.0 fold compared to wild-type seeds. Especially, the contents of tryptophan, phenylalanine and aspartic acid were 5.0, 5.3 and 2.7 times higher than those of wild-type seeds, respectively.y.

Syntheses of Biologically Non-Toxic ZnS:Mn Nanocrystals by Surface Capping with O-(2-aminoethyl)polyethylene Glycol and O-(2-carboxyethyl)polyethylene Glycol Molecules

  • Water-dispersible ZnS:Mn nanocrystals were synthesized by capping the surface of the nanocrystal with O-(2-Aminoethyl)polyethylene glycol (PEG-$NH_2$, Mw = 10,000 g/mol) and O-(2-Carboxyethyl)polyethylene glycol (PEG-COOH, Mw = 10,000 g/mol) molecules. The modified PEG capped ZnS:Mn nanocrystal powders were thoroughly characterized by XRD, HR-TEM, EDXS, ICP-AES and FT-IR spectroscopy. The optical properties were also measured by UV/Vis and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopies. The PL spectra showed broad emission peaks at 600 nm with similar PL efficiencies of 7.68% (ZnS:Mn-PEG-NH2) and 9.18% (ZnS:Mn-PEG-COOH) respectively. The measured average particle sizes for the modified PEG capped ZnS:Mn nanocrystals by HR-TEM images were 5.6 nm (ZnS:Mn-PEG-NH2) and 6.4 nm (ZnS:Mn-PEG-COOH), which were also supported by Debye-Scherrer calculations. In addition, biological toxicity effects of the nanocrystals over the growth of wild type E. coli were investigated. They showed no biological toxicity to E. coli until very high concentration dosage of 1 mg/mL of the both nanocrystal samples.

  • Maleimide modified epoxy compounds were prepared by reacting N-(4-hydroxyphenyl) maleimide (HPM) with diglycidylether of bisphenol-A. Triphenylphosphine was used as catalyst and methylethylketone as solvent. The resulting compound possessed both the oxirane ring and maleimide group. The curing reaction of the maleimide epoxy compound with amine curing agents such as 1-(2-aminoethyl) piperazine (AEP) and 5-amino-1,3,3-trimethylcyclohexane methylamine isophorone diamine, IPDA) were studied. Incorporation of maleimide groups in the epoxy resin provides cyclic imide structure and high cross-linking density to the cured resins. The cured samples were found to have good thermal stability, chemical resistance (acid/alkali/solvent) and water absorption resistance.

Preparation of New Polyenaminonitriles Containing Cyclic and Methylene Units and Their Thermal Properties

  • Polyenaminonitriles containing cycloaliphatic and aliphatic units were prepared by interfacial or solution polymerization reaction of p-bis(1-chloro-2,2-dicyanovinyl) benzene (1) with 4-aminobenzyl-amine, 1-(2-aminoethyl)piperazine, 2-(aminomethyl)pyrrolidine and 4-(aminomethyl)piperidine. The chemical structure of the polymers was confirmed through a syntheses of the model compound. The resulting polymers possessed inherent viscosities of 0.29∼0.62 dL/g and they were easily soluble in polar aprotic solvents and common organic solvents. Thermal properties of the polymers such as curability and stability were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and infrared spectroscopy. The polymers exhibited a large exotherm in DSC analyses and underwent a curing reaction around 340-370$\^{C}$ to form insoluble materials. The polymers showed 70-80% residual weight at 600 $\^{C}$ under nitrogen.

  • The drug release property from the coated tablets which contain 291mg of acetylsalicylic acid were estimated from comparison of the blood level and the urinary excretions after oral ingestion of coated tablets and noncoated tablet in human. The coating materials are 2-methyl-5-vinylpyridine-methylacrylic acid copolymer(MPM), dimethyl aminoethyl methacrylate methyl methacrylate copolymer(EE), polyvinyl acetal diethyl aminoacetate(AEA), and shellac. Each of 7 subjects ingested 873mg of acetylsaliylic acid. All tablets are coated approximately $3.5{\pm}0.5%(w/w)$ per tablet with each of the coating materials and met K.P.II. standard for potency and disintegration time. The availability was decreased in the following order:MPM coated tablets>EE coated tablets>AEA coated tablets>> shellac coated tablets.
