AlSi12 분말의 직접 레이저 용융 적층 시 공정 조건에 따른 적층 특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Effects of Direct Laser Melting Process Parameters on Deposition Characteristics of AlSi12 powders)

  • AlSi12 is a heat-resistant aluminum alloy that is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, machinable and attracting attention as a functional material in aerospace and automotive industries. For that reason, AlSi12 powder has been used for high performance parts through 3D printing technology. The purpose of this study is to observe deposition characteristics of AlSi12 powder in a direct energy deposition (DED) process (one of the metal 3D printing technologies). In this study, deposition characteristics were investigated according to various process parameters such as laser power, powder feed rate, scan speed, and slicing layer thickness. In the single track deposition experiment, an irregular bead shape and balling or humping of molten metal were formed below a laser power of 1,000 W, and the good-shaped bead was obtained at 1.0 g/min powder feed rate. Similar results were observed in multi-layer deposition. Observation of deposited height after multi-layer deposition revealed that over-deposition occurred at all conditions. To prevent over-deposition, slicing layer thickness was experimentally determined at given conditions. From these results, this study presented practical conditions for good surface quality and accurate geometry of deposits.

Preparation of dense $BaMgAl_{10}O_{17}:Eu^{2+}$ particles and their surface treatment

  • Dense $BaMgAl_{10}O_{17}:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor particles with a spherical shape have been synthesized through spray pyrolysis method using basic aluminum nitrate precursor as a spray solution. This $BaMgAl_{10}O_{17}:Eu^{2+}$ particles prepared by the spray pyrolysis have shown the stronger emission intensity compared to the commercially-available $BaMgAl_{10}O_{17}:Eu^{2+}$. However, thermal stability of the BAM:Eu b lue phosphor is very poor due to changing from $Eu^{2+}$ to $Eu^{3+}$ at the thermal process, so brightness of the phosphor decreases. To improve the thermal stability of the dense BAM:Eu phosphor, the spherical BAM:Eu particles were coated with pure $BaMgAl_{10}O_{17}$ layer using the hydrolysis reaction in a solution system. The synthesized powders were characterized by XRD, SEM and PL. On the other hand, the emission properties of the BAM:Eu phosphors coated with $BaMgAl_{10}O_{17}$ layer before and after thermal treatment at $500^{\circ}C$ for 30 min were estimated under VUV excitation. The brightness of the coated phosphor was higher than that of the uncoated phosphor. Also, the coating thickness of BAM layer in the BAM:Eu particles was optimized.

Geopolymer Technique에 의한 Mullite 분말의 합성 (Synthesis of Mullite Powders by the Geopolymer Technique)

  • Mullite precursors were synthesized with aluminosilicate gels from mixture of aluminum nitrate and sodium orthosilicate by the geopolymer technique at ambient temperature. Then, the gel was heat-treated in air up to $1200^{\circ}C$ at intervals of $100^{\circ}C$. Raw and heat-treated gels were characterized by TG-DTA, XRD, FTIR, $^{29}Si$ MAS-NMR, TEM. The result to examine the crystallization of behavior though DTA, the synthesized precursors were crystallized in the temperature range from $950^{\circ}C$ to $1050^{\circ}C$. The XRD results showed that the gel compositions were begun to crystallize at various temperature. Also, it was found that the precursors of M-4 begun to crystallize at about $950^{\circ}C$. The M-4 XRD peaks were characterized better than $M-1{\sim}M-3$ at $1000^{\circ}C$. The formation temperature of mullite in this study is much lower than that of previous sol-gel methods, which crystallized at up of $1200^{\circ}C$. TEM investigations revealed that the sample with 10 nm particle size was obtained via heat-treated at $1000^{\circ}C$ for M-4.

연소합성법으로 제작한 $Y_3Al_5O_{12}:Eu^{3+}$ 나노형광체의 광학적 특성 (Photoluminescence Characteristics of $Y_3Al_5O_{12}:Eu^{3+}$ Nano-Phosphors by Combustion Method)

  • For this study, Yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) particles doped $Eu^{3+}$ ions were prepared via the combustion process using the 1:1 ratio of metal ions to reagents. The characteristics of the synthesized nano powder were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and photoluminescence (PL). The various YAG peaks, with the (420) main peak, appeared at all sintering temperature XRD patterns. The YAG phase crystallized with results that are in good agreement with the JCPDS diffraction file 33-0040. The SEM image showed that the resulting YAG:Eu powders had larger sizes with the increse in the sintering temperature. The grain size was about 50nm at $1000^{\circ}C$. The PL intensity of $Eu^{3+}$ has the line peaks of 598, 610, 632nm and has main peak at 591nm.

  • Al2O3$.$SiC particle was prepared was prepared by the self-propagting high temperature sYthesis(SHS) process from a mixture of SiO2, Al and C powders, The fabricated Al2O3$.$SiC particle was applied to 2024Al/(Al2O3$.$SiC)pcomposite as a reinforcement. Aluminum matix composites were fabricares by the powder extrusion method using the synthesized Al2O3$.$SiC particle and commercial 2024Al powder. Theoptimum preparation conditions for Al2O3$.$SiC partticle by SHS process were described. The influence of the Al2O3$.$SiC voiume fraction on the mechanical was composite was also discussed. Despite adiabatic temperature was about 2367K, SHs reaction was completed not by itself, but by using pre-heating. Mean particle size of final particle synthesized was 0.73 ${\mu}$m and most of the particle was smaller than 2${\mu}$m. Elastic modulus and tensile strength of the composite increased with increase the volume fraction of reinforcement but, tensile strength depreciated at 30 vol% of reinforcement.

  • ZnO nanowires were coated conformally with aluminum oxide ($Al_{2}O_{3}$) material by atomic layer deposition (ALD). The ZnO nanowires were first synthesized on a Si (100) substrate at $1380^{\circ}C$ from ball-milled ZnO powders by a thermal evaporation procedure with an argon carrier gas without any catalysts; the length and diameter of these ZnO nanowires are $20\sim30{\mu}m$ and $50{\sim}200$ nm, respectively. $Al_{2}O_{3}$ films were then deposited on these ZnO nanowires by ALD at a substrate temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ using trimethylaluminum (TMA) and distilled water ($H_{2}O$). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images of the deposited ZnO nanowires revealed that 40nm-thick $Al_{2}O_{3}$ cylindrical shells surround the ZnO nanowires.

Al-Ti 혼합 분말 슬러리를 이용한 강의 알루미나이징처리 방법 (Convenient Aluminizing Process of Steel by Using Al-Ti Mixed Powder Slurry)

  • In this study, we attempted to develop a convenient aluminizing process, using Al-Ti mixed slurry as an aluminum source, to control the Al content of the aluminized layer as a result of a one-step process and can be widely adopted for coating complex-shaped components. The aluminizing process was carried out by the heat treatment on disc and rod shaped S45C steel substrates with Al-Ti mixed slurries that were composed of various mixed ratios (wt%) of Al and Ti powders. The surface of the resultant aluminized layer was relatively smooth with no obvious cracks. The aluminized layers mainly contain an Fe-Al compound as the bulk phase. However, the Al concentration and the thickness of the aluminized layer gradually decrease as the Ti proportion among Al-Ti mixed slurries increases. It has also been shown that the Al-Ti compound layer, which formed on the substrate during heat treatment, easily separates from the substrate. In addition, the incorporation of Ti into the substrate surface during heat treatment was not observed.

  • 친환경 자동차용(EV: Electric Vehicle, HEV: Hybrid Electric Vehicle, PHEV: Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) 리튬계 이차전지의 폭발적인 증가로 인하여 리튬의 수요가 매우 가파르게 증가하고 있다. 전통적인 리튬의 생산은 주로 리튬 함유 광물이나 염호에서 이루어졌으나, 최근에는 리튬계 이차전지의 재활용 시 유가금속과 함께 회수되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 리튬이 함유된 물질로부터 리튬을 회수하는 방법에 대하여 종합적으로 고찰하고자 하였다.

소결조제 없이 유도가열로를 이용해 소결된 질화알루미늄의 특성 연구 (Study on the properties of aluminum nitride sintered using an induction furnace without sintering additives)

  • 본 연구에서는 ㎛ 및 nm 크기를 갖는 상용 AlN 분말을 XRD 분석을 통해 선별 후, 유도가열로를 활용하여 상이한 온도에서 소결하여 최적화된 소결 온도 및 물성 특성을 조사하였다. 소결 온도는 1,500, 1,700 그리고 1,900℃ N2 분위기에서 진행되었으며, 소결된 AlN 펠렛은 SEM, XRD, Raman 분석을 이용하여 최적화된 소결 온도 조건을 확립하였다. 또한 Impedance 분석을 진행하여 소결 조제 없이 제작된 AlN 펠렛의 전기적 특성을 확인하였다.

희석제 입도가 고온자전연소법에 의한 질화알루미늄 합성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Diluent Size on Aluminum Nitride Prepared by Using Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis Process)

  • 고온자전연소법에 의한 질화알루미늄 합성에 있어서, 반응물(Al) 형상과 희석제(AlN) 입도 등의 형상학적 조건이 반응생성물에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 평균 입경(34$\mu$m)이 같은 두 종류의 Al 분말(입상, 편상)과 평균입경이 다른 4종류의 AM분말을 희석제로 사웅하여 반응 성형체를 준비하였다. 반응성형체의 충진밀도는 이론밀도의 $35\%로 고정하였고, 초기 질소압은 $1\~10MPa$, 희석을은 $0.4\~0.7$로 변화시키면서 반응을 실시하였다. 반응물과 희석제의 입도를 비슷하게 조절함으로써, 상대적으로 질소압이 낮은 1MPa의 조건에서도 순도 $98\% 이상, 입경 수십 $\mu$m의 AlN 합성이 가능함을 확인하였다. 이러한 고순도, 고입경화는 연소파 진행 후, 성형체 내부로 질소가스 투입 용이성의 차이에 의한 현상이라고 판단된다.
